Simon and Maggie are on their first date together. Simon finds Maggie charming, attractive and intelligent, but with one flaw - she’s a pathological liar. Simon agrees to go home with her and from there things go downhill. With Maggie’s lies growing more elaborate, featuring stories of orphaned childhoods, a murdered boyfriend, and a body in the basement, Simon is finding the lines between reality and fiction beginning to blur. As Simon fears his life might be in danger, his plans of getting the girl are soon replaced with plans of just getting out. But Maggie has other ideas. Whether or not this is the perfect date or a disaster waiting to happen, sparks are sure to fly.

If she lied about being a pathological liar then she isn't pathological liar. But she lied about being one. So she is. But she is, she didn't lie about it, she told the truth.
This is what we call a paradox.
There was a very old paradox, which, in essence, is a simpler version of this. Here's how it goes -
      'This statement is false.'
Well, is it true or false? Let's analyze both. If it's true, then it's false. But it's not false, it's true. So, it must be false, then the statement is true. But it's not true, it's false.

I wasn't sure how I felt about it, at least right when it ended. But after letting it sink in for a few while I scrolled the comments, I realized it was actually pretty good. It was suspensful, I feared for the dude's life the whole time, I kept yelling at him to check his hard on, get the hell out of there, and to stop allowing her to reign him back in!! And that's a lot of emotional stimulation and investment into the film, which is exactly what a good film does!

Hard to pinpoint a genre with the short run time, I think a full length version could easily be psychological horror, horror is very subjective just like comedy, some people will perceive things cerebrally that others will look at it in a different angle, I would call this horror.... I think with this short a run time we’re splitting hairs here between thriller and horror, IMHO, this is way beyond thriller though, way scarier than a masked person running at you with a knife, rather than a first date who may or may not be lying about anything and everything, that gets inside your head

I thought it was pretty atmospheric and I thought the actress was rather good. I liked the way she had a slight irregular speech pattern and let her eyes wander a bit while talking. It suggested someone not quite all there or having some psychological problem. She also exuded a confident sexuality that made it understandable why he'd find her attractive. It was certainly watchable.

  • @user-yq4sc1xe3u
    @user-yq4sc1xe3u Před 2 lety +1

    Let's count da mistakes:-
    1. You don't go to a person's house on 1st date
    2. Getting your hands tied on a first date is a serious red flag especially if you're inside their house
    3. If you were trying to reach for your phone when your hands were tied and you couldn't then why didn't you call the police instantly once you got yo hands free instead of leaving your room
    4. If she said that there are security cameras everywhere except bedroom and you ran exactly there to save your self, that's the worst you could have done. Being in front of cameras at least if she kills you they will have proof.
5.why didn't you closed yo self in a room and wait till the police reaches instead of going in front of her
    6. As soon you're free just leave like tf you waiting for bruh
But apart from that one of the best films I've ever seen that without any violence gave me even more chills and goosebumps all over. Great job

Maggie is not a pathological liar. She simply wanted to get the boy's attention and make herself interesting. All those games in the house were just improvised. Neither is consistent with the following. She's just a manipulative girl. Perhaps a lonely person who needs caring and someone's attention. I have a friend similar to her, but not as pretty as this one.
The story is more interesting than it sounds. She said that her mother died, and note that it is the only truth of the part of the book that Simon is reading. She is a lonely girl, with money, good looks, but with emotional deficiencies.
Maggie has a sweet voice and a calm character. Even saying she is a pathological liar, she is very convincing. Probably the appointment with the psychologist is to help her in those traumas since she was a child.

The girl actor was insanely good. When you're on psych medications your speech and hand movements can be affected & it can be jerky & the actor portrayed it so well. Give the girl a break. I feel sorry for the girl, she's reaching out to him (even though it's just their first date) by telling him the truth that's she's a pathological liar & sharing her yellow journal. She's always been a lonely soul since childhood, always telling lies to make her life look more exciting than it is and to bring attention to herself, until it becomes pathological. Many mental health issues arise from past experiences/feelings that was not dealt with properly or from a dysfunctional family causing loneliness, fear & abandonment. Enjoyed this short but yeah the whole time was like "what's wrong with this dude, get the f* out!!"
