    We have now been using speedboxes on all our Ebikes since 2019 and still have no problems. We are very careful to never turn the bike off or plug the power in until the bike times out and shuts itself down. We have them fitted to Scott, Canyon and Haibike models. All Bosch motor/controller units.

    I ride ECO mode most all the time. Because the bike weighs 50 lbs, suspension, mtb tires 25 psi, the eco mode basically lets it ride like a light hard tail. When I ride with friends on a social bike path ride they are on road bikes with skinny high pressure tires with my off road monster with eco mode I can stay with them comfortably. Hills , what hills? I used to plan my rides based on keeping away from hills, now I simply don’t care when I’m cruising down a hill knowing that I’ve got to pedal back up…game changer. I bought a turbo Levo comp. availability, a local dealer, and $ 800 off retail for the 2021 sealed my choice. The range of choices are many. I knew the base specs I was looking for and the price range I was willing to pay. I have zero regret for my new EMB, I can’t stay off of it!!

    I think the US limit is actually 28 mph. As is the Netherlands (45 kph). Which lots of good road bikers can do as an average speed anyway. An amazing rider like Ganna rides his time trials at about 33 mph. The current 15.5 mph assist limit is a ridiculous limit on the road, fine for the elderly but useless for most fittish people on a road bike.

    I think you hit the nail right on the head. I also have 4 kids and am a surgeon. I originally also thought of an e-mtb as "cheating" and now realize it makes a lot of sense. I don't need to spend 60 minutes getting up a mountain when halfway up I get called to go back to the hospital. This allows me to spend more time having fun and for days when you want to push yourself you can use the lowest mode or even zero assist. Congrats on the baby! Now you need to add a baby seat to the back so your kid can have fun too.

    Funnily enough, Bosch is pretty lenient when it comes to their motors and even if you have the speed box installed and something happens to your motor you can still send it in for warranty, without the speed box installed of course, and they will have your motor fixed

    How do you know what Gen motor you have? I've just bought a cube acid hybrid, with Bosch performance line... Really wanted to derestrict, but as per other comments here, I'm reading that Bosch can detect this and goes into permanent limp mode after 3 errors. Apparently this is on Gen 4 motors, but Bosch have upgraded firmware on older generations too on new bikes sold. Will be interesting to see if you have any issues.. thanks

    • @billysbikingchannel5698
      @billysbikingchannel5698 Před 4 lety

      Looks like your Cube is Gen 3. Everyone's been worried about the Gen 4s getting detection but I was told that that detection software is supposed to read if you have a mechanical device tricking the sensor such as changing aspects of the chainring. Also older speedbox and others are now detected. Speedbox 3 being new has managed to get round Bosch software but I'll know in 500 miles or so. I'll do a long term review

    • @NetMillionaire
      @NetMillionaire Před 4 lety

      @@billysbikingchannel5698 They key I read is too not turn the bike off when you have finished riding, otherwise the motor can detect its been derestricted and goes into the lymph error code mode, just let it switch it self off or wait until it goes to 0, that's what speedbox said, and it will work fine.
