What a great idea. As I said before the 59 Ford turned out awesome. You've got 3 things to be proud of. You built a great car. JD is a great son. And you are a great father !! What a team ! Long live Pole Barn Garage.
Thanks!
I really enjoy the dad/son collabs.
“So when your going down the highway each solid piece will come down”😝love it! Fruit don’t fall far from the tree!
Most relatable car guy on CZcams , I swear. Don't ever change
Never will
I love this channel I often kick back and watch this to chill
Michael Angelo has nothing on you. Well freaking done. Absolutely love it.
Thanks!
Wasn't he a Teenage Ninja Turtle....
Must admit I hadn't thought about doing that. The end result is quite impressive! All the different colours and bound together as a single shiny sheet. I agree that spraying it would have opened up a whole mess of worms (a can would not be a big enough receptacle for the number of the little critters involved in this case), so good call to use a brush. It's gonna be interesting driving the beasty at night now - might need to wear shades to hide from the reflective glare when you have a car behind you. Good thing is that if the interior light worked, you'd only need a 5w bulb to light her all up! Ingenious idea, mate. Looks bloody corker!
FULL CREDIT !! Best Dad, Son team on the internet!!! This is a great example of "How to get involved with your kids". If this was an original idea well total props again, GREAT idea and the end result proves that. I found your channel early in its start and from the first couple vids I knew, this guy is onto something. Great work! Great channel! Keep it going! And Thank You for ALL the effort, time and nickels you've invested!!
Someone send him some old casino chips to complete the look! Vegas, here we come!
Yes please!
That headliner, and entire car look great! JD is a working man, he impresses me the way he just jumps in and works on whatever project is at hand. Best team out there.
This is a really cool idea for a headliner. I'll have to remember it.
If I'm not mistaken, casinos punch holes in retired cards so they can't be used by players to cheat. I'm most likely wrong, but it sounds like it would be the right idea.
Seems to be the case
Sometimes they cut the corners off
I love how this came out. You worked hard and kept at it, JD. Proud of you! It looks really cool. 😎
Awesome headliner I'm 67 when I was 16 I have a 62 Oldsmobile Starfire need a headliner so I sewed this Rose flowered material and turned out great my friends thought it was like stupid yeah well I got 5 girls in my car and they had none thanks for doing this I was dead and budget garage
😂 betcha showed them
I have not seen a headliner like the one you created. It is colorful and it adds a little pizazz to the interior.
I think I might put one in the GTO similarly, but with flattened beer cans
@@PoleBarnGarage Do it but only with domestic brands.
Looks great. i've always liked this kind of stuff better than "stock". Makes a car stand out from all the mind numbingly similar novas, mustangs, etc...
Very impressive! Never thought playing cards where headliner matter, looks custom! Congrats JD you got a sweet ride!
Dude, I Truely Admire the Quality time that you spend with your Son. It Proves the Love you feel for your Family. Keep up the Good Work. And all the Builds also.
Use what you got. Being inventive is part of being a mechanic. Your son will remember for life. As long as yinz guys are having fun. Keep up the great work and I will keep on watching
this is the reason I love this channel
Also the reason I love doing it
JD and Dad Dynamic Duo Love you and your son working together this moments are priceless 💟💟
Dalton.....you've done it again!!! 👏🏾👏🏾🤘🏾👏🏾👏🏾
What makes it so cool is that '59 is the perfect car
to do it! 💯 💯 😎 💯 💯
That car is Vegas, Rat Pack, Poker, Rock and Roll, Stray Cats,
Rockabilly, Brian Setzer, Slim Jim Phanton, Lee Rocker, 3000
Miles to Graceland and The Flying Elvises all rolled up into
one.....doesn't get any cooler! 😎 😎 🤘🏾 💯 🤘🏾 😎 😎
Come to think about...🤔 🤔 🤔
Maybe even a "Pompadour" then again, maybe not!
Its already cool enough! 😉 😎 😎 😎 😉
Ngl I wasn't convinced at first but I love how this turned out, a really original idea (and there aren't many of those left when it comes to car customisation.) It's like the equivalent of the rat rod fender covered in stickers thing, only way cooler. I agree with some of the other commenters - paint the roof structure matte black, fix the dome light, and then add a couple hanging fuzzy dice from the rear view to complete the Vegas theme!
JD jumps right in. Like father like son! Rippin roof y’all
This is by far the coolest DIY headliner for a vintage hot rod I’ve ever seen!! Fuck yeah guys!! Love it!!!
I really like that that was a cool idea for a low dollar way to cover up that headliner never thought of doing anything like that
Annnd this is why I subscribed! You and your son ROCK! I hate big money builds.. Now this is hotrodding!
Poor man's got poor ways, that don't mean they can't be cool
That 59 Ford is getting cooler by the day, I would've loved to drive that car to school, getting faster every weekend!!!
Wow, very impressive. Fits the build perfectly!
One of the coolest builds on CZcams...and yes...I watch most of em! I love watching budget builds...true budget builds. Cuz thats what most dudes doing it themselves have...a real budget. Scanning the thrift stores for those cards has me hooked on your channel for life!
You have such a imagination. Never would have thought of that. And JD was down with it. Hope you guys enjoy it! Thank you for sharing!
Totally love this idea! The main bonus is its cheap and quick and doesn’t stop you installing all lining at a later date! Genius 👍🇬🇧
Really cool idea. You guys work great together . Looks fantastic and falls into my budget too! Good job guys.
Really cool idea and cheap too, would’ve never thought about that for a headliner.
Well now! It's right colorful, sure enough. Now all you need is a pair of fuzzy dice and a "Winky the Cat" for up in the package tray.
What a unique idea. I must say that looks pretty badass and very very affordable. Nice work guys.
Very unique. An awesome father-son project beautiful absolutely beautiful. You have lots of heart Dalton. Lots of kudos to both of you.
That’s awesome fellas! Love seeing a young man out in the garage doing stuff like that ! There is hope for the future after all keep it up ! This channel is growing on me !!!!!!
The creativity is amazing 👌🏽👌🏽💥🔥
I wish when I was growing up my dad would have done the same thing you are doing with JD.
That's a part of why I watch your shanagans. Because you truly think out of the box's! Keep It up your boy will never forget these times.
The holes in the Golden Nugget cards is because they were used in the casino then sold in the casino shop, to keep people from bring them in and cheating at the tables back then they would punch holes in the pack. I used to live in Vegas as a kid and we had a few of these packs of cards.
Looks great! you should paint all the inner braces if the roof blue to match and give it a finished look
Amazing! I did that using old geographic maps in my old camper :)
Oh that would be great
All you need now is blue fuzzy dice 🎲 hanging from rear view mirror. Great job on the car👍
That was a stone cold Rocka Billy play. You two are awesome!
I just glued a sheet of $8.00 half inch foam insulation up as my base before I come up with a headliner.
Really really helped with the heat from the sun heating the metal and making the interior 9000°..
Now I have something to glue the decorative headliner stuff too.
I was thinking of modge podge of old car magazines pics, I like this idea too.
Genius!!! If I may make a suggestion, go full "Pebble Beach" and brush paint the top reinforcing satin black - you've sourced some fine brushes! Alsway a pleasure to watch you and JD working together - thanks for the video!
Yes hindsight I wish we would've. Let that clear cure all the way up then I can mask it off I think
@@PoleBarnGarage "Pro Tip "(big air quotes on "Pro") - Use painter's tape (I know, you'd have more $$ in tape than in the cards) AND stick the tape onto your fore arm or pant leg to knock some of the stickiness off before using it. I do this when I am more concerned about damaging the masked surface than I am in the paint bleeding under the tape, and it's still faster and neater than trying to cut in by brush free hand. Works on my car projects, model car projects, and home improvement projects
Me and my brother used a brand new black bed sheet to do his roof, it looked good too.
Brilliant!! This idea may end up being duplicated in my `59 Chevy Biscayne someday. Thank you!
Ok, I left a comment! LOL!! But now on the serious note, this car looks AWESOME! I saw it happen before my eye's and still can't believe how cool it is!! "The Card Shark" would be a cool name for it!! Have someone paint the ace of spades on the trunk deck! I'd feel special if y'all did! 🤘😝🎸🎶🎶🎶🎶
You guys come up with some of the coolest ideas. Love the new headliner. Now I would just paint the metal bars in between the sections blue and call it done
NICE!! Nothing better than hot boxing in a '59 Galaxie with a bucket of clear! It looks like a Grandma's patchwork quilt and gives it a homey vibe.. goes good with Gramma's Couch.
Super neat idea.
Take care Guys!
😂
the playing cards are an awesome touch 👏 👌 I approve 🙂 been randomly watching your videos after watching the full goat build .. gonna start the next pole barn garage video marathon.
In many pubs in the UK you will often find the ceilings are covered in cardboard beer mats and it's gives a similar effect. Great job you two
Very cool. Adds to the fifties vibe. Fun and budget friendly!
Awesome idea!
You might find some cheap checkers tape to cover up the reinforcing parts of the roof and stay with the gambling theme?
Excellent idea, and the very definition of low budget! Nice job boys!
Yep..great listening to dad n son working on the 59'..my dad had a part time job selling Fords at Woody Sanders Ford in Cincinnati..honestly remember him having a white 59' 2dr as a demo..he liked it but didn't have it long..dejavu
That is a very Thrifty & Nifty idea . It is quite a nice look . You can put car cruise stickers and other Automotive stickers over the cards through the years and it will make a very interesting Collage .
I love the stuff your teaching him , makes me want to try the stuff out!
That's awesome dude he put a headliner in
That turned out freakin awesome!! Way cooler than a conventional headliner. Great job guys!
Thanks!
Dude that is a great idea! You might go back and put a couple of kick ass poker hands fanned out in the middle. Royal flush!
Could definitely do that
That is really nice
Wish I had of thought of that back in my younger days
I had a 68 Ford Falcon when I was a teenager. And I stuck 4 Aces fanned out above my rear view mirror on the ceiling because I thought it was cool. Great stuff!
It was cool!
nice!
Poker players get a new deck each game. And the old decks have holes punched through them as proof that the deck hasn’t been used before, and somehow aultered. This was a great idea, I had seen it done once with pin up girl pictures
I can see it now! JD is out with his buddies, one of 'em has had a bit too much to drink, lays down in the back seat... and, "What in tarnation?!!!"
🤣🤣🤣
You it fits I could see someone doing this back then 👍.
A bar I used to frequent had one of their bathrooms covered in playboy centerfolds your headliner idea made me remember that bathroom from all those years ago.
Thought about doing that myself
Hell yeah man glad to see you're getting sponsored! You deserve it! Love the card idea!
Awesome idea! Honestly wish I had thought of this. Might use this idea on another project I have.
Could do it with anything! I think next time I'll flatten beer cans
Like a patchwork quilt that grandma made
sticky linoleum floor squares might work make a checker style pattern using white and black squares.
Turns out fantastic, what a great idea! I'm impressed! That's the real low budget, but with a great result! You could have done that with license plates, too. But they are much more sturdier and heavier, more expensive and you need some real good glue cement. Have done this with playing cards is very inspiring! If JD has some free time he could grab a brush and some tractor paint of your favorite flavor and paint the roof braces - then it would look perfect...
Yep definitely in the works. I think maybe beer cans for the Roadrunner?
JD Dalton thats a great
Bar Top effect👍😃🇺🇸
At first I had my doubts ---- But it is very cool looking !
JD has the custom thing going on
Cool idea, fits the style of the car perfectly. Need some fuzzy dice to complete the look.
They drill holes in them so you couldn't bring them in to cheat. Love your channel keep up the good work.
Love your project, now paint the rods crossing the celling in the blue paint.
That really looks good. I was apprehensive at first but it really unique.
Hell of an idea! Reminds me of MCM manga-bombing a fender.
Kinda gives a whole new meaning to poker in the back seat😁
😂
Hi guys, that's a bloody great idea, it may be low budget but It's cool bananas. Thanks for sharing.
Whenever you get casino branded cards from Vegas or Reno, they come "marked" so that you can't try and cheat with them in the casino. 'Cause they are usually actual used decks that have been retired from the tables.
That needs to be an automotive Pintrist idea.
Awesome idea !
Its looking good too .`
And it sames you and you're son had fun doing this job .
Sometimes it`s more important to have fun and just do stuff .
I remember it was fun when i built 1 front seat out of 2 seats at home for my Pontiac and i used what i had and what i could find .
Excellent DIY project and quality time with the boy. Get R done👏👍
Pretty dang sharp guys. The oil base polys can be thinned w. mineral spirits or a thing called japan dryer .
I really like your style that includes what you do with your son. Thanks for being out there.
What a slick idea. That’s pretty dang cool.
I’ve used liquid nail and an old theater curtain complete with dingle balls.one of my favorite channels on youtube.enjoy everything on here.
Some stuff called Mod Podge which is good for stuff like that. Cool idea.
Did almost same with old movie posters on a 35 ford truck roof and dash Frankenstein Dracula And it I got free and yes wood varnish poly works 20 years still there awesome show
That's a freaking great idea, who woulda thunk it 😎👌🏻
I would like to apologize for the comment I made earlier. It was inappropriate. I enjoy your videos and the head liner idea was great!
Thought it was hilarious 🤷
Now get "The Gambler" hand brushed lettered on the car. Ya'll no what I'm talking bout. Cool video. Thanks. 🇺🇲🍺
Well, now we can't accuse him of being a couple jokers shy of a full deck
🤣🤣🤣🤣
It looks pretty good to me good job. I think your right it will help sound proof some. You did well.
Pretty sweet. I’ve got to do the headliner on a ‘79 Cherokee Golden Eagle. Might have to try something similar
loved the headliner
