I always thought it was kind of shitty that Crowfeather walked away from Feathertail, Leafpool, and Nightcloud relatively unscathed. Nightcloud had to watch her son's self worth deteriorate, to the point that he trained with the Dark Forest and tried to kill Lionblaze, all while dealing with the fact that Crowfeather never loved her and had kits with Thunderclan's medicine cat. Leafpool lost her position, the respect she held among both her clanmates and the other clans, and her bond with her kits, discovered that her daughter had become a killer, and keep in mind that Hollyleaf tried to kill her as well, before basically dying twice, none of which Crowfeather was there for. And Feathertail died trying to save him. Every time, Crowfeather has only had to deal with the fact that he has no mate anymore, while the she-cats lose pretty much everything, even their lives in Feathertail's case (and arguably Hollyleaf's as well- Crowfeather's grief comes from not ever knowing her, not from established love like Hollyleaf's Thunderclan kin had for her). All Crowfeather has to do is feel guilty, while the she-cats pick up the pieces of what was once their lives, and I wish the narrative truly acknowledged the imbalance in their suffering. I mean, yay for Crowfeather having the self awareness to realize that he was a terrible dad in Crowfeather's Trial, but he acts like a jerk to everyone around him in TNP, PO3, and OOTS while even the she-cats who put nothing but good into the world (Leafpool and Feathertail) get punished by the story as if they were the only ones responsible for their forbidden relationships with him. He's not the victim here.
That being said, he's a lot more tolerable when he's narrating. However, if I have to literally read a character's mind in order to like them, I'm not gonna like them, sorry. xD - Jak na to + styl

Public service announcement: This may come as a surprise to some, but I've actually read these books. All of them. Recently. In the weeks before I made and posted this drawing, to be exact. Why so many people in the comments section insist that I am attacking Crowfeather or blaming him for certain events is beyond me, but allow me to reiterate my stance. I don't hate Crowfeather. I do not blame him for Feathertail's death, nor do I blame him for the fire incident, or Ashfur's death, or Hollyleaf's exile. I thoroughly blame him for neglecting Breezepelt and treating him poorly to the point that he was vulnerable to being groomed by the Dark Forest, because that is literally what is stated to have happened in the Books. You know, the ones I *read* before I offered any sort of commentary on this. All I have said on the matter is that Nightcloud, Leafpool, and Feathertail have suffered objectively more than Crowfeather has, and that's kind of sad, because none of them really deserved what they went through. If you have any questions, please read the description. If you still have questions, read it again. Please refrain from putting words in my mouth, and have a lovely day!

Crowfeather is described as grayish-black, so it makes sense his son and daughter are gray and black. (Also grandparents. Ashfoot, his mother, is gray and Deadfoot, his father, is black.) And of course Lionblaze looks similar to his mom.
So COULD mean something, but likely just cat genetics.

Feathertail's expression probably is the hardest hitting. She's looking at Crowfeather in shock, like she never would have expected him to do something like this. But she's so the calmest of the group, like she's resigned, knowing this would happen eventually.

She was watching Crowfeather, her pelt ruffled as though she was annoyed that he was standing so close to Leafpool.” Book 6 of The Broken Code, A Light in the Mist. One of the first few paragraphs on page 292. She is probably disappointed, in denial, and just in a confused, “WHAT IS HAPPENING HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN??!!” State.
Amazing art, and about crowfeather, he's a flawed character who seems to just have this eternally detachedness from things going on. It's a neat flaw that makes him a good character, not a morally good character but a well made one. It's what I like about him.

Heres my take on it :
Crowfeather(black/some blue) : bitterness, darkness, ending
Why ? First it fites the colors second remeber when he tried to kill himself ? It fits the story to how he broke many shecats hearts that began with feathertail (blue)his first and true love . Your eyes start at feathertail and ends at crowfeather. Its kinde sad that it began with blue and ends with blue both paired together .

Those paws defenitely (or possibly) represent something.
Feathertail's bg has one small paw and a big paw
And I think that's her (small paw) and sharptooth (Big paw)
Meanwhile leafpool's bg is three paws, which are her children. One paw is bloody possibly referring to hollyleaf and her killing ashfur, and two paws have stars behind them, maybe referring to Jayfeather and Lionblaze
And nightcloud's bg is of her only alive son, Breezepelt? In a place of no stars

I personally like Crowfeather as a character. I think Feathertail was his one true love and since then, he’s been trying to fill that with somebody new in his life and it hasn’t ever worked out. Doesn’t excuse him by any means, but still, it’s a sad reality for some people irl.
I understand why some people dislike him though! Just like how people dislike Blackstar and I personally love the guy.
Idk maybe I have a thing for the rough-around-the-edges type characters.
Patchy Patch I like crowfeather as well, but i personally think in the end he will be with leafpool. I think he thought he was in love with feathertail since she was one of the few cats that cared about him, but they will only be friends when he goes to starclan. I don’t really ship him with anyone, but that is my theory. On a side note, I absolutely adore Blackstar as well!

I think I cracked the case with the backgrounds, correct me if I'm wrong:
Feathertail: I think her background portrays the stalactites from which she fell from to save the Tribe and Crowpaw from Sharptooth.
Leafpool: Her background is the fire that Ashfur trapped the Three in whilst confronting Squirrelflight.
Nightcloud: This one was a little harder and I'm very unsure, but I believe those dead trees represent the Dark Forest, representing the alliance her son Breezepelt formed with them? Idk these are just my speculations

Feathertail: the big paw represents sharptooth and the smaller is her. the background is the stalactites she fell from.
Leafpool: the three paws represent lionblaze, jayfeather, and hollyleaf, hollyleafs paw is bloody from ashfur. The fire representing the fire scene with ashfur and squirrelflight.
Nightcloud: Hers is a bit harder but the paw on hers represents breezepelt walking away from the dark forest and into the light representing his redemption from being in the dark forest.

It could also be Lionblaze’s paw, because he also trained in the Dark Forest and has the power of invincibility.
He also killed Russetfur. But I think it seems more like Holly’s paw, because the other two have light around them, referring to the prophecy.
I relate a lot with Crow’Feather, not many people realize that guilt is a punishment, knowing you didn’t something that ruined multiple cats lives, really hurts, and I’m also trying to fill a void in my heart after losing the person I thought was my soul mate, some people hate him, and think he’s a jerk, but he just is pushing everyone away so he doesn’t hurt them more

well Crowfeather and Feathertail obviously would have been mates, and either way he still really loved Feathertail and lost her so it counts.
But remember, he was still an apprentice and most likely wouldn’t have left his clan to be with her. At the same time, he didn’t suffer as much in that situation either. He was still alive while Feathertail was not. And even if she didn’t die, it was not his fate or destiny to be with her.

The criticism is aimed toward the authors than anything. Feathertail's death was basically just torture porn.
These cats are the cats that Crowfeather was in relationships with right? They look like Leafpool and Crowfeathers kits. Feathertail looks like Jayfeather, Leafpool looks slightly like Lionblaze, and Nightcloud looks like Hollyleaf. This speedpaint is so simple yet so meaningful.
i just wanna say to people that you shouldn’t let others’ opinions of a character change yours!! While you should always be open to new ideas, it doesn’t make you a bad person to like a character generally liked or like one thats usually disliked. I personally love Crowfeather but he’s a little shit who got away with too much. I can fully agree with that and understand why others hate him lol
What did Crowfeather get away with? He grieved heavily for Leafpool and Feathertail. He even tried to commit suicide to be in StarClan with Feathertail. He made up for the shit that went down regarding his WindClan family in Crowfeather's Trial and made amends with Lionblaze. I feel like he's pretty redeemed.

I think its even more sad with Nightcloud when I found out she went through a very painful birth and Breezepelt was the only kit to survive. All while Crowfeather wasn't there for her.

Even with the most minimalistic details in the backround are understandable, like how behind Leafpool theres the fire and three pawprints and like one of them is smeared. corwfeathers trial was such a good book, I loved seeing him actually become friends with Nightcloud again, it was very sweet and I like how their relationship turned out

I agree with your statement, however, Breezepelt chose to side with the dark forest even when he had the chance to realize how awful he was being. He attacked a pregnant queen. Crowfeather is in no way responsible for him turning out like THAT. Yes, Crowfeather did have a bad influence on him, however, he was just..not that good of a cat in general. And also, Nightcloud was a bad influence as well, coddling her son and telling him he didn't need to answer to anyone. In the Crowfeather Breezepelt Nightcloud situation, everyone is the bad guy, honestly. I agree with the rest of your statement, but I feel the need to clarify everyone fucked up in that.
1- I love the art
2- I agreed that the she-cats in a relationship with him had it harder than him
3- it took me a minute but I figured out what the paws meant, and I think that was a cool touch
I'm still trying to figure it out. I'm guessing that for Nightcloud and Leafpool it means the kits (Breeze, Jay, and Lion. Then smudged one is Holly) maybe? But by that logic, it makes no sense with Feathertail.. care to explain your conclusion?
OMG I LOVE MY CROWBOI!!!!!! This is great! I love how the colors in the background of the she-cats PERFECTLY represent Crowfeather)s relationship with them: Leafpool is yellow for happy with fire for the fire scene, Feathertail is blue for sadness with rocks for obvious reasons, and Nightcloud is red for hatred and anger and the thorns represent how terrible the relationship was
Overall amazing art, great job!

I love how there expressions express how they fell about him now not before like nightcloud is outraged after his abandonment. Leafpool is sad because he is cold to her now and never talks. And Feathertail is shocked and a little disturbed on what happened to the cat she loved

Crowfeather is absolutely not a bad cat, and even if you view him as that, he redeems himself fully
Jayfeather looks like Feathertail, and both were constantly held back and told to do things they didn't want to do until Starclan's demands lead them to their destinies (Feathertail- Death and Jayfeather - Medicine cat)
Leafpool looks the most like Lionblaze, and both were social outcasts for thinking they were doing the right thing, both thinking they had been told by Starclan that they were good, only to be harshly betrayed.
and Hollyleaf looks the most like Nightcloud, and both had to deal with someone they cared about lying to them (Breezepelt and Lionblaze, Dark Forest training) and neither could handle the reveal of Crow and Leaf being Holly, Lion, and Jay's parents.

Honestly, I couldn't like any of the 3.
I could relate to Holly a lot though, but as Leaf's apprentice. Lion was too cocky for me to like, and Jay whined and whined and whined.
Dove's love plots just made me wanna die (I really hate the romances in Warriors, the first series had pretty good ones but beyond that was all too forced), and I only liked Ivy's because we got to see the Dark Forest more.

in my opinion, crowfeather is detatched. his rude attitude could be his coping mechanism, being that he's always bitter. he could be always grieving, but in an unhealthy way that's slowly tearing him apart from the inside. he doesnt know how to act toward nightcloud or breezepelt and hes rude to leafpool after she chose her clan over him. he was dependent on leafpool and feathertail for happiness, and since they both were torn away from him he's become more bitter. i believe that hes gotten to the point where he doesnt realize what his actions do anymore, becoming so detatched to himself from his grieving.
and again, he could've had a terrible kithood since we are introduced to him when he is an apprentice. we dont know how he was treated as a kit, keep that in mind. his father could've been detatched like he is, and his mind was trained that way, im not sure about the mother though.
Leafpool walked away from him. And while he was a horrible father he truly loved her and she is the ony who decided to keep it a secret and risk her sisters relationship and her job to hide the fact she broke the rules.
Stupid rules but she basically abandoned her kids.
Crowfeather didnt walk away unscathed
He was in pain over feathertail and then had to face the fact that Leafpool chose the clans over him and that his true kits lived there and would never be his.
He was without his lover and his kin and then returned to a clan who had no respect for him. And so he got a new mate, got a new son, and continued to resent and hate since whenever he opened himself up he got a slap in the face.
That doesn't justify his actions but no ones perfect and none of this is one sided.
It take two to make a relationship.
NightCloud made her choice,(though I feel very bad for her)
Leafpool made every choice.
such as returning to the clans and hiding her kits.
And feathertail....wellll....
Anyway That's just my opinion on the matter. Very well done art piece though.

And regardless of what people think of Crowfeather, I think we can all agree that life in the Clans would be soooooo much better if medicine cats were allowed to have kits, and if half-clan relationships were accepted. Just because it ended badly for Moth Flight doesn't mean cats like Leafpool and Yellowfang should be disgraced for falling in love and having kits.
(Plus, we need Jaybae to have kits so the grumpiness gene is maintained. :P)
mmm having kits being healers would be more difficult for females just imagine there are more warriors than healers and there are barely 2 healers taking care of the entire clan, at least they would have let them have a partner but not kits

Honestly ever since I first saw this video I rewatch it like every single month. If not every other month. And each time I see this video I see and realize more and more especially all the symbolism you did here is my idea of what each part means
Night - Her expression is obviously showing anger and hatred. In the books we see of how angry she is with Crow for everything
Her BG the single paw represents Breeze and him being and training in the Dark Forest
Leaf - Her expression is more hurt and upset. Which obviously in the books we see how hurt she is because of Crow.
I think her BG well to start with the paws. The two with the stars and are lighter might represent Jay and Lion them being chosen and all that. The third with blood then represents Holly and her murdering Ash. The background itself seems like flames or fire. Which might represent when the three and Squilf were in the fire in the camp with Ash. And when the 3 realized Squilf and Bramble were not their parents
Feather - She seems to be shocked and almost disappointed in what Crow has done.
Her BG the paws might represent the smaller being her own and the bigger being the Sharptooth. The background itself looks like rocks, or a falling rock which is how Feather and Sharptooth died

(Dark forest, Fire scene, and Feathertails death) The paws are, big little, Sharpclaw Feathertail, Jayfeather LionBlaze (bloody is Hollyleaf referring to ash fur) And the last one is breezepelt.
All he needs is a ShadowClan girlfriend, then he'll complete the set!!

This video is 3 years old as of writing this and I don't usually comment on things in the Warriors community, but I wanted to write this:
This art is gorgeous! I love the designs for Nightcloud, Leafpool, and Feathertail so much! The colors! The backgrounds! The analysis in the description! Chefs kiss!
But actually why I'm writing this is to say that this was the first time I had heard "The Moon Will Sing" and "Pretty Little Things" by The Crane Wives. This was my introduction to the band! And a while after watching this video and coming back to it a couple times I went ahead and listened to more of The Crane Wives music. And they're my favorite band now! I own some of their merch! So thank you for introducing me to this amazing music.
These songs, and this video will always hold a special place in my heart for that reason! And this speedpaint means too much to me to not put that out there

I really like how the paws really represent something. 1 paw for Nightcloud to represent having to raise her child alone, 3 for Leafpool representing her kits, the bloody one being Hollyleaf, and Feathertail have 2. I feel like the bigger one represents Feathertail being the 'light' Crowfeather needed in his life. The representation in this is really nice and so is the art, it looks very nice!
After reading more comments, I do see how the bigger paw could be Sharptooth, it makes a lot more sense, especially considering the background with it.

Not once have I really thought to read these books, but art like this is making me wonder what kinda story I'm missing out.

Basically the black cat with blue eyes has a wife. That wife dies in order to safe his life. Then another wife comes, but he's unsure if he should be with that wife. Mind you, this wife is illegal and he shouldn't be with her. The old wife tells him it's okay and that he should pursue the new wife. He agrees and then gets the illegal wife and runs away with her into unmarked territory and impregnates her with illegal children. The illegal wife is also a doctor, and learns that her family is literally dying, so she leaves him and goes back to her family and does doctor stuff. The black man is upset, the two wives he loves dearly will never see him again. Now, between marrying these two wives, he had another wife, the other black cat in the speedpaint who's in front of the red and black background. He only married her to show his loyalty to his Clan, and she only married him so she could have children. They end up having children together, but two of the children die at birth and they're left with only one, this child ends up being a gremlin and as much as his father loves him, he does not like him. He doesn't give a whole lot of attention to gremlin child, but he doesn't neglect him and actually saves his life. The gremlin child finds out that his father used to have and illegal wife and illegal children, so he goes insane and tries to murder the illegal children before having a nice chat with satan. His mother and Satan make him believe that his father hates him. He also tries to murder the illegal wife, and his father has to pull him off of her.
I would continue but I'm getting tired and this is taking too long. I'll add more but I'm out rn, peace.

really incredible composition in this! such a unique idea and fantastic execution--the pawprints above leafpool are really powerful, in my opinion. when you started drawing blood underneath hollyleaf's i literally gasped
I think the paws mean like how many kits they had together or something, but I think Feathertail’s backround has a big one that resembles her and the smaller paw resembles Crowfeather. I don’t know, this is a very interesting piece.

No I’m not, go read Crowfeather’s Trial. It says on page 43, “When Breezepelt was a kit, Nightcloud had been so overprotective. Maybe because he’d been the only of their litter to survive.”

Coming back 3 years later to say this video saved my life.
I was young and going through things no one should have, and I had never heard the crane wives music before. I started listening to them and they became my favorite band.
From their music I found other bands and grew my own taste.
In 2021 that music became my sustenance it was the only thing providing me escape and joy. I was extremely suicidal and I fell back on the crane wives music as a last ditch effort to give myself some reason to live just another few hours and release the tension and fear.
I made it. I’m still here.
This video provided me with the tools to keep going and I know that sounds dramatic for a warrior cat speedpaint but it’s true. Thank you.

I personally ship Crowfeather and Feathertail. I feel like he a much stronger connection with her. I don’t really like the fact that he was mates with Leafpool. They showed no personal connection or interest in each other up until he saved her from falling. I don’t really care about Nightcloud

Hes dealing with the fact that the ones he loves leave him. Feathertail died to save the tribe, Leafpool left him for her duty as a medicine cat, and Nightcloud NEVER even loved him, she just wanted kits. I personally think that Nightcloud is one of the worst cats in the books and Crowfeather deserved better than her.
He's broken. He's a sensitive guy and when feathertail died he lost a part of himself. When leafpool chose thunderclan over him another part of himself died. Nightcloud and Breezepelt got the most broken part of him.

You do realize that Crowfeather only got with Nightcloud to prove his loyalty to Windclan? He took advantage of her wanting to have a family to up his own stauts. He never loved her in the first place and literally attacked her in one chapter of the books after she got into a scuffle with Leafpool. And Nightcloud did try to love Crowfeather but due to her not having a good understanding of him she never got to the level of affection like his other mates.
Unnoticed Queen Nightcloud wasn’t innocent either. Nightcloud was only mates with Crowfeather because she was desperate to have kits, not because she actually loved him. She did try to get him to love her, yes, but her original motives for being mates wasn’t because she loved Crowfeather. They pretty much both used each other, each getting something out of the relationship, but neither truly loved each other. And unless I’m forgetting something, Nightcloud was the one attacking Crowfeather. Lionblaze and Breezepelt got into a fight on the border, and Leafpool asks him if he’s going to do anything to split up his sons. Nightcloud says that he only has one son, then drags Crowfeather away, and both her and Breezepelt berate Crowfeather for it. While yes, Crowfeather wasn’t exactly right for being with Nightcloud only to prove his loyalty, Nightcloud wasn’t in the right either.

YES! SOMEONE POINTS IT OUT! Not just as: crowfeather bad he kinda mean tho :(. But as what he actually is, a toxic partner, a horrible, horrible father and overall just a bad person, err.. cat.
Honestly I just want him to apologize. Not in a "I'm sorry boohoo" kind of way, but a proper, apology. Maybe trying to actually get a decent enough relationship with Nightcloud and Breezepelt, not just a "hey let's get along so our son won't probably murder someone again", like genuinely tries to get to know eachother, do stuff with eachother etc. etc.
With leafpool and feathertail it would be kind of, uhm, difficult, with them being dead and everything. And Crowfeather just saying to his leader "Hey can I visit the moonpool for a sec? I need to go apologize to my exes lol" would most likely not work, I'd assume.
So either he has to die, have the cats visit him in his dreams or visit the moonpool.
Okay, so, if he does get to starclan, with whatever method, he goes searching for them/meets them when waking up there. With Feathertail I don't have much to say, it wasn't his fault that she died, so uuh, it's up to you to decide. But with Leafpool, the atmosphere would be a bit tense. They have their little chat about everything and Crowfeather asks for an apology. But I hope that Leafpool doesn't forgive him. He really messed up her life in so many ways, and didn't support her with getting trough it. So honestly I'd love seeing Leafpool reject his apology. I hope that would open up his eyes a bit more on what he caused.
Also end note. I don't hate Crowfeather. He's a decent character in my opinion. I just wish there was a bit more to him.

actually, you're mistaken. he got a super edition a super edition in 2018 where both he and breezepelt got a redemption. he and nightcloud and breezepelt are all on good terms now.
