If you are prospecting in rivers and creeks, then this is some really good info for you guys that will take your skills on finding Gold up to the next level. If we missed anything or you have better ways of prospecting these water ways, we would love to hear it so throw your experiences down in the comments section ....that way we can all be better at finding that Shiney and if you want to see more videos on upping your prospecting skills then watch this czcams.com/video/q1jdlkF7EYg/video.html and we will see you on the next video.
Always need more skills on finding that shiney.
Upper benches above creeks and streams.have produced a lot of gold for me in the past.
Walking along one day in the mountains I looked up the mountain side and saw round smooth cobblestones. I started digging into them and found black sands and red garnets amongst the cobblestones.
I sampled in several places and low and behold it had a lot of gold 3/4 of the way up the side of that mountain.
I was not a seasoned prospector back then but it didn't take me like mg to catch on and learn a valuable lesson.
Thank you Jeff!
Jeff! Can you do another video on sampling road cuts. I've seen some nice stuff along interstate 40 in AZ. And is it legal to dig on the side of the highway?😂
I'll be looking for this type of activity in the Klamath trend area of California and South Oregon. It's snowing here in Spokane, Washington, so I'll have to wait till summer.
hell yes! finally a man who teaches and isn't worried about how he sounds! love this guy!
thanks
Walter Houston, took lessons from this guy.
I am also a teacher. I am one of the only legit gold prospectors on CZcams. You should all respect me.
Very loud simple and to the point. If all my teachers throughout my school years were all like this I would have remembered mostly everything instead of forgetting everything.
Watching you look for gold has given me gold fever. Yeah. I bought a metal detector from a pawn shop. Went out to the backyard with a pie pan and garden hose to find gold. LOL... GONNA GET WET! My house was built on a dried up ancient creek bed. Rocks everywhere. So I am going to 😢 dig it up.😂❤🎉
I hope you find a lot of that beautiful shiney!
@6:31 - Tilt your head and mica goes from shiny to gunmetal grey. That's how you know it isn't gold. When you have gold, the shine follows your gaze. It shiny from all angles.
Now that's some good information 🤜🤛 .
What about pyrite?
I recently purchased a gold mine it has two springs and a pond, I am super excited to start prospecting this spring
This guys got some of the best energy around! Keep it up and thanks for all the advice Jeff :)
I would pay good money to have him yell at me.
"Yeah, you're gonna get wet !!" I love watching these compilation series ! Really a lot of good info for us prospectors. Thanks for putting this together Jeff & Lila !!
hahhahaha yes you are my brother .....thanks and we hope that it helps everyone become better prospectors and gold miners ....always our pleasure
Wear fishing waders
Haven't done any gold prospecting yet. I have a metal detector and gold pans, just don't have anyone to go with. I am a disabled Veteran and nearly 70 years old now, and I ain't giving up yet. Cuz my name is Mica.
you can do it my brother
I live in Oregon and there's bunches of gold in the riveouths out here. The springs are abundant in gold too.
Thank you for your service, Sir. I sincerely hope that someone will go with you so that you can enjoy prospecting.
I'm heading to Alabama for metal
Heading to Alabama May 4th to 7th let me know if you can
At that creek, I would first be looking for brook trout.
Your videos are awesome, Jeff. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us.
you betcha
I have a spot on Callahan Creek outside of Troy, Montana. It is a terrible hike to get down there but it is a nice inside corner. When I was a kid I watched my father snorkel in about two feet of water with a pair of tweezers and a film bottle. He covered the bottom of that bottle with decent sized flakes, mostly pickers in less than two hours. He was in the middle of the creek favoring the inside corner but at the very end of the corner. The downstream end.
This was like a Reader's Digest of some of your previous videos on finding gold. I have seen where using a small portable battery-operated vacuum works well to suction out those crevices in bedrock too since crevasse tools can't get to it all. A water suction device sounds like a good option too. This was nice to have a lot of your gold finding tips in one video so I will save this video for quick reference. Great video too.
thanks
Jeff , you are such a gift to anyone who loves the outdoors. I know my mood changes the first instant watching a video of yours. Thank you for your gift to us. So many Awesome videos you have given to us. I hope to be able to get away from work and apply your principles. Now on to another of your videos. .
Thanks 👍
Straight to it! No BS, self-serving intro, just down to business. Perfect!
BTW, this method sounds kinda like the one on The Legend of Buster Scruggs.
I'm glad this turned out better. 👽✌️
Buster Scruggs. Yes.
Mr Williams you remind me of George Massy "the buzzard" i would watch him in the 80's when I was a kid with my dad. Thanks for the great video and the memories
good times
There's no gold in my area but it's interesting that some of the same ideas apply to other types of rocks. I'm always looking for chert and the head of an inside bend is where the good big stuff drops out, which causes a layer of silty clay to buildup at that level. Everything from trash to artifacts ends up getting stuck and all you gotta do is let nature pass enough gravel over it. Might have to try panning some of it just for giggles.
Thank you Mr Jeff...Love the concise and relevant info! Great health to you and yours!
thanks and you too my brother
I’ve learned so much watching Jeff and I’ll watch his videos until the day I die even if I get to where I can’t prospect I’ll still be watching his videos thank for all the knowledge you’re videos are very helpful
thanks , really appreciate that
Very cool, yet again. I have to mention here that this is almost exactly how you save time when hunting many hill and forrest mushrooms that happen to grow from the ground. We follow the dried up water flow lines over the earth until the water stops and organic debris piles up. The only real difference with mushrooms is that it's best to start at the top of the hill, look down carefully, and slowly work your way down. In this scenario, the organic debris in which we usually find boomers in the woods is far from mineralized and takes place in forested areas. There many mushrooms are found growing from debris piled up at and around the bases of trees. But that's where the fungi come in, converting organic sludge into minerals in the form of nutrified soil. I think there's a connection. Also, mushrooms tend to accumulate growing traces of minerals in their tissues and might be possible indicators. I would love to read your response. Cheers
Thank you for the lessons my friend always a pleasure watching a pro at work. Be safe ✌️ 🙏
FANTASTIC! Can't wait to try this!
at first glance it seemed familiar, but there was some great learnings here for those who are eager. thankyou for reminding me that the era the upper benches were formed was when gold was deposided in my region, and all the later eras just put it in the river. thankyou for good lessons
you betcha
Watching this late at night...got me motivated and excited...gearing up and heading out...pumped 👊💯💥👏
I just learnt so much in a few minutes, great clarity of information.

Now I can go look in decker canyon California and my friend years ago found gold in the decker canyon creek. It's mostly ancient volcanic grounds throughout the Malibu mountains.
Ur video is very helpful 👌
Was always curious about areas as the one in ur video.
Lots of them here creeks
Great explanations Jeff it took me 6-9 mths to be able to read my brook and tributaries. But I finally found source and best type gravels. And the teating was well worth it. I have found most of my gold on shallow bedrock with ancient hard packed gravels
thats great ...Congrats Chris
Im 44 seconds in and I've learnt more about what to look for than 20 videos previos. Awesome... thank you. All logical stuffs me brain hadn't tied together.
Glad it was helpful!

This was an incredible amount of information in one video. I'm going to try my luck with my new knowledge! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
@Askjeffwilliams Jeff, I really appreciated this video. You clearly explained how to identify river bed target zones, where and how deep to dig, what to look for and what to avoid... Loved this one! Headed back to my Creek now! It's Video AU! ❤
thanks , we always love hearing that
Appreciate ya! Outstanding info!
Great tutorial Jeff, please keep them coming! Happy Holidays. ✌️🙂💯
thanks and you betcha
Yup, up to them years. Right behind the property is the Union and China mines in the " Calif Gold Discovery " area. I keep going back to my grandfathers hard rock mine ( the China mine ) cause I feel that all the quartz folds in that area, grandpaw might have dug maybe just a little right or left to hit the big 1.He worked it for some 20 years as a hobby and gave my mom all he found in a glass locket. 1 oz.
Thanks Jeff, you have so much experience. Love your videos
thanks
Brilliant video Sir. I Learned alot. Thank you for your time and knowledge.

Hi Shane. Thank you for your latest video about 100% Virginia Gold Paydirt.
I really love your videos. I'm barely getting into it because of my son but I always wanted to do this as a child so it's a win win.
thats great ....let us know if you have questions
Ask Lila, how she manages to not break out in giggles when you make so many funnies?? I admire her silent running behing the camera. Not sure i could keep quiet. Lol. I am enjoying your new teaching series you two are doing, especially the how to make inexpensive prospecting tools from cheap products. It is epic and i am gonna try a few. Got the poop tube, got carpet, and got the pvc pipe. And i KNOW im gonna get wet and cold up here in Maine. Keep the fun coming. We love you.
Oh, fyi, I'm Vickie and Ryan's Gold adventures. In disguise. Lol
Hi Vickie and Ryan ....my wife has a hard time not laughing and we have had to do many retakes ....gotta have fun
Great tips on how to work a creek. Ive been sluicing a lot of fly poop sized flour from below a terminal morraine.
thats great the outwash areas that are cut by creeks and stream are the best for concentration of the placer Gold
I love getting out in the mountains my garrett gravity trap pan along with my aluminum craddle its fun even if I dont find anything
Thank you !! Im excited to get out there this spring. I got my wife a prospecting tool kit for Christmas and she said thank you. And then she referred to my kit as her other one 😂 ❤
you betcha
Thankyou Jeff ....very generous information.👍
Glad it was helpful!
I’m a novice.
I’m learning a lot from you.
I must say though.
I’ve never heard someone’s voice match “Mitch hedberg” quite like yours!
It’s a win win!! 🤝🤝🤝✨💪
thats great and thanks
Oh heck yeah!! This is my favorite areas to pan, thanks buddy!
You bet!
My ranch in west Texas has glacial gravels , but good luck trying to recovering it ( gold that is ) , it has been pulverized down to micron gold.
excellent breakdown Jeff 👑
Thank you Jeff for all your videos!!!!
you betcha
Greetings! I'm a new subscriber, and I love your channel. Thank you for the great content!
welcome aboard
Pure value, always. 🎉
This guys enthusiasm makes me wanna go start panning..
This dude is the man!!
I like your information and I like your originality. Thank you
I appreciate that!
Hey Jeff,
You have such enthusiasm, it's contagious,,, ,maybe a little over the top, but your knowledge is awesome! come to Victoria Australia, where its' harder to find, and see what we deal with,,,every step could be ya last,,,,,,don't be scared, just cautious!! You'll have accommodation, might be ruff but that's how we do it.
thanks , we are planning on that
Your wisdom is golden. Cool video
thanks
The boil hole looks like a heart ❤️!! 12:50
Love the science you put into this one Jeff
It’s teaching hydrothermal deposition at its finest and in a lot of different scenarios
I’ve experienced these and many more and it’s what makes the detective game so fun
I like the area your in
Looks like a Cali creek with that basalt cap and mafic rocks
I’d love to get a in the field experience while you share the local geology
Especially here in NorCal
thanks, we do our best
You're the Man. I friggin live this channel. Thanks dude 👍
thanks
Another awesome video young man keep up the great work. And your video person does pretty good to. Good job mrs. Williams!
thanks
I'm looking in the Rivers in Maine and new Hampshire and Vermont and it's very important to follow your tips thank you and we look forward to seeing more videos of your adventures
we know for a fact Vermont has Gold in the creeks .....Yankee Jim Gold is up that way and he finds it all the time czcams.com/video/JlO--YUgEnc/video.html
using your phone with a gps app in it to get in ot out and mapping i, as far as the sampling you can record the location with a picture and the gps mapping system on most apps. if there inst a signal , i use a small magnet , wrap wire thru the magnet and place 2 connection points off the magnets . on the other side the loose wires , . the top part is your handle and the bottom part is the antenna? it really does work,
I love the gona get wet part, this is what gets my young grandsons so interested and hopefully hooked when summers in full swing and its too hot for metal detecting long. Nothing like finding gold together with family in a cool shade and creek. This and other videos by Jeff are amazing
exactly and you betcha
Love the way you present gold finding
Thanks 👍
Never seen this video before been watching Jeff's videos for a while that super sluice pan is the best pan I have ever used .some people may not have the back for it but i love it @63 it keeps me in shape thanks to Jeff's workouts 😂videos thanks man
Awesome! Thank you! yes it is .... you betcha my friend
Good info thanks
Very interesting Jeff. I love you're videos.👍
Awesome, thank you!
Good compilation!!! A quick and important group of edits that really gets into reading rivers/streams. Another great one is where Jeff has a river model and goes into even more detail. 3 or 4 years ago he did that one. For getting all that gravel from those cracks a cordless wet and dry would be cool. Makita makes some. Not cheap but really fast and convenient. I think small wet and dry vacs are awesome for crevicing. I want to add to the " Yea, you're gonna get wet"............."Yea, your backs gonna hurt"...LOL
thanks , thats what we wanted to illustrate ...just the meat of the matter.....
Brilliant! Thank you Mr. Jeff Williams, maybe I should hire you to check my areas. Greetings from Papua New Guinea!
thanks
I think I just found my favorite CZcams channel. Awesome video!
Welcome aboard!
Meanwhile, the evil Fireworm monster has attacked Wormtown, and now rules the entire drift abandoned by the ethereal Mr. Williams....

🤠Thanks Jeff, you rekindled my interest in GOLD Hunting💥 LETS GOOOOO!
Right on!
Haven’t watched yet but is this my grid vid I been asking for?!?! U the man Jeff!!. Thank you!!
you betcha
@@Askjeffwilliams thank you sir!! I rearranged my day today, gonna head to the river instead and try out what I been learnin. The only issue I have with where I’m at is there’s no bedrock. Im sore there is but your not gonna dig to it. What are the no bedrock guys looking for? Im in Michigan btw. And thanks again Jeff there’s not many people u can ask questions and get a whole vid in response. By far the best mining/prospecting channel out there.
I don't know if im interested enough in going out to pan for gold but if i could borrow his attitude for the day i think i might enjoy it a lot.. gotta find me some fly poop
I used to be that mica miner, lol. I find gold every time I go out now.
we found a Cartier gold bracelet on rhe beach in Sullivans island this same way last year .. we were researching sources of extremely wealthy communities concentrated along the beaches
I think jeff is in the desert area mabye by silverwood lake lol my neck of the woods in this one i lived there since 1986 and i am gonna say jeff is close to a nice spot ive worked using his steps i learned in this exact video i seen probally 8 yrs ago thanks for the info and if you come back to this area i can show you a couple places you might be very interested to check out
Awesome content!!!
Omg fly poop ! I love you! Humor is a precious gem!
First time watcher and commenter: Thanks for the video Jeff! They even find gold on the beach sand called black gold. I assume you heard of that. I don't think there are many other "gold" spots up here in Michigan, but I'd like to start going out for beginners. Have to start somewhere.
you betcha and thanks for the comments ..... they have Gold in the black sands on Lake Superior
My Frisbee doesn't work very well. I need one of those Devo Frisbeez!

Jeff thanx for sharing loads of knowledge to us viewers, in my opinion there's nobody with more knowledge sharing it ( for free) & explaining it easy enough so a caveman like myself can understand! it's helped me locate my 1st couple pieces of gold here in Oregon & yeah i got wet!.., i always look forward to the next video you have a great amount of information to pass on
thats great ...we always love hearing that ....really happy that you got that Shiney
enjoyed! like always jeff!
thanks
