This 24’ model is missing so much compared to what the 23’ 261BH has to offer! I guess this one is just a scaled back cheaper version of the 261BH. I’ve got to say we love our 23’ 261BH!
That's because they're splitting the Transcend line to this new price-focused "Xplor" series while other models like the 265BH will step up and get a few upgrades in the "Transcend"-proper line
it is scaled back without question. But thankfully the price tag dropped to reflect that and it's not a case of getting less for the same money
#RVNerdHerd 🎉 😊 🎉
I wish more builders used couches like this.
👍🏻
Thank you for this!!!
You're so welcome!
Big fan of the side out floor plan. Love the living space. Love the door side windows. Love all of the storage on the kitchen. Love the paper towel holder. The bathroom is to small. Love this rv thank you!
You bet!
My 260RB has the Thermostat in the same location - its annoying when in road mode and I have spent nights at sites where the leaves were falling down and didn't want to put out the slide because i didn't have a slide sweeper broom, witch I have now... I'm always checking it when in storage just to make sure i didn't leave it in some mode. Like the much lighter decor and we removed the sliding door from main bedroom and did a shower curtain to get us more room when sneaking by bed.
good video josh
TY Chris. I appreciate your visits and kind words all the time :)
Yes light switches! So many don’t do light switches Thank you Josh!
i know! It's the simple things that really elevate stuff
@@JoshtheRVNerd I put a remote light switch in our TT. Fancy!
that's a great idea!
@@JoshtheRVNerd If you’ve never seen one Josh, I made a short on it probably 11mo ago. It pretty cool.
I really like the kitchen design, the way they give space either side of cooker and sink, no carpet and no vent, cool. I’d prefer a sofa to a dinette if I were keeping the theatre seating, because of having bunks, you’d need seating. I do think there should at least be pockets behind the fridge. Bedroom may only have a curtain but at least it’s not open. It’s a good thing to have a decent size bed, I think this camper is a little short on storage.
I think if I were travelling for work this would be fab, or if I were taking a very outdoorsy holiday.
In comparison to how I used to camp as a kid this would be the height of luxury, so I feel as if I’m being stupidly fussy! #rvnerdherd #nerdherd
Yeah I can get along perfectly well with a camper like this
Josh you are 100% correct Val Kilmer is the best Doc holiday
There's really not a lot of question about it. he just nailed that role in a way that makes it hard for anyone else to try it
Thank god it’s not a schwintek slide. That makes me like this camper 100% more.
👍🏻
Josh this is aGreat lookin Trandsend 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊 on a camper this big I'd really appreciate an outdoor kitchen of some sort😊😊
Thanks 👍
@@JoshtheRVNerd
My Pleasure Josh ☺️👍🏻
Love this camper it would be perfect for me if it had an oven but I love it thanks
That's awesome intel. TY
I like my outside kitchen. It has a griddle and when I want a burner for coffee I just break out the portable stove
Good to know. TY
I am liking the transition that RV manufacturers and GV are making with simple interiors while maintaining quality “bones” of the product. One question and one change:
Is the microwave a convection microwave? I suppose not a deal breaker but that is typically what they’re doing these days.
Sewer hookup. I’m seeing the double sewer hookup on these floorplans with a more price aggressive approach. Not saying it’s impossible, but it may be a challenge for new campers which is who this camper is aimed at. I would like to see that plumbed into rear black/grey line.
Really like what GV is doing and love the Reflection 100 series that they debuted! #RVNerdHerd
Microwave is a standard variety
The video at the link to the Jayco in the description says it’s private. Thanks for the videos and helping us compare these campers!
Oh I probably don't have it published quite yet. Sorry about that. It'll be coming soon. I'll double check it
👍👍
Nice floor plan and I like the basics I would definitely after market a large solar system. Some small upgrades for sure ( toilet, big fan, and just simple stuff.) I'm not a fan of dinette I would rather have another sofa and absolutely would love outside storage behind that fridge
What size solar package woudl you be thinking?
I was beyond disappointed to see a Grand Design RV with no ladder, no solar, a cheap jackknife sofa, no TV, a decades old “Denny’s” diner booth dinette, no oven and an entry level bathroom with a cheap plastic toilet, shower curtain and Dollar Store 4” fart fan😢😢😢
I was thinking the same thing watching this video, they cut out so much, then I realized it is a different model number. I just bought the 2023 261BH Transcend Explore last year, I couldn’t believe how much was cut out on this 24! I’ve got the ladder, solar came with it, nice recliner chairs with storage, a lot nicer booth/table, gas stove/oven, porcelain toilet, retractable shower door, nice wood barn door closing the bedroom off, 2 windows in the back bunks, 32 inch Roku TV, etc! So much missing on this model! By the way, LOVE our 261BH Transcend!
All a symptom of the lowest price point they've ever hit. Means some things had to change. They still have their full "Transcend" like now vs these "Xplor" models that will include more of those features you're seeking
Albeit with a price tag to reflect them
Now that camping season is apon us... I really appreciate the information you present on the weight of these units and decifering weather its 1/2 ton towable etc.
At least in our state...of NY...combined truck and trailer of 26,001# requires a class A endorsement....most new 3/4 tons are 10,000# gvwr, most small 5ers push the 16,000# mark...but in a nutshell...the dealers never let you know that information about vehicle class endorsements to make sure you are ok in towing any of these units....upgraded to a 3500 dually series truck to be confident on out tow not that the 3/4 ton wouldn't do it...but found out i need the class A endorsement for both trucks...😢😢
That's the kind of stuff that gives the entire industry a bad name. I feel strongly by educating you we are assisting you with finding the most enjoyable end result
Is they don't nail that slide fascia trim, it'll just fall off 😂
Are water leaks and frame issues still standard? /s
Frame issues haven't been present on their travel trailers. Or even the majority of their fifth wheels. That's something that's been found in the 17,000lb+ models that are often towed a great deal with aftermarket pinboxes applied in many cases
I'm not saying it's not happening. The flex item is a very real thing for sure. I've talked about it in a video before. But it's not something happening here and hasn't been
Though I would like a higher CCC on this
Does the bathroom have a heat and ac vent?
Appears to have a ceiling AC vent in the bathroom. Unsure if heat is separate system or heat pump/AC.
... Teale 🏜️
Apologies I cannot recall offhand and can only reference what I see in the video. it's possible there's a heat vent in the side of the bathroom cabinet that I didn't display but I cannot recall
I would like to see the difference in cargo capacity between the slide and no slide models.
No slide model with specs right here: czcams.com/video/bldVxTevCMY/video.html&lc=UgyRwqTQIEZfmEQ7lgh4AaABAg
Random question: when do we think we'll start to see 2025 model year changes? Thanks Josh!
MFGs basically can't start blasting model year stuff out until June/July
MOSTLY it'll be August/September which is the normal cycle of things
I'm disappointed. I thought finally, you were going to show both interiors for a good comparison.
Already have full video of the other one here you can see for comparison! czcams.com/video/8e6dzHW5VCg/video.html
🎉#NerdHerd
Low CCC, nice floorplan, very lacking storage, is it built correctly, how's that frame? GD TT frames are splitting on the I beams ugh
Their travel trailers have not been seeing issues. The flex topic is something more commonly found among the 17,000lb+ solitudes and momentums that are moved a great deal and often with aftermarket pinboxes.
Most of that information is often left out when people discuss the flex topic
it is a very real thing that is absolutely happening though not quite in the quantities you'd think by scanning around
@@JoshtheRVNerd unfortunately yes it is happening to the travel trailers as well cracks in the I Beams horizontally. There are so many posts online about these with the pics to show as well going back to 2017s. Imagine line for most that I have seen 2800bhs...etc. One independent shop in Cali California RV Specialists posts them on the FB page all the time owner stated 5 in the last week alone if I'm not mistaken just in his shop in 1 week...and I think they were all Imagines...see his latest video of the brand new 31mb that wasn't even built correctly and how they band-aided the rig at the factory. The back wall and side walls virtually blew themselves apart how it was built. They actually knew it would fail and still shipped it out. Its a shame 1/3 of the quality of 15 yrs ago at 3x the price tag. After owning Rv's for 27 years this will be my last if these manufactures don't start having better QC, materials, and ACCOUNTABILITY ....and like I said 1/3 the quality and 3x the price today. People who say well if you want a quality rig it will be out of their price point...I laugh at that we had quality 15 years ago at 1/3 of the price today so at 3x the price as they were then why not the same quality.
No propane stove.
6k on the hitch weight? Lol
I was just about to say the same thing. I think Uncle Josh has been in Uncle Gary’s private stash. LOL
#nerdherd.
...wait.. what did I do now
oh.. I put the right number but dropped a , where it didn't need to be out of habit lol
it's a shame, they didn't raise the roof, it's too low, woof woof
I do like a 6'9" ceiling but at least they included the longer bed which helps taller folks at night
I think the outside kitchen is not needed
I would not buy a trailer without an outside kitchen.
Joe -- what constitutes the minimums you like to see?
Fridge?
Storage?
Sink
Cooker?
What if it had a fridge and something like a grill hookup that let you choose what you'd like to bring? Would that work? Some of the factory supplied outside cookers leave something to be desired in my experience but I'm always looking for real world feedback
@@JoshtheRVNerd Thanks for asking - love your work! Used to live in Grand Rapids but watching you reminds me of the Michigan lifestyle!
For us, camping still is camping. Prefer to cook/eat outside as much as possible, weather permitting. Not being able to cook outside would diminish the "camping" feel, and depending on what you're cooking (bacon, fish) stinks up the camper.
I have a 2019 Grand Design Imagine 2800BH. Its outside kitchen came with the 2 burner Suburban stove, a fridge, and a lit storage area with a 120V plug. We had an "accident" where I guess I forgot to latch closed the outside kitchen door before travelling; a friendly driver waved us down and frantically pointed to the back of the trailer. We pulled over and the "drawer" that housed the 2 burner stove had self-ejected itself somewhere on a left turn in our recent driving(never did find it). We replaced it with a griddle that fits in the outside kitchen storage area, and find that the 2 burner suburban stove, as you say, left much to be desired in terms of BTUs we don't really miss it anymore. And the space where the drawer/stove was is perfectly sized for storing 12-packs of pop/sparkling water!
So to answer your question, an outside kitchen minimum would be a "dad's medicine cabinet"(ie fridge) and a decent(ie can boil water in less than 10 minutes) propane cooktop, but preferably a griddle. Only having a fridge and a "cooker hooker" would be suboptimal if there also wasn't a storage place in the outside kitchen for the customer-supplied cooker(I'd get a fold-up table to place the cooker on). The lit storage area with plug and a little counter prep space are bonus but not required. A sink is not required and if there were room for a sink would probably wish it were counter prep space instead.
Not related, but on-demand water heaters are a big no-no for me, as is the elimination of ovens.
THIS is the kind of info I hope to get. THANK YOU so much!
Overall I like it. Definitely a first camper purchase, but is it a second camper purchased the second time around? I’m not sure. B-u-u-u-u-t, if you can “Transcend” a message to this manufacturer (and every other manufacturer as well)…. PLEASE install backsplashes behind every counter space, especially behind the sink and stoves. Good grief manufacturers, do you people not cook???? Don’t be idiots.
I'm all about the back splashes idea. 100%
I think this is incredibly cheap looking. I didn't find any redeeming qualities in this. How cheap do you have to be to not put in a door for example. The dinette is incredibly cheap looking. Just NOPE. I don't know who designed this but they did a terrible job
This is the base mode grand Design, this brand is regarded as one of the best in the industry. This trailer is for those who don’t want to spend $70,000 on their first trailer
