    I bought my 04 C5Z 8 months ago. At that time it had 51K on the clock. I’m at 62 now. Stock except for headers/exhaust/mild tune. (Previous owner installed those) Hands down the best car I’ve owned, and it only gets better. No issues whatsoever, except for a door lock actuator, which was cheap and easy to replace. Not the fastest car, nor the most refined, but you’re getting a bulletproof street car, which can handle a track with no issues, for less than the price of a new Civic. Not to mention the simplicity of it all; In a world of lane keep assists, automatic braking, automatic rev matching, etc, this is truly a car that gives you an uninterrupted driving experience. One of the last of its kind.

    When I saw one of the very few C6 Z06 in my country I was hooked and bought it immediately with just 4K miles from the guy who imported it. Now I have an almost new 911 Carrera T too and I love the engineering and the interior of the car. But it’s my full bolt on Z06 that make me laugh from the moment I push the start button. I drive the Porsche like I drive my wife’s Honda, but the Z06 it’s an event itself just to go out with it.

I remember it sounded like the asphalt tearin up bc of the car, so brute was the feeling u got inside.

    Lifelong Corvette fan here, so I really enjoyed this video! I just bought my first one (at age 55) a few months ago - and I went for a 38k-mile C6 Grand Sport - 6-speed manual Coupe. That got me the Z06's gorgeous wide body, wider wheels/tires & larger brakes, a suspension setup that's somewhere between the base C6 and the Z06, and the dry-sump 6.2L LS3 engine (hand-assembled at GM's Wixom Performance Build Center (before it was moved to Bowling Green) alongside the Z06 and ZR-1 engines. That put me squarely between the C5 Z06 and the C6 Z06 horsepower/torque-wise, but with the better interior, better overall fit & finish, and better ride quality of the C6 (though I still love the looks of the C5 too). I was tempted to go C6 Z06, but wanted to stay in the mid $30k price range and I didn't want to have to deal with the LS7 valvetrain issues (surprised this serious issue wasn't mentioned in the video) - even though it's relatively easy to fix (for another $3k or so). I've already autocrossed my GS at a couple of events and plan to do an occasional HPDE. It's a sweet car!

    2004 C5 Z06 owner here. I got mine as the special le mans commemorative edition and I love it. I think it looks better then the c6-7-8. But for the best performance I would take the c6 zo6 anyday. A 427 7.0L LS7 will make any man smile any day. Plus it handles the best in my opinion. The C7 Z06 feels wrong as a track car with that supercharger displacing the weight and the early C7s had major issues with their engines.
    Also that stuff about the interior that everyone rags on? Massively overstated. The C5, while kinda cheap plastic and crappy leather, holds together and is actually pretty comfortable to ride in. I rode in it all the way from New Hampshire to Virginia. The C4 is much harder to sit in, but not many rag on it. Plus it is pretty easy to change a lot of the interior of the C5 to look and feel modern.
    I Love all corvettes though. I would take any of them over most other cars.

    I've had my C6Z for nearly 10 years & covered over 105Kmi. Still in love with it. Very few issues, interior still looks newish...Just did the plugs, belts, wires and C packs. New Michelin 4Ss (if their good enough for Gordon M., good enough for me) and TPMSs soon to be replaced. Can't recommend this car highly enough. But, they're ALL GREAT cars. And the new C8Z should be greater some more!🍻

    My first Corvette is a 2018 Corvette GrandSport Convertible LT3. She's red, torch read with a tan interior. I've taken her to Angeles Crest Highway(new fav road in so-cal) also Asuza 39 2nd favorite only cause it's closer to me than Angeles Crest Highway. I cant stand driving in stop and go traffic so the canyons are my fun get-aways. Anyway, I've been eyeing a C5 red convertible. That long hood with the pop-out headlights is one hell of a sexy ass car in my opinion. I love how sleek and smooth and slippy in the wind it looks. I'm also eyeing a blacked out, C5 Z06 with an LS7. I would love to cam that sucker and install a borla Atak cat-back with high-flow cats and a tune. I'm a big fan of corvettes and I hope when things go back to normal after Rona, I can get them other gen vettes in my garage.

      I don’t see any resemblance to a C4... it’s actually referred to as the C5.5 in corvette circles, because it’s really an upgraded C5

    Feel like the badges are for the future, when HP and ICE vehicles are no longer on the road. I think it will be cool to see the badge, esp since there won’t be many on the road 30+ years down the line

    Just earned yourself a sub, Great video & great production. Not the biggest fan of corvettes but the c5 is nice, especially with the targa tops, perfect blend of modern and retro styling. 👌🏼

    I've got a '19 Z06 and I absolutely love it, it is definitely more capable than I am as a driver. Honestly the toughest thing about driving the car is that I love to row gears, and even by 2nd gear you're already exceeding any speed limit here in the States. I have the carbon race brakes, and the competition seats and nothing I've ever driven inspires the confidence that this car does, this a dream come true.

      Do you still own the C7 Z or have you moved on to the C8 Z or something else?

    • @Biebs74
      @Biebs74 Před 9 měsíci +2

      @oneslackr I do still have it, thanks for asking, and still love it very much. I did just ride in my first C8 Z06 a couple weeks ago, and I was blown away. It's definitely a completely different car. I thought the C7 interior was decent, but the C8 is so much nicer, completely different sound too (of course). I'm going to keep mine, I'd love to get the new one, but I don't have anywhere to put it lol.

      @@Biebs74 : That's cool. Hang on to your Z because the manuals aren't coming back.
      l still have my '18 Z06/Z07 M7 that I bought during the summer of '18. Great car but I barely have time to drive it. I only have 15,998 miles on it now (though I'm leaving next Saturday for a 1,200+ mile road trip). I wouldn't mind checking out a C8 Z like you did to see how it compares. But like you I don't have any plans to get rid of my Z.
      Not to mention the fact that I think the C8 Z06 prices are ridiculous but that's another story.
