@@madeiraaviation4656 when your ass is actually your airplane, so its like farting while landing for this guy/pilot....exceptional feiling for outside conditions.....
As a Madeiran I’ve travelled to Madeira almost every year. Some people saying “horror” clearly don’t know there’s a strategy to land against these types of winds, the pilot did the right thing by going side ways and adjusting at the last minute. Very well done! It’s for this reason I feel safe travelling anywhere :)
As a pilot I would like to teach something: To approach sideways is not a decision we could make (to approach straight with crosswinds is a decision we could make but that would be stupid and dangerous). The plane automatically turns sideways in crosswinds because the wind force attacks the rudder plane way more than the small bow which causes this phenomenon.
I was a passenger on that flight that day! It was quite a scary landing, felt relieved to be on the ground, although the landing was really hard. My pilot did a great job!
Ryanair has a lot of short flights and a lot of landings at airports that have windy weather. They get used to keeping elevation until the last second to avoid getting slammed with a down microburst. Then put the aircraft firmly down. Their hard landings are not unsafe just uncomfortable. They land and aggressively commit. In nasty weather this is a safer landing. Bumpy for the passenger and harder on the plane. Makes for good youtube videos.
Ryanair get a lot of critics but they are actually slowly becoming a very reliable airline. Over the last few months Jet2 EasyJet and most of their competitors have had huge cancellations and delays whereas Ryanair have been solid
Unfortunately this is just BS, I always wondered how people come up with things like this. There is no aggressive commit and keeping the “elevation” because of microburst. Madeira is a difficult airport with lots of wind direction and speed change during descent and it looks like this when you are battling with it.
@@Obione88 Unlike Ryan Air Jet2 will wait to ensure their passengers get away on their holidays if they are stuck in a hold up at security. Ryanair will just piss off and leave the pax behind.

@@bobjones304 So actually I watched a couple other videos one of which glancingly gave information about the approach and conditions there. As an legitimate student airline pilot I can say that this landing was totally perfect. There is no blame towards the pilot since with heavy crosswinds there has to be an adjustment to it. These pilots know their aircraft intimately, and all her limitations 💯
💯💯💯
I was all prepared to make a comment like "that wasn't so unbelievable", but it really was... thanks for posting...
Thank you for watching ☺️
Wow incredible ! The Pilots and the person filming are top class 👌🏻👍🏻
Thank you Mate for watching ☺️☺️
did this approach 3 times in FS2020 with PMDG 737-700. On 1st attempt crash landing, 2nd attempt runway overshoot and finally in 3rd attempt i managed to land with -309fpm. Man, more respect to irl pilots
As an legitimate student airline pilot I can say that this landing was totally perfect. There is no blame towards the pilot since with heavy crosswinds there has to be an adjustment to it. Idk why people who have no idea, are judging professional pilots, actually funny. Ryanair pilots have the exact training as for example Lufthansa…
Thank you for watching 💯
As a completely illegitimate student airline pilot I can also say this landing was totally perfect, probably. I wouldn't know!
I was the plane that day and I was very surprised how perfectly this pilot landed me.
😁😁😁 Nice One Mate 💯
I was the landing gear that day and I was also very surprised that I did not almost die during the landing
One of the best footages here on CZcams..
