    • Sponge cake
    • 1 2/3 cups Water
    • 1/4 cup Butter, unsalted
    • 1/2 cup Sugar
    • 2 Eggs, large
    • 1 1/2 cups Evaporated milk
    • 1 tbsp. Vanilla extract
    • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
    • 1/4 cup Water
    • Cinnamon, to taste
    Directions
    Thinly slice the sponge cake and set the slices on a serving dish for later.
    Make custard by combining water, butter, sugar, and evaporated milk in a medium pot over medium-high heat. Constantly stir to avoid burning.
    Whisk vanilla extract and eggs together in a small bowl. Once combined, slowly pour the egg mixture into the custard while continuously stirring.
    Next, combine water and cornstarch in a small bowl before slowly adding it to the custard mixture to avoid clumping. The mixture should begin to thicken.
    Spread the custard evenly over the cake slices and sprinkle with cinnamon to taste.
    Chill for at least 2 hours.
    Serve and enjoy!
