- A quick video tutorial on how to start a 2016 - 2022 Volvo XC90 with a remote key fob that has a dead battery. If you Volvo XC 90 remote key fob has a dead battery, you may see VEHICLE KEY NOT FOUND on the dash when you attempt to start it. Place the dead key fob in the designation location in the cupholder, then you can start your XC90 as you normally would. You should replace dead remote key fob batteries as soon as possible.

What do you do when the fob is recognized, but the bottons do not work after replacing the fob battery.

@@littlechizsecake yes. The car's battery was dying You'd think there would be a warning sign for that). Hooked jumper cables up to another car and it started. Replaced the car battery and the problem went away.
@@mrnero4486that’s interesting. All electric features in my car work no problem that’s why i would never guess battery is the reason 😮 i may try to jump my car
@@littlechizsecake same with me; radio, A/C, lights were all working. Still battery was dying. Jumped the car and drove it to local AutoZone and they verified with their code reader that the battery was about done. I replaced the battery and no more key fob error. I'm not saying definitively that's the issue with yours; but if you can get a jump, try it and see.
