- BILBOA, Spain - High winds in Bilbao, Spain, made normally routine landings treacherous for airplanes Wednesday. Some airplanes were able to land, making for a bumpy ride for passengers.
00:43 to 00:46 that is the perfect technique. On centerline down to before flare altitude and changed to "The Crosswind Slip" before the start of the flare. Touched down with no drift on centerline using the Slip Method. Saved the airline one thousand dollars in tire damage (if landed on a crab) (a sideways touchdown scrape the tires a lot and can even bend the gear).
Free Tapas for that guy. Now I see why Iberia pilots are paid better than many others. They save the airline a lot of money in tire damages while the others mess up the tires and complain they are paid less. Bravo Espanoles.
Landing in a cross wind is always tricky and even more so when the wind is gusting. Well done pilots.
No, air traffic are there to prevent collisions and assist with the flow of traffic, provide information etc. the pilot in command of the aircraft is responsible for deciding whether to proceed or divert to another airfield. The airport authority may choose to close their airport but not air traffic control.

Amazing by the pilots but aren't air traffic supposed to stop Planes landing if conditions are dangerous? Correct me if I'm wrong

Thats nothing..... Every time I land in the shetland islands, the crosswinds are the same, if not worse.... And I travel there at least twice a month. Lol.
