We all know what it's like to be a teenager. You were growing up, dealing with hormones, and you really just wanted to have fun and to fit in! Our Anatolian Sheperd pups are learning to NOT ChaSE THE GOATS! It's important to address this behavior as soon as it presents itself. We always try to positively reinforce the good behaviors and make sure they know when a behavior is not acceptable. Many times, a fully trained adult LGD would step in and help curb the pups playful energy being aimed at their charges but since we don't have that here, we are forced into the coaches position!

Oh man, I get it. we are in the beginning of retraining our dogs to goats and pigs, and eventually poultry of various kinds. A couple of notes about things you likely noticed when you watched the video-
Once he changes his behavior, give praise. It helps to use more of the command you want than to say no- redirection, like you say in your description. A tip for training is to video yourself so you can see how you direct.
Less "no" and more specific direction. "No" is more a general command and the dog doesn't know what he did, he just knows it was bad. A command like the "gentle" you used in the beginning and the electric collar would be better for training them, and it sets you up for introducing future livestock.
Thank you for posting this- it brings my attention back to my journey through LGD ownership and we are getting a new dog once we have our current ones solid in thier job so it's a timely reminder.
I'm so happy you're having a great journey so far- it's a huge relief to have doggo employees

Thank you for these tips! I did notice that when editing and we use more specific commands now and it does help. We also got an electric collar and they respond so well to the beeping and vibrations, thankfully no shocking has been needed yet but your tips are great and so helpful!

You don’t suppose that particular goat that he’s messing with could be coming into heat do you? It’s just a thought. they make these collars that give them a little shock and you you can put it on the lowest setting. It’s just a tingle to remind them. Have you ever considered that?

We utilize those collars now, thankfully we only ever have to use the vibrate setting to get them to pull their attention away but it does have multiple settings which is nice. It's a possiblity for her maybe being in heat but she's a vocal girl and she wasn't showing any signs. It's hard to pinpoint when they're this young if there's an issue or they're just being playful puppies :)

Dogs have a very keen sense of something is wrong, regardless of their age. Maybe that particular goat has something wrong with it.

anatolian shepard is an american invention ,a stew of turkish breeds like the kangal malakli boz ,akbash etc..they all have different karakters.your dexter looks much like a kangal.the other one is more boz.but be lucky they dont have any aksaray malakli in them ,they can be extremely agressive and adults weigh over 100 kg easely.i have 2 of those bad boys 2 brothers, both 100cm + at the shoulders and both 100+ kg
