I found GOLD in an ILLEGAL ground sluice!

  • I discovered by accident a VERY OLD illegal ground sluice someone build right into the river bed on my Dream Claim. I am not allowed to leave it in place but I am allowed to check out what it captured as I remove it and keep my claim in good standings with the claim inspectors. Check out what gold I found!
    BC Mining law says you can not modify the creak bed in ay way. I know my inspectors watch my videos and check my claims so to keep from getting untroubled for this ground sluice I will be removing it.

My wife just got me a gold panning kit so I can explore this beautiful landscape. I am heading to the cayoosh panning reserve today my very first pan! I want to thank you for inspiring me to get out and have some fun! Maybe one day I could join you on an expedition so I can learn from a grand Master prospector. The idea of claim jumpers sticks in my craw. I use cellular cameras on my property and I had one neighbor up the road who persistently liked to snoop despite being politely asked to not tresspass. Eventually what made him stop was me posting enlarged photos of him labeled tresspasser up and down the road. All of my neighbors except for him liked it and he has not been back!

He told us about a creek nearby (in Pennsylvania) where he would set up a box of some kind and put it in the creek. He said about once a year he would take the box out and then extract whatever he would get. He claimed he would get about an ounce of gold each year.
    I stumbled across a site that pans for gold in Pa. and it brought back memories of high school. I know the name of the creek, but I just did it for more of satisfying an interest.

    In my mining district in Oregon when we find gold with the white in them , it ended up being mercury! They were using sluce’s in the creek and would dump mercury in them to recover the gold out of them . My guess is quite possible that’s what was going on there !

    • @patdexter9188
      @patdexter9188 Před 2 lety +33

      Yes sir, I've seen that to! I've even found copper plates instead of carpet, in small sections usually lower in the sluice to try and catch smaller pieces. They would from time to time pull them scrape off the amalgamated mercury and add more to it because some alway washed off. They didn't know or care about the dangers of mercury just wanted that yellow suff! The Chinese used copper plates alot to, you could always tell where they mined because they stacked rocks perfectly to make walkways and walls. And found alot of gold after the miners moved on. They got jealous of the Chinese! Alot were murdered and robbed! Sad what happened back then.

    For boulders i use a portable hammer- drill and 1/2' mason bit to insert expansion bolts where i can use extra heavy duty comealong. On really large boulders i put an achor bolt in each side and use two comealongs to walk the boulder, including upstream as needed. Of course one has to anchor to a larger boulder or one that is buried. I've moved boulders 4' (1-1/3 meters) wide X 3' (1 meter) upstream by myself in just a short time. Heavy chains with link hooks makes for minimal comelaong rehook time.

    For one thing, to find any construction with that kind of ground cloth in it, this can't be more than 40 years old. The other thought is that if this is all you found in the sections you uncovered, you could have found this much in any old natural crevice running in any direction across the lay of the river. Chances are the high and heavy spring flow through this zone would have driven the good gold down lower to a bottom basin or gravity trap.

    really excited for part 2, been a while since i followed a youtuber this closely! you have a wealth of knowledge and kindness that you display so perfectly! i think most of the gold is gonna be locked up in those big blobs of rust. i suspect there was also a great deal of iron stone dropping out which would rust right next to the bigger nuggets. that silvery stuff could be mercury amalgam where the mercury content is really low, other than that ive only ever seen gold covered with limonte, or manganese oxide but im a desert dweller! you probably have seen more than me.
