Dale got Shane pretty good. That's why I liked him, he was genius at figuring out who's who and what really happened.
its always the old people in the show
Yep, dale wasn’t a bullshitter, he saw through anyones lies and deception.
Hes going at knowing what happened… and whats going on
He kept bringing up that he knew guys like him. Dale was a real one, old people have lots of experience. There are patterns to people and the world that you pick up on with age I think

Dale wasn’t scared. Thats how a man with a clear conscience stares at a guilty man
I mean granted the dude was most likely gonna die within a year anyways, doesnt have much to be scared about concering himself
It was affirmation. Shane proved him right, Dale wasnt happy, scared or sad, just proven right.
Dales face says it all "And there he is, the real Shane."
@@lessermook7608yep. once Shane realized Dale wasn’t terrified at the thought of losing his own life, but at the thought of the type of person he was looking at, Shane had to look away and leave
Or someone about to be bled at Terminus lol
Really ? You watched this scene and came away with Dale wasn’t scared ? I think he had balls as shane admitted even but when Shane looks up around 1:05 and says what he does , Dale definitely looked intimidated
Shane's face a 1:05
It's like he realized that Dale had him figured out and let the mask slip in front of another person for the first time.
He was telling Dale to stfu and leave him alone. Tf r u on about. But I guess thats ur opinion
Or maybe he got pissed that someone was being morally superior when he is way more capable than the old man, lol.
Yup. 100% a sociopath that lost his mind lmao
@eL PieDra capable yes but he has proven to be a coward by killing otis. If any adverse situation would have arise only, then his true nature would unfold . Dale is old and too much judgemental, but he is not wrong . Shane is just hooking up and is bent up on committing morally compromising tasks.
@@heisenberg73215I wouldn't call that cowardly he did it to survive and cause he clearly hated Otis for shooting Carl.
Shane was playing right into Dale's accusations, which is why Dale looked satisfied. Shane proved him right when he started making idle threats, and Dale knew exactly the kind of man that Shane was.
I know right, Shane may not have realized it but he literally proved Dale's point
He used it as a hypothetical because Dale didn’t think about if he was right about Shane, what Shane would do to him.
With how unhinged shane was not sure if they were idle threats
How can you tell he looked satisfied? He's all over the place in this scene. Bulgy eyes, mouth open so wide I thought he's Christen Stewart.
This actor had his great moments in the show, but this is one of his lesser ones.
@@bmsuperstar1 I think that's the point. Dale was an old experienced man, he could read people like a book, but he wasn't necessarily a strong, confident leader type, so his heart would have been racing that whole confrontation and adrenaline would have been going nuts. He's afraid, but willing to stand up, to somebody he knows would kill him in a heart beat.
A lot of people didn’t like Dale, but I did. He might have been nosy but he was smart and saw right though Shane which he should have some credit for
A lot of people didn't like dale??? i loved his character after hearing why he chose to kill off his character I liked him even more
Everyone loved Dale. You must be smoking
@@shy6083 why he killed his character
I loved him!
nah he was annoying
shane went completely insane after he shaved his head
Him shaving his head was sort of a statement. New world, new man. You’ll be especially new after killing a man (Otis) the way Shane did. Shane was most likely always this type though. Dale basically told Shane he’s perfect for this world as both him and it are gone from humanity or morality. It’s just about survival. Shane should’ve left when Dale said.
Everytime I get a haircut now, all I can think of is Shane's head rub. XD I keep doing it too.
Yeah, he went completely inshane.
The look comes with the territory. I've had people run to the other side of the street when they see me coming their way. I'm not even an asshole. It's just the look.

Dale was the moral compass of the group and brought so much emotion and depth to the group. No coincidence the show went downhill after his death
It went downhill after season 4 not 2 cmon prison seasons are great
@@bluegrip3007 Story was good but the character dynamics were meh. Going downhill from a 9 to a 7.5 show is still downhill

Dale should consider himself lucky he died early on (granted, he was dying slowly and painfully). Imagine if he was alive long enough to meet the Governor, and especially Negan? I can imagine Dale having a heart attack seeing Andrea die, or seeing Glenn's skull get bashed in.

Wish they didn’t kill of Dale, I liked his wisdom.
@@edittzz4175same with t dog
@@Getstr8cashnah t-dog was so irrelevant there’s a reason why he had probs 5 mins screen time all together
The only trouble with Shane's reasoning is that starting in on the group makes him a defector. It's tough that the balance is so fragile, but that's the premise behind leadership, you have to have no idle thoughts outside of what kind of sacrifice you would make for it, no matter the odds
Anything less becomes tyranny. Shane loved pointing out weak points, how people are soft. Under those circumstances, you begin to wonder whether you are next on the chopping block. A leader is supposed to compel you to muster up strength that you never realized you had. Life is already strenuous and the burden of self is difficult to carry into the day. Shane offloaded that burden when he checked for Rick's pulse
The man has no guiding principles, which is why at the first blush with insubordination, he drives all his malice into his blows. He let too much of Lori steer that the thought of losing her drove him mad
That's what Rick was contending with at the first scene between him and Shane. Only, his commitment as a husband and as a father- he is under obligation to seek resolve on behalf of them. You don't intervene on that front unless it is in the will of your bond. "If anything should happen to me look out for Lori, Carl might resist, but he will be his own man in time"
But Shane? "YOU'VE GOT A WEAK BOY'
Dale is really not giving shane the benefit of the doubt at the whole otis thing because he saw shane aimed his gun at rick. I think dale would not antagonize shane that much if he didnt saw shane do that.
1:01
When I ask bro what superpowers he wants and he says time freeze and invisibility
Dale was smart shane proved him right by using his accusations against him he let him go but knew he had a threat in the group I wish Dale was alive to see the governor
The way Shane nods his head at the very end like "I got you so damn good Dale didn't I?"
I disagree, Shane's the one backing down because he knows Dale has him figured and doesn't give a shit about his threats. Shane's posturing
ikr he got him there

@@jonah.donohue No one knows what you're saying
@@jamesduffy7549no, dale takes a huge breath of relief when shane leaves you can hear and see the fear and smell the piss he pissed in his pants at the end. dale is a coward and died as one
Dale was able to nail Shane on devolving into a cold blooded killer with an incredible amount of rage. What he didn't comprehend is WHY. WHY did Shane devolve into that?
Initially Shane was the one with the deepest conviction that the government would come through for them. The damage done to him by being betrayed by that government then being forced to murder someone to insure his own survival....was profound. If anyone saw the scene where he returned from killing Otis they have to remember the thousand yard stare in Shane's eyes. It was chilling. Deeply damaged and dangerous.
It was made worse by essentially being forced to deliver Otis eulogy. Of course he fucking lied about how Otis died. What was he supposed to do? And he didn't completely lie. He acknowledged Otis as a hero. Which he was.
Shane was at the point where it would have been impossible for him to live a normal life. His deep seated rage and homicidal tendencies would have made him dangerous to anyone who got close to him. He definitely should never have considered getting married and having children. Anything could have made him snap and kill his entire family.
His death was probably the most merciful way for him to die. His life would never have gotten better. At that point nothing could have reversed his course. He was simply too damaged.
I agree but he could have a family it's just after killing Otis he gets filled with guilt and rage more towards himself but inflicted it on others. And in the end Shane held Ricks hand in death probably meaning Shane still loved rick and most likely had regrets. I wish Shane could have realized that rick is also his family and not just see Lori and Carl as his. He could have stayed an uncle or something to Carl. His downfall was that he realized how lonely he truly was in this world and couldn't cope. I'd say hes not a bad man but definitely a Broken one considering he only saw life being worth living in the apocalypse if he had a family to protect. It's rly sad when u think of it
Like the Governor, Too far Gone
@@trizard3940 so did shane want rick to kill him because he felt he had no more purpose in the world?
@@spiderj4411 no I think that Shane realized last minute that he wasn't able to kill his brother and that's when Rick took advantage
@@trizard3940Well: is that not how humans got to where we are? Being Ricks, or at least our leaders being Ricks. You can't build a society without cunning and opportunism.

No reason to fear if you have the truth on your side. That being said 😅 the old man had no chance.
I know but he was pressing so damn hard, he's lucky Shane still had a little sense in him, if not he'd be done
Even though this was filmed years before, 1:18 to 1:32 always reminds me of Breaking Bad when Walt is talking to Hank after he works out who Heisenberg is and says something along the lines of "If that's who you think I am, then you'd better tread carefully"

Dale was a character I personally really related to. Still do, but to be honest, the way he got treated by the other characters and how he coped with difficult situations made me realize I need to be less like him. I think the fact that people have such a positive opinion about characters like Shane, and a lower opinion of characters like Dale steaks volumes about what people value... Do with that what you will.
Dale's the kind of karen that would throw I giant hissy fit for a dog crapping on his lawn or some kids baseball going over his fence...glad I'm not like Dale in real life👍
Dale had balls of steel. Badass
Show used to be so good man you just don’t see scenes like this in the later seasons
Shane was right: Killing Otis saved Carl
But Dale was right: Shane wanted Rick dead
Yeah but shane didn't he gave rick a chance to kill him
Shane never wanted Rick dead. He wanted him out of the picture, because he believed he was hurting the group. That's why he points the gun at Rick, but quickly understands it's the wrong way to do things and not worth it.
Even in the original script he was supposed to have an empty gun during their final confrontation.
Dale shat his pants
Who wouldnt?
Old man wears diapers man, when i old I wanna really quality diapers... My dream is to take a shit in public and make a stupid face...
Shane probably was like 👃 💩 🤦
Idc what anyone says, Dale was not weak. The fact he stood up to crazy fkn Shane more than once puts him towards the top of TWD Balls Meter
EXACTLY! People really tryna make dale look like the bad person here when Shane literally sa’d Lori, and was willing to kill Rick if he had the slim chance of doing so. Shane had to go, and dale knew it.
You think I’d shoot Rick?
That is my best friend - that’s a man that I love; I LOVE him like he’s my BROTHER.
You think that’s the kinda man I am?
Well maybe we outta think this through…
See - if I’m the kinda man that gun down his best friend…
Watcha think I’d do to some guy that I DONT EVEN LIKE. When he starts throwing accusations MY WAY. Watcha think?
Let's be real half the time dale antagonised Shane just like he did In this clip.
Because he knew he was up to something, he could feel it. You ever get that gut feeling about someone and it turned out right?
@H.Dayton. yeah but Dale made it hit for himself, knowledge is power and it it's better not to let the. Person you're suspicious of know that you're suspicious of them.
Well, he was right. About all of it. Shane became a psycho and did, indeed, try to kill Rick. Not for the betterment of the group, but because he was in the way of what Shane wanted which was Rick's family and his leadership.
Never ignore your instincts about something or someone who've you've got a bad feeling about. Most of the time, it turns out you're right to feel that way.
Dale was mad because he knew Shane smashed Andrea, that's all it was.
Lmao. Nah. Nobody cares about her. 💀

@@AnythingLounge if he was not a deep character and some boring villain throwaway character the first two seasons wouldn’t be as nearly enjoyable and well received as it was. Ask anyone who’s a true fan of the show what the best part of season 2 was. They’ll tell you
Damn why they don't like Shane, there nothing wrong with him Shane a good guy ❤❤
Shane was not a good man, but if he hadn't shoot Otis they both would have died, and Carl wouldn't have make it as consequence. I think he was not evil either; he shows sadness for Sophia whe she came up as zombie, he was clearly shocked with Dale's death, even not liking him. What destroyed him was his obssession with Lori and Carl, the will to take Rick's place. To let that feelings grow was his destruction.
"She looks like a kid but shes actually a 6000 year old vampire" 1:01
God I fucking loved Dale.
This show was amazing with Glenn Mazzara from The Shield as Showrunner !!
Shane could have been running his own city and army if he left here.
Shane trying to scare but Dale not gettig scared😂
“You think I’d shoot Rick” literally in the finale tried to shoot his best friend. 🗿
You see, It's this scene right here that makes it a good thing that Dale was killed by that walker. I mean it still sucks that they killed him off but the reason it's a good thing is because if that walker didn't kill Dale then Shane would've no doubt killed him eventually. Because you know this scene is proof that Shane's not above killing anyone in his way especially if it's one of his own people.
Dale be like O.O
Its funny that Shane is the most realistic person from the early days but he failed to get over with Lori after Rick came back. He couldve become better and survived longer if hes less emotional with lori.
Incredible acting right there from both,The Walking Dead golden days, damn I miss those first seasons.
Dale was a pretty cold character for such a sweet old man
Dale said in a later episode to Lori that he knew guys like Shane, which leads me to believe that Dale was perhaps a war veteran, and given his age 64, which he stated in a few episodes prior to the group finding Hershel's farm, leads me to believe he may have been a Vietnam Vet, given his age. I would've said Korea initially, but given you had to be at least 18 to sign up/ be drafted, not that people lied about their age even then to go to war, like they did the two previous wars before, WW1 and WW2, but Dale seems like he'd have been probably too young to have been in Korea, that's why I say Vietnam.
And the reason I say Vietnam is because, in war you get to see both the best and the worst in men come out. Doesn't mean he was in combat, or if he was that he killed men in the war, but regardless he certainly would've seen the men who did and how it changed them, or in some circumstances maybe just revealed who they truly were the whole time prior, and that's why he made that comment to Lori.
Just my theory.
@@thecowboy9698I thought that too. Or just old boys doin dirt

Him and lori...dude planned on leaving.....then lori goes no stay and in the same breath tell rick shane is dangerous 😂
I never watch The walking Dead but he claims that Rick is his best friend yet Rick kills him, so will help a brother out to understand
One of the best scenes in the entire series
This Shane and Dale (and later Hershel) back and forth is basically what’s going on in Rick’s head every second of every day since he woke up from that coma
I know Shane's time was short-lived, but he truly was a psychopath. The look he gives Dale is truly the look of someone Psychotic. Quite a sinister look. Shane became unhinged, unpredictable, cold-hearted, sadistic, and truly cunning. Before the outbreak, Shane was not like this. Something unleashed in him that caused him to go insane.
Shane still had empathy he was not psychopath, he wasn't a bad guy he was just ahead of the curve in the show
