    Second exercise, “put it around the heel”. The demonstration looks like the band is around the ball of the foot. What is correct positioning of the band?

    I started longboarding longer distances and I find that my ankles are a bit wobbly and this affects my balance on the board. Would these exercises help strengthen my muscles and help me balance on one foot for longer period? Thanks!

    I have lower knee pain im guessing this could help because knee pain is generally either ankles or hips, and its lower so i know its my ankles.

    Thank you. I’ve tried a new workout.
    It’s a stand on your toes. Lift one leg in the air n extend limb out. While body is lifted off the ground. Leaving opposite foes supporting the whole body in the air!!!!

    Just hurt my ankle yesterday from running. Pain feels like an indicator for extensor tendonitis. Will this strenghtening exercise helps?

      If your ankle hurt a lot after the exercises, I encourage you to back off. Maybe start with the bare minimum. Obviously, I don't know your specific condition so it's hard to recommend specifics but in general, I normally encourage people to ease into the exercises gradually if they experience pain with the program.

    Is sitting cross-legged bad for the ankle on the bottom? I sit like that all the time without thinking and the ankle that is on the bottom is problematic

    Where do I get the band? What resistance(?) or weight (?) do I need. My ankles give out on me all the time. I think that would help if I did these exercises.

      Sure thing, @bonitagirlyy! If you don't have something to tie a resistance band to for dorsiflexion exercises, no worries! Try this alternative:
      Single Leg Balance
      >Stand in front of a sturdy surface, such as your countertop.
      >With your hands resting on the surface, shift your weight so that you’re standing on one leg.
      >Make sure to squeeze the glutes and stand as tall as you can.
      >When you feel ready, try to balance without holding on.
      >Use the sturdy surface to help you if you feel too unsteady to try this without your hands.
      >Practice standing on one leg for up to 30 seconds, then practice on the other side.
      >Repeat for 3 sets on each leg.

      I have a simple exercise, using no purchased equipment. Get a foam pillow or a couch cushion. You can also fold up a blanket or towel into a pad. But, the more springy or spongey pads like foam pillows or cushions will work better.
      Place your pad on the floor and stand on it. Now, raise one leg out in front of you. If you have any instability, your toes, feet, and ankle muscles should fire off like crazy as you try to maintain your balance while standing on an unstable surface on one foot. Try to stand for as long as you can on each foot. Don't forget to hold your arms out and move them around to different positions to adjust your balance.
      If standing one footed on the pad is too difficult for you, start out with your bare feet on the floor until this becomes easy for you and then move on to using a pad. You can also stand near a wall and occasionally touch it if necessary, but try not to hold on.
      I was very surprised by how much harder it was to stand with one foot on just a thin yoga mat, compared to standing on the bare floor. It's also a lot harder if you place your elevated leg behind you and grab onto the top of your foot like you're doing a standing quad stretch.
      I know this exercise sounds very easy, but if you have weak or unstable ankles, it can be pretty challenging. The first time I did it, I was hopping all over the house, trying not to put my foot down. 😂
      Warning: This is not a post injury or post surgery exercise! This is for healthy people with weak ankles and poor balance.
