  • On today's adventure, I extract the material from in between flakes of limestone bedrock from an abandoned quarry in search of glacial gold. Today's giveaway is a 1/4 inch bucket classifier! Leave a comment, every video is a giveaway!

      @@wisconsingoldrush8270 actually yes! But some of it I had to really crush the good looking peices, but what you are doing is right, keep checking,it's there! Im rewatching now, take a wire brush and it really cleans up the ones wished that you could get wet.

    I've heard of scraping out the material between the lime stone/bedrock layers. Keep it up don't stop just because one time you didn't find anything. I would probably do this more around Major Moraines, or if you knew there were glacier till in the surrounding hillsides. Matter of fact I'm glad I watched this video we all learn things and we all forget things, this will have to be a tidbit of information when I'm searching my soil maps to look for.

    Thanks for sharing. Yeah thats that’s very interesting. Good idea about the cracks and crevices in the limestone. Never would have thought about looking for gold in that. Too bad you didn’t find any besides those tiny micros. I was hoping you find some gold. That’s stuff was nasty to pans out. Very dirty dirt. Lol. Congratulations to the winners.

    I'm currently working in an active limestone mine in western Wisconsin, we just blasted 80k tons of material and I've been saving up the "concentrates" from our wash plant. Every handful of material I test pan, I get at least 100 specs of gold. I've gotta get a cleanup sluice to process it all though.

      That gives me hope! I intend to try other spots besides this one, how deep into the ground is the Quarry?

      @@wisconsingoldrush8270 its about 40 feet, but it's all crushed together before we wash it so there is no telling exactly where it came from. There is some quarts veins here and there so maybe near that. Once we're done washing im going to explore a little more.

    Last weekend I went back to where we rock hounded a couple weeks ago and panned some black sand bars about 15 ft off shore, great material to go through and fun to just kinda sit in the lake while panning, but didn't find much. Worth another try though

    Checking the lime stone was a great idea but I think you’d have better odds on river bedrock like James down there in W. Virginia lol . Where I’m located in Michigan hard to find bedrock, but there’s a lot of gravel bars in the creeks around me .

    The result is (slightly) disappointing but the video is not! I live on limestone and was pretty sure there's no gold here, your video just confirmed it, but I'll keep hoping lol.

    Looks like a blast! I'm going to pan the creek in my Dad's back yard. Pretty sure I'll get skunked, but it sounds like a good way to kill time. Sucks Southeast WI doesn't have a lot of options. If you know of any decent places, let me know!

      Your creek is as good a guess as any! I haven't found any spots that are particularly better than any others. You either get a couple flakes or Nothing at All. Of course if you are willing to drive, Nugget Lake County Park in Pierce county is the best spot in Wisconsin!

    I remember reading that a majority of hard rock gold veins originate in either metamorphic or volcanic rock maybe a good place to check out if there’s any local Sources near the surface macrostat geology maps is what I look at I definitely think that anything is worth the time for testing I actually saw a few old mines near where I live were discovered during road cuttings it wasn’t even someone looking for

      I will have to check out those types of maps! Wisconsin is mostly covered in mounds of glacial till, but I will have to check and see if we have other types of bed rock besides Limestone here

      @@treasurehuntingnewyork5979 Lots of the boulders I see are volcanic rocks from the glaciers. I even saw a boulder the size of a van that had a huge quartz vein going through it. I've been tempted to try metal detecting them in case one came from a large piece of gold vein. I mean who knows? I slave all day for a few flakes from rivers, maybe it would be worth my time?
