Jennie Bond Opens Up on the 25th Anniversary of Jill Dando’s Death | Loose Women

- Royal correspondent Jennie Bond will be joining us on the 25th anniversary of the sudden murder of her close friend and fellow newsreader, Jill Dando. Jill was tragically shot dead on her doorstep on 26th April 1999, and her death sparked one of the largest criminal investigations in Britain and was considered one of the biggest homicide investigations ever conducted by the Metropolitan Police. Nearly 25 years later the case remains unsolved, and several theories have emerged over the years. Jennie will be reflecting on that fateful day in the newsroom, and how she wants her dear friend to be remembered.

I remember when this happened I just turned 16 years old and started sixth form college. I was on the bus coming back from college and a man opposite my seat was reading the newspaper and her picture was on the front page. I was in shock and couldn’t believe it because I would watch the 6 clock news and crime watch every Tuesday so it was really shocking! My gosh I can’t believe it has been 25 years.

I was eleven years old at the time. I'm 36 now. I remember my drama teacher Anna Scher saying: "Jill Dando. Murdered!" The shock just resonated through out the whole of The Anna Scher Theatre, Islington. London.
She really was great. I still remember so clearly the day it happened. Coming into my house and turning the tv on and seeing it. It was so shocking and it is unbelievable it has been 25 years.

It was actually thought the intended target was Sophie Wessex as both her and Jill lived in Fulham, and Jill was mistaken for her.

Surely we all knew she was shot not stabbed.
Strange too that they were spinning the lone stalker theory off - the - bat on the same day , preconceived, even before they realised she was shot and not stabbed.then Barry George was pursued from the get-go too. He didn't even own a mobile phone, yet the killer was seen carrying one.
The initial report was a stabbing I think 🤔
@@GrainneScarlett the neighbours thought it was a stabbing because of the amount of blood and the way her body was scarred. So, it became the early statement or theory that did the rounds before officially the gun.

I think it was a setup and I think she knew her killer, it’s just so strange that she had to go back to her house to pick up some papers and somebody crept up behind her on her own doorstep with a gun with the intention of ending her life
Definitely the same way as fellow journalist Veronica Guerin died by gunshot, it was a reprehensible thing for anyone to do.
I think she was getting too close finding some truths in person/people she knew, got a hit out on her....JD would not of been bought off!

Not strange. She was living with her fiance at that point but popping back to her own house to pick up clothes etc. People see conspiracy theories everywhere and it's really unhelpful.
