- YAYYY... I've been saying for ages I wanted to do something with Zira. I actually wrote a script for this originally as a MAP, but I'm not really interested in running multi animator projects right now, so I yoinked it cuz I thought it was still really neat and just did the darn thing myself as a standalone animatic project!
Okay, first up, YEAH, I TOTALLY took a lot of liberties with the plot. I know like, Kopa is non-canon, and like, i think canonically nuka and vitani are from the same litter? but like, as a kid i DEFINITELY assumed vitani was kovu's age, so I'm going with that because I prefer it. There's a LOT here thats maaayyybe not super canon compliant, but hey! tlk2 was kind of weird with the lore. let's just run with it lol. I wanted to make a story all about Zira, I did my best with what I had.

she was so blinded by hate and so misguided she didn't understand that she wasn't only damaging herself but her son. She spent so much time looking at others spending time with their cubs, envying them, but she couldn't see that affection was waiting directly at her side. In him.

Exactly. But she did love her cubs, she did love Nuka, although she didn’t show it. In the end when Nuka died you can really see how much she actually cared.

I love how she is looking down at Nuka when he is born, but only starts to hate him when Scar does. She would have been totally fine with him if Scar accepted him. She followed Scar so devotedly that even though she was angry at him, she accepted that Nuka was simply a failure because Scar thought so. Her hatred and anger blinded her from what he child really needed. She didn't even realize how much damage she was actually doing to Nuka til AFTER he died. :(
ALSO: She sees that Nuka is upset when she has her new babies and starts to go after him. Her expression isn't angry. I think she genuinely cares, but she got so caught up in what happened with her mate that she didn't think about it afterwards. She's literally consumed by her bitterness!
AND: In the last few minutes of her life, she loses literally everything. Nuka, Vitani, Kovu, and her own pride. Only seconds before she dies does she figure out what she's been doing wrong all these years.

And Nuka wanted to please his mother so badly to the point where he got himself killed for her I feel bad for him all he wanted was his mother's love and protection
i love how the more hatred zira feels, the darker the background gets
as it hit the darkest shade, it flipped back to white, realizing how she really was living her life based off of anger and hate
just as she realized, she fell into the river
had this been the original cut (zira's suicide) it wouldve made it chilling even more
still, very good job
God I wish they hadn't cut that like, I understand why they did, it was SO dark, but also SO powerful like it's just a really powerful scene, her choosing to die rather than allow her enemy to help her- choosing death over releasing her hate. It's a powerful sentiment. I really wanted to show her life becoming darker and more claustrophobic as she allowed her hatred and her bitterness to consume her, until it was too dark to see clearly
I don't think she died tho as she grabbed a log that she could easily pull herself up and out of the water. But that's just a theory.
@@bermuthos_sea Doubt it, not hating on your opinion but it wasnt just some river it was a flood. Floods can be extremly strong at times which is why alot of people die from them since like a said its very strong and it can be difficult for someone to get to the surface for air when the water is far to powerful
Im sure she tried to get back up to the surface but the current might have been too strong for her to handle..

I like the idea of Scar being Nuka's father. That would explain why he would be jealous of Kovu because Nuka WAS Scar's son but not Kovu

It's true It mentioned in movie Will you 1st mean Nuka "Scar wasn't even his father... he just took him in" implies that Scar is Nuka's father and that Nuka is jealous because his father chose another cub over his own son

I mean... In the live action they at least fixed hyenas, since in real life females are bigger and stronger than males, they're the leaders, not males. In original they just... were there.
And it kinda made more sense that they turned against Scar, since in original they seemsed like old friends and it was just kinda weird that they killed him because he said one bad sentence about them...
The live action one did make sense, it just wasn’t good and I agree with u, this one is better

Draikinator I think female villains are really cool and fascinating in general because there are a lot more male villains out there than females, so when the villain’s a girl it peeks my interest.

I like how at the near end the background ( or atmosphere) gets darker symbolizing the turning point where Zira was finally losing it. She lost two sons, she was loyal to someone who never loved her in return, her youngest who was supposed to be her pride and joy betrayed her. The animatic gives off the amount of rage and hatred Zira truly has for the world. It is only until the end that she finally lets go of all that anger in a split second, but a split second too late. She is the only character I will ever like from any of the Lion King movies or spin offs.

Vitani is a bit older but they’re about the same age
It’s so nice seeing her story explored more, especially with scar, in the films the pair never show emotion but hatred and anger and you really expressed them well!

Am I the only one who kinda head cannons that Zira changed her name (if you look at her wiki it says her name means hate) I think originally she had a name that was much more positive or loving in meaning but after being struck with grief and having her mate (who she adored and was loyal to above everything) killed she changed her name to Zira, completely abandoning her roots to lead a rebellion of lionesses to avenge scar, her mate, the one they saw as a leader, as THE true king.
It's a good parrallel to scar changing his name, too

this is amazing... i love that it’s darkening the deeper zira gets into her hatred and in her last moments it snaps back to light as it becomes clear to her how blind she was to hate and perhaps regret for what she did. i feel so bad for nuka :(

I always felt bad for Nuka! Poor babiee he was so neglected, and he just wanted to make his mother proud! Not to mention when he died trying to impress her!

Love how in some scenes her big eyes make her look so adorble even when training Kovu to kill. It really just shows that she is a beautiful lioness who went a dark path and she was not as old as we all thought

To those who don't know why: Zira and the Outland lions attacked the Pridelands and ended up with Kiara and Kovu (totally butchered those names) stopped their parents from fighting. I forgot how Zira ended up hanging on to the cliff edge but Kiara rushed to her and offered her help. Zira didn't take it and let go of the cliff edge and fell into the river *D E D*

Im low-key wondering if there could be an au where Scar saw the outcome of Kovus future and chose him over his own son to just create peace, being dead can make you think that if you could change one thing what would it be? I really think it would be interesting for Scar to just genuinely be nice at least once in the afterlife, or if Scar picked Kovu at birth maybe a past king or even his mothers spirit told him that Kovu would be the best option...

1:58 she doesn't even seem upset seeing Scar get killed...maybe she knew it was hopeless to try and save him or maybe she felt so broken after Nuka was rejected by him and how he didn't really seem to care for Zira after he became king (letting all the power get to him, he didn't even seem happy when she was pregnant again unlike the first time...)

And it's weird if Vtani and Nuka are in the same litter. Male lions are bigger than female lions, but still, Nuka was too big to be Vtani's twin. I liked that part about your AU, that they were only half-siblings.
