Darkmoor Manor is England's most haunted house, its doors closed to the public. It is now just part of a tour which helps attracts visitors to a struggling town. That is until the tour guide (Tom Gordon), trying to impress two attractive American visitors (Jessica Cameron and Heather Dorff) promises to get them inside. But none of them could be prepared for what was waiting within the shadows of the house.

if you're touring Europe and you meet a guy who jokes about them having the same fate as in the movie Hostel, I'd be way more careful
Moral of the story: never go to a haunted house just to get up with the tour guide
Wow... I was actually surprised by EVERYTHING. The fact that they mentioned Hostel was hilarious (because of the similarities between the two), so I expected Tom and Das Bartender to just give them a good scare... oh, and the ending? Mwah! Perfection!
Inanna Felton thank you sooo much!! Das Bartender is called that because my brother (who is das bartender) kept referring to it as that when we were filming. So that's who he became. He's the one that lets my character know to go there!

📍I knew something was up with that Tom guy when they left the bar, and slow down for a moment and showed the bartender glance at him and Tom glanced back. The bar tender ended up being the other killer.. also the way he was talking he was dropping a lot of hints. Esp when he was talking about how they could possibly fall victim for “sex trafficking, & don’t trust anybody, women get killed traveling by themselves, tonight will be to die for, “ etc.. glad they both got what they deserved but still was sad when the blonde didn’t make it away. Good movie👏👏👏
When Tom mentioned "Hostel", I thought the two girls were going to turn the tables on him. Alas, not - everyone was tricked. Loved it!

After running out of every possible horror movie to watch on the net(I have no life) I have turned to these CZcams "short movies" as a sub. I'm quite pleased. There are some VERY talented people out there that Hollywood could learn a thing or two from.

I would love that! I think only three horror films have been up for best picture - The Exorcist, Silence of the Lambs and Get Out. The academy definitely does not see horror as "worthy". But so glad you enjoyed it and thank you so much for watching and the lovely comment.

These are some of the movies I visit again and again to watch. Screamfest is a daily dose. I am kind of addicted to this channel. After watching a new upload I sometimes watch old uploads again but it still gives a fresh thrill.

Situational awareness is a VIRTUE! When it is too good to be true... Good film! See, the house always wins. Cassie and Morgan really seemed like two American tourists who could afford to be abroad for at least three months. Having trouble getting laid in Europe, however...well, maybe? Tom was believable, too. Cheers to all who made this piece!

At 6:26 he exchanged a look with Geoff the barman, and I thought "ok it's a classic hoax, to scare the girls" etc...
At 11:10 Cassie gets murdered and I thought "WTF, they really murder people?"
Reading the "news" articles, I wondered that Tom would be prime suspect to the police ...
And at 13:48 they get killed by the REAL ghost of the house

Haha, that car numberplate referencing Romero. Nice touch! I really enjoyed this, although I can't for the life of me work out why they'd go at night, I've seen too many horror movies for that!
stratojim473 that was probably our most subtle reference! Hats off to our FX person Guy Pearson for adding it in for us - asking for something that has no relevance to the story which takes time could have been met with many a grumble but he loved it! He's helped me add a few things like this in across all my films. And they went at night as it's used during the day as the tourist attraction. So they could only get in at night. We tried to have some reason. Hope that one was a half decent one lol

Excellent. So relieved to have a good old haunted house again - with NO mobile phones, introoders (sic!) or demonic creeps stalking sexy kids. This could be a tale straight from a Cynthia Asquith or Robert Ai kman collection. At first I was disappointed towards the end, thinking it was only a murder tale - but then came the twist. My chief crit - the 'twist' could somehow be expanded. It was very short, even if sweet.
Paul Ziolo our influence was films like The Haunting. So wanted to avoid modern cliches. Or if we did put then in it was a knowing wink to the audience. Such as the found footage gag at the beginning then giving them a camera later on :)

A smart English boy, such as himself ,would drop that brunette like a hot brick for behaving so disrespectfully towards him... while yet giving signals she's attracted....that is the tip-off that things are gonna get nasty...Film did not need more after the news clippings as he could have absented himself to avoid suspicion and returned when forgotten.

No , the ghost is appearing all the way through the film. In the window behind the girls in the pic he took of them , and reflected again at around 7:32 min mark.

Never trust someone that is clearly foreshadowing. Run is indeed the right option. But sadly horror is built on people making the wrong choice. The right choice makes for a much shorter story.

Juanita Acevedo some people love to be scared by haunted houses. That’s our excuse and we’re sticking with it 😉
Some people like to get a sneak peek of ghosts or paranormal stuff and risk their lives for it. Cuz they are that desperate to find proof that the ghosts are real and hence want a ghostly experience to keep in their memory lane.
The acting, lighting and suspense was perfect and I very much enjoyed the plot twist! Bravo!

You were doing SO WELL until that final minute. Oh no...not another big mouthed ghost.... Like, it isn't scary anymore. It's a startle effect like a jump scare. Big mouths naturally make the fight-or-flight instinct kick in because it's a remnant from our earliest days. Big mouths mean you're about to be eaten. Your body says run, you interpret that as fear, but it isn't, it's a startle. Literally all they had to do was not have her open her mouth and the creepy factor would have carried it, but they had to buy into modern jump scare tactics.
nemesismkiii I get where you’re coming from with this. We were trying to add a little life into the face. But yeah can understand it fits into a much used piece of imagery! But glad you were enjoying it up until then.

Just think how much creepier it would have been, if you had only shown the spirit's eyes, hovering in the darkness. As it is, you did a bang up job. This was very well shot, acted, and had a great ending!

@@oldschool8432 That was me!! The best thing with when we shot that was all they knew was they would see me then they had to run away. We hadnt told them I'd then run at them full steam! So when they ran off screaming that was genuine (the house we shot in is actually rumoured to be haunted to at 2am they were already nervy lol). Had to cut the shot before you see me run into the wall (it protruded out slightly near the doorway). That hurt lol.

wow what are the odds of that i recently went on a ghost tour in Vancouver Canada i'd say about less than 2 weeks ago and two women i met while we were on the tour were from Chicago as well, that's so strange, very trippy. that gave me chills.

Another Great Short Film! I really don't know how much I can take of watching these short films, but you know something, I'm going to try my darnest to do so, it will be, because I honest to goodness do luv these short films, really I do. Just wish they were longer but its okay, short, long or whatever the short film in watching IS SO DAMN GOOD WITH INTENSITY!!
