- Super CHEAP Ebike with a LEGAL Throttle! - PVY Z20 Pro Review
This is the PVY Z20 Pro a 250w legal ebike that makes good legal use of its throttle. It can also be unlocked to 500w which will see the speed increase from 25km/h to 32km/h. We’ll be putting the bike to the test with a range test and all the other usual tests and we’ll see how far the 50Nm of torque can propel the PVY Z20 Pro Electric bike up our hill climb test of sandy lane.
At under £700 this is a really cheap ebike and yet it has loads of features. Is it worth the money? Let’s find out!

Neat recording. But you need a decent camera. The items like for example the telegraph poles are like distorted.

L20 is still my favourite ebike taking everything into account. Just seems unavailable in the uk at the moment. So ironic that it's the L20 video that exploded. It wasn't sold out because of my video. It was already sold out 😭😭

having just discovered your channel while researching folding ebikes, I've now watched a few vids and I really like your reviews.
I'm about to bite the bullet on a couple of these for me and the wife, but before I do would you mind if I asked, Are these the best folding bikes at this price point, or are there others worth considering? Thanks
At this price point it's definitely one of the best that I've tried. I should mention the bodywel a26 ladies bike though that I've reviewed. I think that's around 700 too wuth a discount code and is well made but doesn't look as good.
Can the state-of-charge level be seen and monitored while it's being charged? Many escooters annoyingly switch off/deactivate the display when charging - with manufacturers/sellers absurdly claiming there's a safety threat if the display is left on! (Oh no- I must switch off my phone or laptop when I'm charging them !!)
So what about ebikes and this one in particular?

We have two zx20 plus 1000s. Fantastic. But a bit heavy when folding and getting in and out of car boot. I have seat ateca and on fits in. Completely fills the boot. Second bike on back seat I hope!
My front lights when i bought this bike where connected to the electrical system and I could turn it on or off with a button above the horn. When the bike is NOT unlocked and the throttle activates walking mode, be aware that the manufacturer says that you should NOT ride the bike or you risk damaging the motor because it uses a specific gearing in that mode which is only suitable for moving just the bike forward. When unlocked the throttle ONLY works when the sensor detects that u actually pedal to avoid situations when you accidentally twist the throttle and not on the bike and then the bike just rockets forward.
Good news about the front light! And thanks for the info that's good to know. Yeah it's definitely just a walk mode rather than a handy pulling away throttle which is a shame really but not the end of the world for most people.

Have you tested the engwe engine x, the uk legal version of the pro yet its not on your list for sandy hill. Being a best seller becoming conspicious by its absence
They said they'd send it but they had a couple of other bikes to send first and i had a few others waiting to be reviewed so didn't follow up. I will though when it looks like I'll have time to test it 👍

The engine pro is fantastic. My favourite ebike is between the L20 and eskuta sx-250 as they're both so useful. Engine pro is too and it's faster than both. I just like that the L20 is styled as a legal ebike and has a relaxed step thru frame. The engine pro is probably better though.

Out of these 3, engwe c20 pro, bodywel, or the pvy. Strangely enough the pvy is supposed ro have 50nm.
When judging torque it's hard to know how accurate stated figures are. Which is why it's good to compare Sandy Lane performance 👍
So which one would you pick? Performance wise and battery?
@letstravel5278 the new C20 I haven't tried. I'd probably go for that over this simply because it now has adjustable suspension. Unless I needed a folding bike specifically I may go for the z20. The bodywel seems the best of all quality wise but probably wouldn't choose it simply because it's big and doesn't look as cool.

We’ve go two plus 1000s. Really good in all respects. But 28kg makes it a weight to get into car etc
Ordered this bike on line on the 13 of April , just wondering any 1 , , How long is normal for Delivery ,

I got mine new last week. The front brakes disk is touching the metal of the brake. There is no way to adjust anything. I Sent video and pictures to the seller. And there is wery little response from them. Soon two weeks past and they haven any proposals for a solution.
Why can't you adjust it?
Because the disk is leaning totally on the brake metal. That is not adjustable.
Does this ebike has any CE sticker or marking saying 250w and cut of speed or maximum speed 25km/h?
Nah nothing like that. In fact the motor has numbers on it for torque, volts, power etc. There's a 50, a 36 and a 500 (???). So the motor seems to be rated for 500w. However, it doesn't say watts.
No idea what that number means too.
The more I come across things, the more comical it all is. They cannot ban 500 watts or 1000 as it is legal for off-road anyway just the same as engwe.
They cannot ban throttles if they can be used off-road.
And neither can they be locked out from changing settings in the controller.
A road user is entitled to change to a different setting when they go off-road so they be switching back and fore
If engwe L20 is actually like you said a downgrade. Not sure downgraded from what. But even if it is actually 250w and by the time muck about with settings and whatnots, does it act like a 500 or a 750. Or does it actually becomes 500 output

You can buy a middrive BAFANG with 120nm Torque for $500,fit that to a nice beefy alloy hardtail with hydraulic discs and a 52v 20ah battery for $500 ,all you need is the bike second hand only $500 , that's 1500 for a fantastic powerful ebike instead of 4k from the shop
Can you deactivate the unwanted, intrusive darned pedal-assist and ONLY use the the throttle ? If not I ain't buying one. I the rider want to decide when I need power not have b***dy pedal-assist kicking in all the time. It also increases range if ebike-riders can activate power only when we need it or want it !!

I doubt the battery specs are honest. My Fiido D4s, has the same specs (36v, 10.4 ah). In good conditions (temperature, wind, etc.), with me pedaling and the throttle at the max I could go for 50 km @ 32 km/h (30 mi @ 20 mi/h). On the third assist level (21 km/h, claimed 25, but GPS speed is 21), no throttle and moderate pedaling effort, I could go the advertised 80 km. Unfortunately after 5000 km riding the battery capacity decreased a lot and those kinds of ranges are no longer possible, but when it was new I was very happy with the range and the battery. It seems like many Chinese manufacturers overstate the battery capacity, I wouldn't be surprised if the actual capacity of this bike is more like 7.5 ah rather than 10.4. Granted the Fiido has thinner tires, which might play a role in this, but the difference is quite small so it's probably not that. I was considering this bike as a replacement for the Fiido, but I guess I should just buy a new battery instead, too bad they ask 300 eur for it (half the cost of this bike).
Batteries have a certain life cycle, which is normal.🤝

Legal throttle doesnt exist.
It does if they do it like this. It's allowed to propel the bike up to 6kph. But brands never give their throttles that function.
Is there any way to do the throttle thing on the engine x where is only works on say level 3-9 ??
