- Chewbacca isn't just Adam's favorite Star Wars alien, but it's also one of his favorite costumes to wear at conventions and for Halloween. After over 10 years of wearing this Chewbacca costume, Adam begins the process of updating and rebuilding its parts, starting with Chewie's feet. It's a process to foam sculpting that brings out Adam's hot wire cutter, his favorite high-strength tape, and a lot of hot glue. And after the feet are fabricated, it's time to give Chewie a weathering pedicure!

Hot wire cutter tip: when slicing multiple layers under a template, keep it all together with 3M clear packing tape. The wire goes through it like a knife through yogurt.
I'm always cutting my yogurt so I know what you mean.
Since those latex toes are were still in good shape you should have taken a mold of it while you had them off that way you can make new ones when these eventually fail.
I like watching these longer videos. It's easy to watch a 10-20 minute cut of a project and forget all the time and effort went into it.

Yes, the idea is to not get an injury that was easily preventable. If you do all you can to be safe and still get hurt it then it’s just bad luck.

I’ve never worn snowboarding boots, but they look like a mix of high ankle hard inline skates and medical boots. Which... ow.

Ive been unable to buy more than one costume for halloween, so ive been making and remaking the same costume for the past 5 years, this is a channel that I deeply identify with just because of episodes like this.

That dust is carcinogenic, so he probably should have kept the mask on - which is also a pretty solid recommendation if you have to sweep up Thanos, as well.

I predict a one day build will be to build a bench mounted "holster" for that heat gun and/or a drill gun.
I see that too. I've been thinking that a hand-shaped one would be useful since every tool in the shop is a handheld one so a hand shape is the right form factor for it. The only issue is how to build it (maybe with wood and armature wire?)
"This wookie suit that I wear from time to time" sounded so casual that it made me think of Adam just like, hanging out in his house dressed like a wookie and it's a hilarious thought.
I just imagine his wife walking out and there he is in his wookie having a beer and her just thinking "Okay, so this is what we're doing today."

"So many possibilities, so little time". Dude, you said it. That sums up the way I feel with every new tool in my workspace. I've used a Proxxon hot wire cutter for a few years now for scale modeling and dioramas and nothing beats it. Get a foot switch so you can control the off/on with your foot and it's amazing.
Almost feeling an urge to sing the old Nancy Sinatra hit: "These boots are made for wookie'in, and that's just what they'll do"...

Thanks for the full dress up. I was prepared to see the video end without it, but I have to admit that I wanted to see the full effect. It was a lot of work, and I think it's good that you showed the process so we can appreciate the extra effort you put in for that final payoff.
What I love about watching Adam is the little tricks that I never think of that are just an unconscious movement for him. Tells you just how well tuned he is to his setup and the decades of experience
Using Gorilla tape (at the risk of sounding insensitive or speciest) seems quite fitting for a Wookie build.
As a goth, I'm so proud of you for making your own home-made platforms.

@@JonatasMonte yeah, I’m able to remember each time I have “done” my knee trying to protect my ankle. (I’m what my mum called clumsy) but I think I should start thinking like Adam and thinking about how to protect the meat machine.

This is how I’ve been making my Wookiee feet for the past 10 years. I met Adam once at Celebration in Chewie, I had no idea it was him till later when a couple of Legion friends pointed him out to me. The Wookiee aka Adam was being rushed off and I was being a costume nerd trying to compliment and ask build questions. Missed opportunity to talk shop. Though whenever I am Chewie at Dragon Con or Celebration, I get asked if I’m Adam.
You should know over time the foam will compact so you have to replace it.
Thanks for making this, it’s very helpful for future Wookiee builders and cosplayers.

@@Gerald5000 I know that's what you meant, but that's mean and I disagree so I put a positive spin on it. I think I like these videos almost more than the ones shot with Tested's professional equipment. They show a more personable side to Adam than we used to see. Maybe he could do with a better microphone but that'd be even more hassle anytime he wants to move the camera around so this is just great as is!

All the while maintaining the parameters of reality. You cant decide to have eggs for breakfast if you have no eggs, but there is always a choice. Make the choice that brings the most happiness in that moment.
Stick to it and life will begin to change for the better.
Avoid swimming up stream. If life is a struggle then you're on the wrong path.

A tip for anyone using this xps style pink foam, you can use cocktail sticks to help bond pieces. Useful if you have those and only pva glue :)
