- The Siege Elephant is a mounted siege unit in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Dynasties of India that is exclusive to the South Asian civilizations and takes the place of the Battering Ram line. As such, they are regional units. They are also an elephant unit. They are the Imperial Age upgrade to the Armored Elephant.
Despite being trained at the Siege Workshop, they are also classified as cavalry units alongside as siege. As such, they benefit from Blacksmith upgrades, can be healed by Monks (instead of repaired), and can be converted by Monks without researching Redemption. In this way, they are very similar to Ballista Elephants. However, Monks can convert them only at melee range like rams.
Cost: 120 Food, 95 Gold
Hindustanis: Generic Siege Elephant. Fully upgraded. No bonus.

In the total resources series, we consider 100 Food = 100 Wood = 100 Gold. In the equal resources series, we consider 100 Food = 100 Wood = 17 Gold.

Berserker are so powerful they transform whole herd of siege elephants into puny longswords.

To this day, I’m still scratching my head about how an almost naked elephant can defeat one with armor.

Armored elephant just push everything (buildings receive more damage, units are just pushed away). War elephants are furious and brave and attack everything.
African 'phant is bigger than Indian 'phant... Bigger tusks and ears too. The armor is made of pepsi cans.

MikeEmpires makes so many editing mistakes in these videos that he should just hire an editor. Clearly he's overworked.
Missionaries riding up to elephants to convert them in melee range is one of the weirdest interactions I've seen in AoE2 but makes sense gameplay wise since.... those are Siege elephants.

I think the elephants losing to melee units is justified. They supposed to be seige weapons replacing the rams, who have negative melee armor. They can still tank peirce attacks to a degree, but using a ram replacement against a unit is definitely not gonna work. We have battle elephants as well as a war elephant for that (okay maybe elephant archer but they are not viable if you ask me)

How tf do Slingers, an anti infantry beat them but Genoese Crossbow lose? They are anti cavalry!!
Siege elephants are not cavalry...they may have different armor class but I'm not sure
Since Siege Elephants have both Cavalry (+10) and War Elephant (+20) armor classes, they negate Genoese's bonus damage.
I wonder if a villager can kill a siege elephant.
