  • In this video tutorial, I will show you the use of vector shapes as brushes in Inkscape to add simple patterns to your illustrations.
I have been working on a brush set with basic lines and patterns for Affinity Designer. These brushes are basic vector lines with a tapered stroke which can be expanded to be a vector shape. I took these shapes into Inkscape to use them as horizontally tiling patterns along a path.
This video shows the way I create a simple design [a fishing boat] and use the 'Pattern along path' effect to create the pattern on top.
You can download the Inkscape SVG file with the brush shapes here:

I am deeply fascinated by your artwork and your design tactics, calling yourself an art guru is not an exaggeration indeed, please keep doing videos like this in Inkscape.

    Your approaches are fascinating.
Note: could you please raise your voice up a little bit, or reduce the volume of the music playing in the background. I cannot hear you clearly. Thank you again!

Thanks… I will check the mix and work out why it seems too loud on the music and too soft on the narration.

A new [better] microphone and different setup make the need for background music obsolete. :)

If you could take the time and effort to share details on how you do or use clipping groups, - would greatly appreciate this. I knownhow to set a clip. Just vague on how to use clipping groups. Thank you again.

@@Ken10001000 LogosByNick has some good tutorials as well as IronEcho Designs too. I'm looking forward to more content by this gentleman as well. I've never seen this technique used on inkscape before. It's quite awesome to see this program used like this.
