It’s even the little things like teaching people how to use a spoon to peel ginger that make your videos very helpful. This honey/lemon/ginger tonic is perfect for this time of quarantine.
This is WONDERFUL and is a tremendously good tonic. I love Meyer lemons; they seem to be in season around the end of December, so we buy a big quantity of them and make this tonic them (it's said to be better if you use local honey). A teaspoon a day in tea or hot water - even ginger ale! - helps keep you healthy. And if you do - G-d forbid! - get sick, it REALLY helps with sore throats and coughs
Such a sweet video! I realize now why my first batch tastes different than when my granny made it. Maybe bc I left the lemon seeds and ginger peel? Still good, just different and strong at first taste.. its been in the fridge a few days but now I'm scared! 😅
Yes, lemon seeds tend to turn it bitter. So, I think straining or taking out the seeds like she did will prevent them from turning bitter the next day.
my brother in law includes garlic and ferments the ginger, lemon, garlic and honey. He is even obese but loves his fermented food. He always eats these concoctions. I think the probiotics fro this is keeping him from getting any sick of flu or covid 19 or pneumonia as he is a bus driver (high risk profession) and can't stand wearing a mask too bec of his COPD. Until now, he is always negative for any cold, flu or covid viruses.

You don't have to peel the ginger.

He should try the bone broth, has many health benefits, including weight loss.
Thank you!
Aunty do you have a Pastele stew recipe?
It's on my list. So many to-do.
Is manuka honey okay to use?
Yes, any kind of honey.
Could we do this with fresh oranges instead?
Try it, but different without lemon.
how long can this be stored in room temp?
Indefinitely.
How many times can you refill with honey before you need to put new lemon and ginger?
I eat everything as the ginger and lemon are good for you. You can also drink it as a tea.
Does it go in he fridge or will it keep on the counter?
fridge.
@@HawaiisPickleLady Thank you for the recipe
Aunty isn’t that a lot of honey if you are trying to reduce weight ?
This is not for weight loss.
