  • I check out Pirongia mountain bike park on my KTM Prowler E bike on a wet winter day. To my surprise even in the wet it is a great place to ride with a range of tracks and some beautiful native bush.

That is an awesome Trail. I live in Boston, US and that is the type of terrain i ride on. except you need to add about 20 tons of rock. the Mendon forest i believe is rated mostly Black with 2 or 3 Blues. I use to be DH rider only but since getting my Levo i converted to trails riding and tech uphill rides. it opened up a whole new world for me. Great job.

Hey Lance, on my kiox, I have the battery charge programmed in its own screen next to my speedo screen. A quick flick of the control buttons with my left thumb and there it is. Shows the charge remaining in big numbers and for this 65 y.o.can see it clearly on the go. Really enjoy your videos here in Aus, especially the ones with your ebike mates.

Like you, I didn't take that "grade 5 hiker/bike" 'feral track' trail the whole way when I tried it. It's not on the Pirongia MTB trail map, so I'm not sure where it ends up. Perhaps I'll try exploring it again this coming Summer...
FYI, next time, to end your ride, try riding from the car park up the road to the next junction up, and come back down "Easy As". It's an easy trail (as its name implies), but fun and very pretty native bush. It's a great 'dessert' to end your ride.

@@bestdayevermtb2 FYI, I got a (partial) answer to my question about this trail when I asked about it on the Pirongia MTB Facebook page just over a year ago:
"This is a hike a bike track in native bush. It's basically a walking track with the supple jack trimmed back. It's a hoot in summer and a challenge in winter. There's a sign at the current end of the cleaned up section for riding at around 500m vertically. The walking track carries on and tops out on one of the peaks on Pirongia at around 800m."

Hey Lance Battery % Display can be user changed in the Kiox settings. I customised one of my two split screens pages by getting rid of cadence & replacing it with Battery %. The screen I use most only has Battery % & Range so its easy as to see. Also add camera lanyard to the Kiox to secure it to the bars if not screwed on, that way you don’t have to search for it in the forest after a stack.
