Just some of the things I love about these videos:
7:04 I love that he leaves in the parts where he's just standing there and thinking, without actually "doing" anything. Sometimes I feel crazy when I have to just stare into space and think a project through, but that's where your brain is really turning gears and working the most.
9:56 similarly, he starts to pose a question, but actually answers it for himself while saying it out loud. It's cool to see how the brain works, and for some people just working through a problem out loud will solve it for them automatically.
34:14 how insanely psyched he is for this build 😆 nothing feels as good as finishing a really awesome project. I love this so much
I was just about to comment on that moment at 7:04. Really validated me too, lol. Anytime I'm doing any project, probably about 1/3 of the time Is spent in exactly that pose
"just working through a problem out loud will solve it for them automatically" implying he wouldn't have figured it out as fast if he didn't do it out loud. sure some people take help in that, but some people just like to express themselves. especially if they are getting filmed and are supposed to entertain and not bore the viewers.

I love how this video barely has music and its like, just raw clips. It really shows how focused he is, the thinking and stuff, generally showing the process in such a way that I think is different from a lot of the modern "building" videos.
Even though this isn't MythBusters related, seeing Adam think and work through the build really takes me back. I can just imagine Robert Lee doing some commentary as Adam works. 😀

I have just watched this with my two 5 yr old twin boys who have recently discovered the concept of a nerf gun but more importantly are obsessed with creating things. Anything. Adam you just kept the focus of 2 5 yr olds for the entire episode. They are now obsessed and the idea that they can go from the Lego at home to creating film props and all of the wonderful things you show on your channel has truly inspired them. Well done.

I love how much fun he has with these. He truly loves making things and it’s fun to watch
i think the reason the mag ended up holding 1000 over the 500 or so he thought it would hold was because when he ran the quick math in his head for the 500, he was thinking of it being single loaded, but then later said he wanted it to be double loaded. he didn’t backtrack and correct his math, so when he then increased the size, he doubled the capacity.
Nah, he had 900ish in the skinny test mag and increases the height accordingly to make it fit 1000, and then he cuts that in half (his 34 / 2 = 17 debacle) to get two 500 round magazines. He was correct that his acrylic was thinner than his foam board, but i think he also gained a lot a volume he did not account for by adding the taper and by changing the shape to a curve. The balls will waste a lot of free space if there's just a little lack of space (for example they'd have to stagger instead of sit side by side after loosing just a fraction of an inch) so a small increase in the internal volume can make a huge difference in the amount of balls that will fit within it. I could be wrong, but I think making both the front and the back of the acrylic 17" long would have resulted in a curved mag with a flat top, and the expected 500 round capacity, but by increasing the front to, what, 29.25" long, he increased the volume considerably, because if you straightened the front and rear sections and then drew a line between them, you'd get a steep slope top instead of a flat top like he calculated with originally.
A part of me mourns the death of the flying V design. This thing already looks hilariously diabolical, can you imagine the double magazine?!
I'm so glad Adam has maintained an online presence since Mythbusters ended. I love his happy, frenetic energy

ADAM! put your baking soda in a ketchup or other condiment squeeze bottle (think picnic red open top bottle, nothing fancy), point the nozzle at your superglue filled corner and squeeze, itll blow a fine mist of baking soda at the corner without having to "sprinkle" it on with your fingers. Use the technique all the time at work and it gives much finer control over where the baking soda is going/ending up

I Don't think anyone is too obsessed with them being precisely ONE day builds, more so that they are not week or longer builds. The benefit to the one day builds is that with the shorter build time it lets us see the whole process from start to finish without being too edited down and not being like 3 hours long. I think it would be fine to do 2 or even 3 day builds as long as you can keep the video to less than an hour in length without cutting too much of the process out.

Most people making this would miss calculate the amount of rounds it would carry by around 50 - 100+ rounds but Adam is such a god he only missed it by like 20 or less rounds, what a god.

That's a lot of fun. The only thing it needs is TWO small but firm helicopter-like rotors inside powered by motors. This will turn the balls in the "magazine" (it's really a hopper) and keep them properly feeding so you don't have to constantly shake it to get the balls to feed. Would probably NOT wear out your arm and be way more enjoyable =]

Watching Adam work is really something special. I love it how instead of doing the math to figure out the theoretically required dimensions for the magazine, he just goes straight into prototyping and trial and error. He even free-hands the outline for the curve of the magazine! A true inventor/engineer!
