$699 for a 16 core zen 4 processor sounds pretty good too me. I’m still waiting for reviews to make my consideration on what to get in the zen 4 family but I’m happy AMD didn’t increase prices.
i havent owned amd since 2004, but if the 16core can boost to 5.7 but the 12 core can only boost to 5.6 are they artificially limiting it? is amd easy to overclock like intel so the 12 core can also hit 5.7?

Technically, due to inflation, if the price had remained numerically unchanged, that is still a price cut.
None of their new processors are called the Extreme-edition and are priced $1100 for a 10% performance increase that you can do yourself. The higher-end models actually has more cores. I respect AMD for doing more logical pricing.
The thing Interesting is that the 7950x is $699 and not $799. The 7700X is $399 but it's the 7700x and a possible 7800x would be $449 anyways. I think if AMD where to bring a 7600 out sometime next Year. That would be $200-$240.

@@girlsdrinkfeck We are talking perfect PC, not a great PC.

Price cut for AMD was top end part.
Right now we have no idea what AMD is doing for 8 core parts because the naming changed, so based on a 7700X being $400, it's $100 USD higher than the 5700X but $50 USD lower than the 5800X.
Without knowing what AMD plans for 8 core parts we don't know what this is. The 7600X and 7900X parts are the same price as previous gen.
What I know is these parts are going to butt stomp on Intel 12th gen for gaming. When the 7600X beats the 12900K in 1080p gaming on avg. by 5%? I mean Intel was having to jack up clocks a LOT with that part. So, going across similar products in each stack AMD is going to win across the board.
So, now it's pretty obvious what will happen with 13th gen in gaming and it's what I thought. Intel may pull a little ahead with some parts. And then AMD launches Vcache parts and it's destruction in many game titles. Intel has nothing until Meteor Lake to compete with Zen 4 Vcache, but the problem for Intel is AMD is launching Zen 5 next year based on what they just said. And that's a totally new architecture for AMD which should get rid of some of the limitations of Zen 3/4. It should allow for much faster memory kits without there being an issue with timings for one.
I'm really impressed with what AMD is doing because they HAVE done exactly what they said they would do with disrupting the gen to gen 5 - 10% improvement. Ever since Zen+ to Zen 2 AMD has been giving significant improvements each gen, and Zen 5 should be the same. Zen 6? Probably not, but that will be the last upgrade for AM5, and clearly AM5 is a true gaming platform.
Why would the new architecture allow for faster memory kits without timing issues?
@@SomethingCool51 Really???????????
Consider this situation between timings for IF and Memory doesn't exist, you can ponder that one for a while.
Maybe I could have made myself more clear. Zen 4 is an upgrade to Zen 3. What this means is even though AMD has improve the infinity fabric, the timings between the infinity fabric and memory still need to maintain a 1:1 ratio to minimize latency. In case you didn't know.
So, AMD, according to leaks that at this point I say are pretty accurate, AMD can clock IF up to 3GHz. This means that to minimize latency, memory timing is limited to 3GHz. That means memory kits of 6000 is MAX for limiting latency in the CPU. This doesn't mean you can't run faster memory kits, but it will come with a latency penalty.
So, if AMD let's say changes the entire architecture to where those timings are decoupled (IF, memory) THEN a person can get DDR5 kits that can run much faster without screwing up latency.
I hope that helps.
