one of the things that makes this so heartwrenching is you can very much tell that Ruyi was angry and sad by the simple fact that she broke down and cried heavy. Her character is always composed and barely cries but this one one of the few times which she does and everytime that happens you can't help but cry with her. Lin yunche was a good, no, he was a great man, amazing even. Honestly, if there was a way for ruyi and yunche to end up together i'd have loved it. It was painful to watch how quickly the emperor turned away her love and his love for her and exchange it for power and more women. Though in some part it's not his fault.

Very hard to watch these episode. The guard saved Ruyi and the emperor's life many times and in return he is mutilated, tortured and finally killed. Even if Ruyi is the empress, she has to bend over to the emperor's will. I'm glad she got the last laugh at the end.

This episode had me so mad I stopped watching for almost a whole year before I resumed it to finished it. Talk about the emperor making me livid. I forgot they were all acting.

This was the cruelest thing he could ever done. Not just this, but the fact that he deliberately keeps coming over to her palace to provoke her and Yunche to make them suffer more was just beyond cruel. Even when Empress Dowager forced either Ruyi or her aunt to die, it wasn’t near as cruel as this and Ruyi still had her bearing.

The Emperor was jealous of him because he was a better man than the Emperor and Ruyi realized this even though she had always been loyal tohe Emperor. The Emperor didn't want Ruyi to have any friends of any sex or be more liked them him. He seemed to be jealous of her goodness. The very thing that bonded her to him and put her on a pedestal.. He couldn't take it when she rightfully points out some of his faults. He knows she is right and he has to retaliate because of his HUGE ego.

Most heartbreaking 💔 heart wrenching moment … I sobbed so hard right along side Ruyi for Guard Ling. How cruel of the Emperor how petty and pathetic he is - he’s not a man and pales in comparison to Guard Ling. This will be the straw that breaks the camels back as they say… that scene when Eunuch Ling walks in is absolutely devastating I could barely breathe. I just wanted flatten the other Eunuch for slithering tongue!!!! The Emperor took this too far there’s no coming back - this is when “irrevocable” becomes real

This was one of the few dramas that made me mad. I quit watching somewhere in the middle because the emperor was so mean to her. I just came back and decided to watch the last couple of episodes. I am glad she found a way out of his bullying. Kind of sad she had to go to that extreme to get away from it though.
I couldn't watch anymore after he slapped her. After everything she had ever had to go through and do just to love him. She suffered so much for him and in the end he never appreciated her until she died. Such is the story for many women including my own mother. She loved my father until her last dying breathe and he never appreciated her for everything she lost to be with him.
I still haven't been able to finish it all these years later. I think i gave up around episode 64, it was just too depressing. I eventually watched the last 3 episodes just to see the ending, but I can't bring myself to watch the episodes I skipped!
I just watch these by clips.. at first when I saw how the emperor cry when ruyi died.. i symphatize that he deserves it.. but seeing this.. I really emphatize that he do really deserved the grief and being alone.. but he is also not deserving to even shed tears for her.. he even has audacity to ask her to go hunting and return to empress sit on their final meet up.. after all these things that he had done..🙄 shameless.. he claims to love her but asks his wife how to woe a woman. 🙄 he humilliate her.. give her grief and when she turns her back you expect her to return... 🙄

I suggest you to watch the drama until Ruyi become empress, Zhou Xun's acting is a worth to watch. Well at least that's where I stop, I watch the rest from youtube clips.
It took me a long time to finish it in its entirety due to its sadness and my anger and frustration with the emperor. I must say it didn’t help in watching it entirely, became sadder. The only saving grace was her slap in his facein her death and his guilt, grieving and missing her till he died.
I don't think i can handle it too. I'll stick to clips.

I just finished watching this drama. I cried through the whole Last 10 episodes. It’s so sad. I never felt so much heartbreak and ache for fictional characters before but this drama just knows how to break you :(

This scene is so sad. I love Ruyi but hare the evil deeds done to her by the concubines and the king. Ling Yuchen saved her many times and she trusted him with her life. The King jealousy is just so insane yet he doesn’t treat Ruyi wiith respect.

Emperors have a twisted meaning to love. They are shameless, crazy, insulting and neglectful but demand loyalty. Even when that is given they're still not satisfied. No man should have that much power to screw people's lives legally.

That’s men for you. They expect women to go above and beyond for them and expect 100% loyalty while they play around with multiple women as if they’re some lifeless toy to be played with and thrown away once get bored. I think the emperor acts like men even in modern day. He didn’t deserve such a beautiful woman with pure heart. She’s been with him and loyal to him since day 1 but he’s beyond abusive to her.

Literally everything is at stakes at all times, people must be trying to over throw him, luck his boot and gain his favour. He has to be constantly vigilant of people scheming against him even closest servant or the concubines. I wonder if there ever an emperor who didn't have trust issues.
What he did was wrong, but the world he lives in truly revolves around him. U think at those days if an emperor actually shows compassion and generosity. Say if his concubine or empress falls for a minister and he let her go to marry other guy. He will lose his credibility and respect from the people. It was a different time.

The emperor reminds me of my dad, but instead, he doesn't abusive where he does not hit her. He just lacks showing love, speaks nonsense, jokes, and said rude things to her. We 10 kids defend her against my dad, so he always tries to joke around when he knows what he means. However, he can't live without my mom because he is completely useless without her.
