Near where I live is one of the richest gold deposits in North America. It was so rich that during the local gold rush the first prospectors only had to walk along the creeks and rivers and pick up the nuggets from the banks. They hammered the area pretty hard, but they were focused on the easy stuff (1/16 of an inch to 5 inch pieces). That means they dumped a LOT of the flour gold and small flakes in their tailings. However the also washed away a lot of the light stuff in the process so you don’t really find much in the smaller gravels and sands. So I go and check the tailings piles with large rocks and chunks of fractured bedrock. Often I have to move quite a bit of rock to get to where the gold has settled, but when a couple hours of work gives me enough material to run a sluice for an hour and pull out an ounce of flour gold, it is worth it.

After watching the hard work that goes into mining and extracting precious metals like gold, I understand why my old man always said that the stock market is the closest man has gotten yet to alchemy. Creating stupendous amounts of money out of thin air. Humanity always wanted it easy lol!

Lol. Tell that to the Warren Buffet’s and Charlie Munger’s. Actually some others are good. Cathy Wood predicted a rise in oil prices due to the Ukraine situation. My own adviser Mary Elizabeth Huxley also predicted that precious metals will go up during a recession after the pandemic. My portfolio has grown over $400,000 in 8 months so I guess some are better at prospecting stocks than others

I usually check where everyone else hasn't. I once mined out what was a miners dam back in the 1850s. I didn't realize what it was until you explained it in one of your Virgin ground videos. They had used unwashed dirt to make the dam and I was looking for an upper bench deposit. I'd have my kid clean down to the bedrock and he'd Bring it to me in a bucket. we cleaned up with a sluice box and took about five grand a month off that spot for two and a half months. We got the rest of the deposit too.
The old timers didn't really finish it cause they were run out by the local first nations. Being Indian myself I just asked the local tribe where they would look and got hot tips from their history. That's what one gets for being polite and asking permission from the locals. I didn't half to ask and they didn't have to help me, but politeness goes both ways.

Hi buddy, I always check the outside bend across from any inside bend that I find gold on. The reason I do this is because if there is a large crevice or outcrop of bedrock on the outside bend, then there would have been some back eddies and low pressure areas downstream of said outcrop. And the crevice would act as a riffle. I like your ability to think outside the box. As always, thanks for you output

    • @akakscase
      @akakscase Před 8 měsíci +3

Outside bends tend to get blasted clear of any fines, but I always check the ones in my areas because those are the nugget or nothing zones. I’ve pulled some fairly decent nuggets out of those areas, but you also have to be in an area where nugget are known to be.

Got a secret for you Chris. I hunt around power poles in areas like Kilkivan and Eidsvold. The deep excavation has been done, and the piles of pay dirt are ready for the taking, easy to classify too. I usually get gemstones, but have hit gold in the right areas, usually where power lines hug the road over old river beds. Give it a try, I've got some nice sapphires and gold for my efforts.

I have never panned for for gold, but have secured gold from miners who recovered gold from quartz deposits, a different method of recouping gold.
Back in the 70's and early 80's gold prices were high then, not as high as now, but it was worth buying and selling.
I wish I were younger and so inspired to look for it again.

This is a trick I use too. A lot of the creeks and river in my area get “moved” around by various means (earthquakes being the root cause of most of them) and it is always fun to go and check the old river channels for deposits. I also run guided trips on some pretty substantial rivers in my area and surprise the people I’m guiding with pulling gold out of most of them. It never ceases to amaze them when we stop for lunch, I grab my pan and in the course of about 15 minutes have a neat little pile of gold sitting in a pan for them to gawk at. My most successful areas are those where the river has moved from one channel to another.

I've found that actually outside of the bends is really good with small gold it's floating in the column and gets smashed up against the out side of a corner as the water tries to switch direction quickly. But we also don't have pickers so we are looking for micron gold but its a place people won't look at because as you said everyone knows "inside bend" think out the box and you'll be surprised from time to time.

We have a Highway Overpass nearby and I recently realized that there is gold along a concrete rainwater diverter. It presents a rough spine which catches gold.
The wind only blows in one direction due to the way the trees have grown. The sand fill under the bridge was dredged up from the creek (reason for the overpass) almost 65 years ago.
So, the creek sand (deep bottom sand) has had wind blowing in one direction across it carrying it to the rough concrete spine where so much of it drops out.
I grab my Milwaukee M18 wet/dry lunchbox vacuum and try to suck it up. Not huge success so far however I was fascinated by the explanation I came up with.

From the sound of it you are in Australia. If you go to the websites Chris has mentioned there are several areas that are handi-accessible. Another option (one a friend of mine uses in America) is to get a smallish whitewater kayak (Pyrannha makes a few really good ones) that you can use to get up and down the creeks with and reach areas that you normally wouldn’t be able to. With a little practice you can kayak to a spot, dig and pan from the kayak. A few small modifications would allow you to haul quite a bit of gear with you too!

Chris thank you for choosing to be a Gold prospecting activist for social improvement! You’re always thinking of your fellow men and women, and helping them to get out and enjoy nature and to improve their financial stability! Chris, you are amazing and anyone who says otherwise is a troll and refuses to use acne medicine. Basically what I’m saying is that people who are trolls or mean SOBs cannot handle viewpoints that contradict their own, thereby trying to get other people to not listen to other viewpoints there by limiting there free will.
Thank you Chris for being a champion for the masses.
    You rock!!!

While scouting for visual gold signal during the dark night I found a golden teardrop behind a small plant that was growing.
I had heard of them and finally found one. They form directly downhill behind a plant in the shape of a teardrop 2cm to 5cm wide. Fuk Freedom Units.
If I hadn't been so excited I would have remembered to take a picture of it. DOH!

My best payday ever was up a hill side after a flood washed away half the back and a tree feel in the root system of that tree the was decaying bedrock I was getting 0.3-0.5grams a pan (estimated) walked away with 7.3grams after only a few hours panning (5-6hours) and it was a good 3-4metres above the creek
