Great video Lance! Rode there for the 1st time and by myself at Waitangi Weekend this year (just after the Auck Anniversary storms) and it was SLICK! Rode pretty much the same trails as you (apart from the jump trail). That clay is 100% hard packed and slippery. I was on my anolog bike with a monster DHR on the back and was spinning the wheel on the ups! Glad to see you stop on the rooty section of Phils Gold (13.50ish) I stopped to take a photo!! those roots are incredible! Need to go back when its dry it a great spot with lots of different trail types. Keep up the good work
Dust bowl was renamed snot bowl with the wet summer and winter. If you hang a left halfway down you could do soiled chamois which lives up to its name since you are into steeper lips and bigger gaps.
Thanks for sharing a other great video Lance. That clay jump trail looks like it goes into the old Roller Coaster down the fence line which I used to do back in the early 2000 . I had a look at Temiro about 3 years ago and that Natives trail wow that’s one hard trail to do with all of the Roots what a nightmare. I did enjoy the PD track I think you called it which was the first track beside the car park. Then the big red was cool. Always looking forward to seeing you on your next adventure
Looks like Te Miro was quite dry for you this time round 😂. Been there when me and bike was covered in mud after doing the Native. I generally prefer Pirongia for nice long down hills to Te Miro's slippy roots. The only down side is the climb to the top of Pirongia trails takes a lot out of me without an ebike, oh, and ride them generally during the drier months. Pirongia gets even more muddy than Te Miro during winter 😂
I love your channel! If you could add a little dry humor to the commentary it would be perfect 🤓 My wife and I are coming back to NZed in December. I’ll have 2 days probably to ride, I’ll need to rent a bike (probably an E-bike unless lift or shuttle served so I can get lots of riding in. I was thinking Waitangi Mountain Bike Park and some place by Queenstown. Flying into Auckland and driving to Cape Reinga (staying in Paihia) but could ride Anywhere up north. Then flying into Dunedin- Stuart island - Queenstown- lake Tekepo. Long story to ask if you have suggestions. Thanks and thanks for the content
Waitangi can be a fun place to ride. They do run shuttles but there is not a lot of elevation. Kerikeri have a great club and make more natural trails. You could contact their FB page. I would recommend joining others for a ride as more fun and a guide is probably essential. Check out my videos from Queenstown earlier in the year. The bike park is good and has Gondola so normal bike fine and plenty to hire. Rude rock is a great ride at Coronet. I love Alexandra if you fancy some steep rocky terrain.

Hi you should go to Summer hill again when you get there there’s a new exit to get out of the jumps Park and the park is good.

Haha yeah mate temiro is my closest mtb park and i never ride those top tracks after rain anymore just way too slippery on that clay😊

Last time I did Phils Gold it was equally wet but we did it as a night ride - I think I fell off 3 times but had a great ride :p
That would be fun. Three crashes is still less than your average ride.😂

Ride Gloworm down to Native and on to Miro or from native to slippery track to the illegal that has a nice drop.
That is a good fun route also.
