All three actors (Imelda, Olivia, and Claire) were perfectly cast for Elizabeth. The entire cast over the span of her life was amazing.
The final episode was incredibly moving. Well done.
Truly amazing
Amazing acting!
It was a love letter to the late Queen. They deserve an award for that season. She was the best actress, and her storyline was captivating.
It was soooo good
The final season returned a more beloved version of the Queen to us. The relationship between the sisters especially so. The final episode was deeply moving and she gave her back her soul.
LMFAO
A sentimental ending does not forgive the horrible things she did to her poor sister.
I originally baulked at The Crown but was hooked after just one episode. It is brilliantly shot and acted. However, the most important lesson I learned was that the entire family are rotten to the core!
Imelda has tears in her eyes as she recounts her experience.
She did a fantastic job in the role - ALL the actresses did - loved that season, as well as all of the others.
I adore Imelda Swanson. She is a brilliant actress and I can’t imagine how difficult those days after Her Majesty passed were for her to continue. So interesting to hear her experience.
Staunton not Swanson and yes your right she is a brilliant actress

*You're not your
When I, ( a Canadian) heard the news that our Queen had died, I pulled over the car, and cried for a long time, on the side of the Upper Island Highway.
She was a constant, my whole life, and our Late Mother, whom had just passed away, was named after the Queen. I was so happy that our late Mother never lived in a world without her Queen, born weeks before our Mother.
😂
Fellow Canadian. I didn’t cry but I did feel a sense of loss. I think because she was such a constant growing up. She’s on our money, she used to be in our classrooms. You kind of got the impression she would be around forever and when she wasn’t, it was a bit of a shock.
My online friend is Canadian who was adopted but her “parents” died young and she never had a family. She found the Queen to be a common bond with others and still follows the Royal Family avidly.
I have always felt the closest people to us (in England) are in fact the people of Canada. I have been there several times, and what surprises me is that they are incredibly unalike their neighbours to the south. The Canadians are, as I say, very close to Britian in many ways, and things British, and your reaction to the loss of her Majesty is a mirror image of what occurred here....thank you.
Imelda Staunton is one of my favorite actors, especially on The Crown. She did an amazing job of portraying the Queen.
You can still see the residual upset & emotional journey we all took in those 10 Days in 2022; I was in the Queue on Thursday night Friday morning and the tears came flooding out after I walk away from Westminster Hall - there wasn't a dry eye in the place as you took your turn to bow your head before the Crown, sceptre, orb and coffin.
I can only imagine how challenging that must have been for everyone on set. It felt like the world was in limbo for months. Thank you so much, Imelda, for persevering, and giving us such a wonderful tribute to remember what an extraordinary and complex woman she was..
Seeing her explaining this… and suddenly everything she did to Harry (Potter, not the showbiz prince) and Hogwarts is forgiven…
Omg I was thinking the same thing..I’ve avoided season 5 and 6 cuz I couldn’t not see her as Umbridge…but this made me see her in a different light and I’m gonna watch them very soon
She’s an actor.
@@JacquelineMeHofferbergah true.
But sometimes I find it difficult to look past a character and see the actor.
Same goes for Al Pacino.
That’s The Godfather.
And James Earl Jones is just Darth Vader
😃😬
Oh melodrama! I cannot understand how she was ever cast, she looked (even in makeup and costume) absolutely nothing like the Queen.
Also, whilst I'm an admirer of Lesley Manville in comedic roles, she was dreadful as Margaret. It's not difficult, with the wealth of acting talent we have, to cast people who can imaginatively represent real characters.
Bah humbug !!!
One of the best TV shows of recent memory. So well done. Amazing actors throughout. Imelda is an absolutely impeccable actress, full of class and dignity.
Just finished watching the final season of The Crown. Very emotional 🥲 very tastefully done. Loved the ending. ❤
Hello 👋Beautiful Lady 🌹..How are you and the weather condition like ??
I was 70 when Elizabeth II died and she had been the Queen my whole life. It was the first time I had cried in years and felt like I had lost my mom a second time.
Everything you said is true for me as well.
I felt the same I was born in 1953..Queen Elizabeth was my whole life..I grieved for our dear Queens passing, my mum and grandma's ❤❤❤
I feel sorry for Imelda, she is such a terrific actress and the fact that some people have type-casted her as Umbridge from Harry Potter not even willing to give her the chance to prove her worth in other forms of work and to play a role such as the modern queen whilst the real queen was pronounced dead. I tip my hat to Imelda and her incredible talents I really do
She was also great in the Downton Abbey movies. Oh, and have you seen her in the West end? She's such a star!!!
She was well known for far more than Harry Potter.
Imelda Staunton is an incredible actress. I saw her perform as Martha in " Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf" opposite Conleth Hill. She held the stage for over two hours with the most brutal dialogue.
I had taken a young friend based on her Harry Potter work, she was so brilliant onstage we decided that to allude to that at the stage door would be an insult!
Seriously,if you can get to see her on stage, Do.
I wasn't smitten with her Queen Elizabeth initially, however the final scene had me in bits, beautifully done.
The last scene was kinda piece of art.
I will always remember and miss Queen Elizabeth II
What a lovely lady. That was genuine grief about a difficult memory.
That final episode was gorgeous and I can only imagine how much it affected everyone in the cast. Brilliant job by Ms Staunton. She did such an incredible job.
Great actress she did an amazing Job and showed the heart of the Queen Thank you
Just explaining to the audience was hard for her. Haven't finished watching the final episodes yet, but it's very real. I forget its not actually Lilibet. You carried her dignity so well in your performance Imelda. Merry Christmas to all ♡
Hello 👋Beautiful Lady 🌹.How are you and the weather condition like ?
The Crown is a triumph. One of the truly great tv series of all time.
This is a true example of the British resolve to "carry on". Imelda mentioned that she had spent so much time with the Queen, a necessary part of playing a living person - so she got to know the Queen as many of us could not, and I'm sure she fell in love with Elizabeth's personality, including her wit.
Seeing actors as themselves completely blows my mind! How she plays the charge in Harry Potter, I couldn’t stand her! She did amazing in the crown. But seeing her here it tells you how good of an actress she really is. 👏
I'm american i saw her as a grandmother and i couldn't stop crying .
LMAOOOOOOOOOOO
@@lenaluthor1471that's incredibly rude
@@hexslayer363not exactly rude. The Queen made a few statements that indicated she disliked Americans. Which is an understandable sensibility, all history considered.
@@risingphoenix8072Our Queen had impeccable taste…and on that subject I wholeheartedly agreed …Americans and Britain should not mix.. 🤔🇬🇧
@@Ionabrodie69 impeccable taste is what you are taught about all of them. Your government certainly does like the benefits they receive from the American taxpayers, and the current Prince of Wales has visited the USA more frequently than any other country (especially after his brother moved there).
That is where one starts to prevent “mixing”
QEll was the only Queen I ever knew in my lifetime...My last & most impacting recollection of HM were what ended up being the final photos of the Queen "on the job"--the ones that people commented on the bruises on her right wrist...shortly afterward, HM decided to go to Scotland...😢 DUTY was her mantra...she always said she would fulfill her duty to the very end...Country & her People 1st....RIP...😢
The piper playing at the end of the funeral must have really broken her up. It was a very moving part of The Crown finale.
She is so talented!
Imelda was just wonderful
she did amazing!
Love Imelda so admire her awesome actress 😍❤
Amazing actress ❤️❤️
I wish The Crown would continue but I guess it's need to end. What a great tv show!
Love Imelda...
Whenever I see Imelda, I feel a sense of rage, hatred and disgust. 'coz I see her as Professor Umbridge, and I despise her with my every being.
So I know for a fact Imelda is a great actor. And she plays her roles well.
Ms Umbridge has left the wizarding world
Am from Hong Kong, and I cried so much watching the Queen's funeral.
Yeah I cried when my kidnapped died too. Stokholm Syndrome is a hell of a drug!
@@JohnBaigerIf it weren’t for Britain Hong Kong wouldn’t exist.
I adore Imelda Staunton. I would love to have lunch with her and discuss her wonderful family and all the sheer talent and warmth they bring to the table. (Her handsome husband played Mr. Carson on Downton Abbey, and their daughter plays on Bridgerton.) Sense and Sensibility (1995) has always been a fave of mine, with Imelda playing the silly chatterbox, Charlotte, wife of a longsuffering Hugh Laurie (Dr. House.) 😂
Imelda is an amazing actress...and she is so funny too.
Imelda Staunton is such a wonderful actress. I just loved her performance in The Crown, but it was so hard to believe this was the same silly, fluttery, airhead that she played as Hugh Laurie's wife in Sense and Sensibility. Remarkable.
🌟 playing her Badly😮
such an amazing actress
I cannot imagine her emotions learning.
❤
Just finished watching S6 and think Imelda got the late Queen to a tee including her sense of humour (Charles and Camilla wedding speech). Much better than Coleman which was dowdy (but I think that was down to the script more than the actress). The actors that played Diana and the older William were also good. Still think the series should of had "Loosely based on true events" as a precursor to each episode.
I wonder where they filmed St George's Chapel or was that created in a studio set?
We all know it is loosely based as we all know that no one could possibly know of any true conversations or behind closed doors happenings unless we were told directly of them. Also the internet is your friend in fact checking.
I've never seen her out of character. There's something I really like about her.
From across the pond, I too felt like I had lost a beloved family member.
Grief shared is proessed. Regards ti imelda and all who mourned corporately
Would love to know what scene she filmed the day after the funeral
Jamie Dornan is trying to not punch the air 😂
Imelda Staunton did a wonderful job of portraying the Queen. I believe her passing caused such grief because, like her father before her, she executed her duties with a sense of dignity, honor, and occassionally humor. I can't say that her son, the current King, is up to her standards.
Imagine when you come into set full costume and have to do a recheck about real life events.
Good Evening, ERNIE.....Out on the Liffey ringing any bells, Sweetie.......August 2002...You are Delightful.....I personally SOBBED for ten minutes when I'd discovered that HM had passed.....I'm afraid I had to take a short leave from my work that day and let it all out before calling my Stuart Cousin, Dougie C. in Canton...he just said: Yes, yes...I said: She was the ONLY Monarch that we've ever known.
It would have been very hard continuing as Imelda did such a good job, it was a constant reminder that the real Queen had gone.
It must have felt like a bizarre surreal thing to play an actual person to then learn of their death and to resume playing them days later
I only have respect and admiration for Imelda Staunton that played QE 11… that role must have been very hard to do ❤
She will always be Umbridge to me
I was very sad to hear of Queen Elizabeth’s passing.
I was pretty inconsolable myself when she died!
You may have found it shocking to watch Umbridge playing a doting, regal grandmother. But all you had to do was to watch the BBC David Copperfield where she played also a doting granny figure to Harry Potter, and then you realise…
She’s a chameleon.
I love how imelda Staunton can equally play a serene ruler as well as an erratic fascist.
Love Graham at the end, having blatantly never watched.
wtf?
Very upset we didn't chat about her amazing Harry Potter role.
i dont think they really have to bring up that small role for her up in every interview she has been doing since the release of the harry potter films.
the really should haha@@mrxxbrian
@@mrxxbrianit was not exactly a small role though...
And they bring up Harry Potter with almost every actor who was in it.
its's been over 16 years since she participated in that role and she has done more wonderful things
It was a small role for her, the actress. You're thinking of the character.@@Denis-89
😔😭
She's such a great actress that I actually hate her for her role in Harry Potter. I still hate Diane Lane, same reason.
Strange feeling it would have been to play the past and present of real figure who was still alive and then have the script adjusted to accommodate the passing of the that person. Imelda has always been class and a first class actress.
What does she mean by "The shape walked on." - who or what is The Shape?
The shape of The Queen. She is saying her own portrayal of the Queen made everyone around her upset, because it was the day after The Queen's funeral.
I loved your character very much...well done!
She sounds incredibly nervous
Funny how really nice people played very bad people in Harry Potter. The cast loved Imelda and they all agreed that Tom Felton was the nicest guy on Earth. Imelda went from the Queen of Mean in Harry Potter to the Real Queen in the Crown.
hotly anticipated? another nail in the coffin.
She could pass for Judi Dench's younger sister. Staunton is a bit more expressive. A bit more body language.
Omg umbrage
Why did she know her
I love how her and Pryce copied Claire and Matt's mannerisms. After that horrid casting and writing of 3-4, the last seasons finally feel like a continuation of the first two
Agree, though Aberfan remains my favorite episode.
@risingphoenix8072 that was one of my faves as well. HM knew the parents' grief as she though about her own children and what she would have felt if that had happened to their school
it sucks that young people don't respect the sovereign.
No wonder the country's fucked
Stopped watching The Crown after the 2nd season.
Absolutely pathetic
Jamie Dornan pretending it wasn't hilarious that the Queen had died..
Why would that be? He is from a Northern Irish protestant background.
Imelda has Alzheimer's. So does judy, maggie and vanessa. We dont talk about it.
Really? You were (very well) paid. Was the Crown really necessary to your very successful career? Honestly?
Ok, she may have played the role well and netflix knows how to play on peoples heartstrings, but who cares? As I've said many times, it was too little too late. Where was the respect for the family when the Queen was alive? I have no respect for anyone involved in the crown, especially as it veered further and further from the truth in search of ratings znd ignored the Queens wishes. The fact that she feels the need to explain anything suggests I'm not the only one. I seriously doubt anyone made her play the part. It was her choice. Hopefully she'll think twice next time. Not impressed at the moment.
I thought she SUCKED playing Elizabeth II. It was Delores Umbridge playing the Queen. Bad choice as was the actors playing Phillip and The Queen Mum.
She was a terrible choice to play the Queen.
Most of the Crown cast were poor representations of the real people, but she’d had to be the worst with her beady little eyes and upturned nose😂
I did not like her version of the Queen. Season 5 and 6 of the Crown sucks balls.
