I am a Brit. I first visited the Philippines 26 years ago when I was living/working in Hong Kong - a short trip for a long weekend. My Filipina wife of 7 years, whom I met in HK, and I moved here permanently 4 years ago with our son and we live with my step-daughter and niece. We live in Rizal Province. We have property, investments, income, savings and a profitable business. Fortunately, our coffee shop and sari-sari store are right next to a hospital so we have guaranteed through-traffic. We rent out the bed-sits, that we built next to the store, to local nurses. I was doing well in HK but my wife persuaded me to move here permanently. I am glad I succumbed. It is always good to see others doing well. I agree about the garbage!

Unless, of course, your Filipino husband has a drug-habit and a mistress and deserts you while you are a pregnant teenager. Meanwhile, years later he is awaiting a payout from your foreign boyfriend in order to not contend the annulment. I'd rather pay the immigration fees to stay here than give him any cash. I'm not going to 'buy' my wife. Not exactly 'family-minded' or placing a 'value' on family, is it? when you need a foreigner to come in and pick up the pieces and give your wife and children a future. BTW we are around the same age and have our own child together, born in HK, so we don't breach any of the Philippines ridiculous "adultery' laws. I also support her daughter while she tries to better herself at university. Family values? Go ask Daddy and his family where his values are.

Total rubbish. You have no divorce because the bloody Catholic Church is far too powerful & is mixed up in the politics of the Philippines. It messes peoples lives up, is anti-freedom, takes no account of abused wives who end up trapped with a tyrant. Take your rose colored glasses off: the Philippines is the only country in the world that doesn’t allow a divorce. Kick the Catholic Church out of politics & the Philippines will be a far better place to live.

I moved here in 2005 because we were having immigration issues with getting my wife to Canada.
A wife is not cheap labour so we were looking at 3-4 years wait time.
I was homesick for a while, however, as life unfolded, a beautiful child came along my homesickness subsided.
I was planning on moving back once Junior graduated from his International school to enroll him in a Canadian University.
Since 2015 Trudeau's regime has pretty much destroyed everything left great of Canada, I am never going back.
My son can choose once he's finished school in 2 years.
I have been strongly educating him on the insanity of Canada and its Wokeness now.
The Philippines is great as long as we don't adopt those insane Western ideologies.

That advice is good: "Do not look"! After travelling the Philippines several times, I ran into my perfect wife ba k in Switzerland. That happened by absolute conicidence back in 1988.
We got married quite quickly and are very happily together ever since. And we have two wonderful children who are both over 30 years old by now. Honestly, I am very happy that I gave up the idea of having a successful business in the Philippines.
The country is lovely, but I am contented travelling for vacation only. I have travelled the country very exensivly and often in an adventurous style.
Now that I start being older, I am getting lazier.
I am lucky that my wife's family comes from a good background and many inlaws work and live in many countries. But amazingly enough they do not return to the Philippines for good even after retirement.

My wife and I now divide our time between homes in the Philippines and the USA. Snowbirds have more fun and get to enjoy the very best of both worlds.

"Don't Look" Yup. I was at the mall the first morning I was in Angeles. My now pregnant girlfriend had just gotten off work and she happened to come across me as I was sitting outside the restrooms. I was drinking my coffee and needed to wash my hands afterwards. She sat down next to me and asked me to watch a large bag she didn't want to carry into the restroom. When she came back, I asked if she could tell me where the store in the mall was to buy a sim card. I had no signal on my phone so she looked it up for me. We started chatting and when she asked if I was alone, she invited me to go along with her and her co-workers to the beach in Subic. I said yes and I spent the whole day with all of them at the beach. She ended up spending my entire vacation with me and I made a whole group of new friends in Angeles. Now we are expecting our first born in February and working on getting the visa set up. Nothing was planned or forced. Everything happened naturally. Simply amazing.

Thank you for the interesting video, I subscribed to your channel for a reason !
I live in the Philippines for $400 a month.
And this is because this is a resort place and people from the huge Davao City come here on weekends.
And sometimes I can even afford a can of Japanese Sapporo dark beer .
And my motto is “it’s better to wear out than to rust!” helps me in eating seafood.
And if I earn at least $ 300 with the help of CZcams, I will transfer my partner from Davao to the status of a wife)

Two major downsides to living in the Philippines is medical care and education for children.
There are a few decent private hospitals in Manila but quality is only comparable to average hospital in the US. But Traffic sucks in Manila so deciding where to live is a problem.
If you have kids, will need to send to private school as the public schools are overcrowded and not good.

Moved to PH from Canada and stayed for 7 years (dual citizenship). I got homesick. I miss the 4 distinct seasons of Canada. On the whole, I prefer the climate in Canada despite the cold. I especially missed spring season - flowers and you can smell the earth after a long winter. In the PH , it's mainly hot and ridiculously hot. It's nice to not rely on air conditioning. Also, Toronto is multicultural so I missed not seeing the multicultural tapestry of Canada. In Manila, you only see Filipinos and maybe Chinese and that's mainly it unless you're in a touristy area. Other positives for Canada are cleaner air, less traffic, free healthcare and can't forget those polite Canadians.
