I cant even imagine the feel of that thing, I got an 09 base LS3 full exhaust and intake dyno tuned, and it still wows me. The C6 is an amazing car for the price.
Hahah I bought a 2009 SL600 (V12 twin turbo) that was flooded in Florida for $7200. 4 years ago!! Deals are out there!! Just have to be patient. Now if only I could get a “clean title” she be worth a fortune 😂
C5 looked great (very similar, so more or less the same), but it hid the headlights away if you didn't like them, just to look a bit more like a ute from the front quarters. Just another weird quirk that makes it look more interesting to me
I’ll knock you out boy… C7 looks more exotic. C6 is beautiful but it looks bland and outdated next to the C7. Even the C5 looks cooler due to the pop up headlights. C6 is a Ferrari 360 knock off with a Chevy Cobalt interior
C7 nope, too much way over the top, C5 very nice had 3 of them, the last one an 04 Zo6 ... beautiful, But the 07 C6 Zo6 ... penultimate, unless you want a 13.
No lie tho I love how happy Doug sounds making his videos. You don’t see it often when someone gets to peruse their dream job and it just WORKS for them
I agree driving a C6 Z06 with that LS7 engine(with the valve train issues fixed) would be remarkable, as well as listening to it, but I would want to love the exterior looks as well and it lost a little from the change from the C5Z.
What about C7 Stingray? I love the c6 z06 and agree it has a better engine, but for the same money c7 stingray has almost as much power and a way better chassis, interior, tech, and handling. I would be happy with either but I’d give the edge to the c7.
And it will look dated in 10 years. Too many angles, to big of a stray from what makes a Vette a Vette. C6 will be the last Corvette with a timeless design. The C8 looks alright now but if you look at the 458, the car it was targeting, it still looks spectacular today. Smooth defined lines everywhere, everything flows together. C7 and C8 are all angles and nothing blends. This is the new GM.
The C7 does absolutely nothing for me. I checked out the Stingray and C7Z when each came out. I didn't even want to drive them. Simply horrible design and style.
Nope, it's only if you drive track style every day, hard hard hard...it's a simple valve job of preventative maintenance...but don't get one because that leaves more for me at a better price.
Many underestimate z06 (c6) track prowess , think of it as it came out in 2006 it established time on N-ring as low as 7:22 (with less advanced tire technology ) and it has passed more than 15 years and even modern 911 carreras with Cup2 tyres lag still behind z06 c6 lap Time ,rangin from 7:30s to 7:mid 20s and these cars are not in the basic trim but with rather rear steering , turbo engines and superior chassis balance and stiffenes . Z06 wasn’t technical marvel it has just good chassis , great suspension and 500+ hp compared to Nowadays 600+ hp monsters , and ancient tyres and still managing to impress with its performance pedigree after 18 years since its release is absolutely phenomenal.
I remember doing an exotic car group program that included an F-430, a Gallardo, the Ford GT (previous generation), a Maserati, a Bentley Continental GT and just how much I loved the Z06. So much better than a regular Vette.
Stock exhaust modded is actually pretty good. The factory manifolds are more like shorty headers and not very restrictive. That said, I have 2" ARH headers into a Borla ATAK, H/C/I (ported MSD) and it is the best sounding car I have ever heard.
I bought a c5 when I was 18. For the past few years my car has actually appreciated in price. Probably because of the c8 release. I think the c6 is out of most peoples price range currently and the c5 is the true baragin here.
@mr.butterworth4216 I watched a video that claimed the C4 compared to the C5 and C6 has huge chassis rigidity issues. Apparently the targa top was meant to be a T-top and they made the change last minute? And didn't have time to fix the issue? I'm saying all this with lots of love for the C4, my dad had one growing up. I'd take a C6Z myself. No real wrong choice with a Corvette!
I got one with HCI r888r's blah blah. It is absolutely a fricken handful. You dont just get to hop in this thing and go WOT. This is one of the most dangerous cars ive ever driven 😅
Lots of owners have complained of serious valve issues on these motors. Was this or a 13 GT500 and I chose the Shelby because of the forum chatter on the valve issues. Anyway very happy with my choice.
I will be in the market for an Atomic Orange C6Z come January. I plan on selling my 1991 JDM tt 2+0 Z32 & using the money from that to help fund it. I may be putting it on cars & bids actually.
That’s the internal battle I have. A c5 z06 in good condition will sell at about $25k and looks several times better than the c6 in my opinion. The c6, however, sells $30-40k but is lighter and has almost 100 hp more than the c5.
Slower than a C6Z, not a driver's car, 4000+ lbs. I know you can get a manual in a V but it's a different experience entirely. If you don't know, you never will. You're definitely an auto guy.
@@carado1984 I am an auto guy you’re not wrong, but have you driven a V? How can you say it’s not a drivers car? There are lots of manuals out there too, not difficult to find.
No, literally everyone talks about the C6 Z06 and the 427 LS7. Go to any video of a ZR-1 or any video showing off their engine and in the comments you’ll find “The 427 V8 in the Corvette is way cooler than this”
C5 isn't a bargin he has 300 hp for 20 30k and the c6 zo6 I've seen sell for 55k so it's not much of a bargain but it's a decent deal cuase it's light and has 500hp
Doug just raised the price of the C6, thanks a lot lol
Nah that build quality is poo

C6 is just so good lookin
I’ve always thought the C6 Z06 to be the pinnacle image of Corvette, and what it represents.
Same
i havent seen a C6Z in the 30k range in a while now. surprised to see Doug say that. Most good ones are 45k and up.
base model and MAYBE a higher milage GS sell for 30 lol
I agree and this is coming from a c5 z06 owner

30-40k ?A quick search online yielded no c6 z06 under 41grand and they go up to 72 grand depending on mileage
LS7 is a Fantastic engine
I got to drive a C6 years ago. That thing was amazing. I’d love to own one in that amazing blue they came in.
This is my "realistic" dream car tbh
Thanks Doug ..."now I gotta find another 10 grand! 😂
The cz6 one is the best bang for buck race car in all the gran tourismo games haha
You forgot to mention the mandatory head work that needs to be undertaken to not grenade your engine.
Not...a valve job is all you need, no need to drop heads in
40k? That's 4x the price of what I paid for my c5 base model. Now that's a bargain!

C5 is the best looking lol
I liked my C5 Z looks better from the factory. Those chrome wheels, and a fancy paint job with Carbon Fiber hood. C6, got to get the wheels upgraded.

Just make sure you get the almost guaranteed engine problem they will get fixed if it hasn't been done already.
Currently got mine in the shop, but love it none the less
I think the Bmw E63-E64 V10 his also a bargain who will up in value very soon.
Pricing in Canada is always more expensive than in the US but the C6 Z06 is regularly seen on AutoTrader selling for 30-40k just like the US

C5 z06 is still the better bargain per horsepower, 405hp for ~20k
Doug!… shhhhh .
Carry on people, remember valve drop issues scary ! run away. 🙃
The only problem is the valve drop.
All fun and games until a sharp turn comes and it becomes a helicopter
Except for the well documented valve issue, that’s not a good value

Doug be quiet!! The people don't need to know!!! 🤣🤣🤣
shit id say a base c5 is the best bang for buck considering you can get them for like 15k
9:30 club!! Is he from DC?
And the mpg of driving reasonable get decent mileage
My favorite Vette. The C6 is my favorite generation, not a fan of the 7 and 8.
Too many angles and edges. None of the design flows well together. C6 is peak classic design.
