Should I get an E-bike? I demo the Specialised Turbo Levo and get my hands on the Trek Rail 9.8 riding in the Shropshire Hills. Bringewood and Bucknel tracks.
I'm like you 41. Have a 7 year old and work shifts so get as much training in as I can I've been MTBing since I was 13. Last week I went to coed y brenin... did the beast and dragons back the next day. Day three I was done in! So I hired a ebike a trek rail 7. Best day on a MTB ever for me. Loved it. I still pushed on and was blowing out my arse at times using just eco mode. Love it so much I've just ordered the Rail 9. I wanted to hate ebikes but it turns out they are utterly awesome.. The rail goes downhill like my canyon sender 🤣. Love it
Man I hear you. I've been riding for 10+ years but since my kid arrived, time is scarce. I will be retiring my Trek Remedy for an ebike to ge the max out of those MTB-dad mornings and still have energy in the afternoon for my kid XD
I think you hit the nail right on the head. I also have 4 kids and am a surgeon. I originally also thought of an e-mtb as "cheating" and now realize it makes a lot of sense. I don't need to spend 60 minutes getting up a mountain when halfway up I get called to go back to the hospital. This allows me to spend more time having fun and for days when you want to push yourself you can use the lowest mode or even zero assist. Congrats on the baby! Now you need to add a baby seat to the back so your kid can have fun too.
I’m 38 and been riding most my life. I have raced XC, road bike, cross bikes, enduro bike and have recently bought a rail 9.8. I can say hands down it’s the most fun bike I have ever ridden! U can smash out loads more laps which means more fun down hill!!!, I ride so much harder on an Ebike than I ever do on a normal bike, therefore doing more exercise!,
Hit the nail on the head there. Same age as me. I used to plan my riding around uplifts but now I can uplift myself. It's definitely tiring after a full day out on the eeeb
I ride ECO mode most all the time. Because the bike weighs 50 lbs, suspension, mtb tires 25 psi, the eco mode basically lets it ride like a light hard tail. When I ride with friends on a social bike path ride they are on road bikes with skinny high pressure tires with my off road monster with eco mode I can stay with them comfortably. Hills , what hills? I used to plan my rides based on keeping away from hills, now I simply don’t care when I’m cruising down a hill knowing that I’ve got to pedal back up…game changer. I bought a turbo Levo comp. availability, a local dealer, and $ 800 off retail for the 2021 sealed my choice. The range of choices are many. I knew the base specs I was looking for and the price range I was willing to pay. I have zero regret for my new EMB, I can’t stay off of it!!
Hey. I've now got a Trek Rail. Bought it a few weeks ago and been riding it different places. I'll make a Trek Rail 9.8 riding edit and put it up soon!
I have a Trek powerfly 7 sport equipped as a "Car" for commuting every day to work. Was thinking to get a regular MTB for exercise etc, but now i feel like you. Time is precious and i want to get as much fun out of it as possible. So i might pick up a Trek 9.8 or 9.7. Trek are quiet pricey. But i love the shape and lines of the trek bikes like you. i like the perspective you give to ppl who think its just for lazy ppl. I get more exercise on my Ebike then my collegue who cheat by take the car 3 times a week instead of getting on his road bike, while i bike every day to work.
It's great that biking keeps you fit but it's also a wicked way to have fun and fitness is a good side result 😁 I think obviously you might get stronger and fitter riding hills on a normal full suspension or hardtail but I know so many people that prefer uplift and with the ebike you have your own fun uplift. It's pricey sure but you can spread the payments these days which makes it possible. Cheers bud. And get one if you live somewhere you can get to those hills
@@billysbikingchannel5698 Well ofcourse it will get you more fit, but my job is very active and quiet physically heavy. So i weekends i use to recover. So Ebike is my in my line. Sucks to be limited to battery but oh well, we'll see what happen :) Yah its amazing! i dont care about other when i pass them by climbing a slope. I just mind my own. As long as people choose the bike over the car im happy.
Hello Lukasz I'm 5.11 and on a L. I think it's right for me but also think if you like going mainly downhill you could put a short stem and riser bars on it and you would enjoy at your height. For an all-round bike the Medium would be a smarter choice.
@@billysbikingchannel5698 Cool, please include all the links to parts needed, rim, hub and cassette. I am a novice when it comes to making mechanical changes to a bike.

Very admiral job you have sir and impressive you have time for this plus 4 kids. Thanks for the message and I'll do my best with the kid on the way
Honestly 90% of the people complaining simply can't afford an emtb
I got the lowly rail 7 but I love it

I want one so I ordered one LOL. Be here in June 21
Second half of video much better than first half
Nice one. Once I got used to the size and weight of these machines it got way more fun!
Those people are just jealous, how is it cheating if you're not racing anyone? Whatever gives you more fun wins.
Did you went to the trek or the levo?

Who cares, it’s about having fun. And If an EMTB can give you more fun, then go fir it! Enjoy
