    Peter Mandelson doing a better job of defending the Remain camp than ineffectual Jeremy Corbin.

      Jeremy's heart isn't in it. I sometimes think that he's a Eurosceptic who's gone back into the closet for some reason.

    Is that what counts for a debate? An inconclusive scrap about whether or not Chris Grayling attended some EU Council meeting? Hope there's some more worthwhile discussion than that missed in this video. Discussion of Mandelson's EU pension perhaps?

    Mandelson doing the heavy lifting for the good side again. Best Prime Minister the UK never had!

    The science question decides it, for me.
    The science community is amazingly united -- leave the EU and we lose teachers, students, ideas, funding, jobs, business and the genius of British innovation. We need the light of science and tech more than ever before. I won't abandon that call. Vote me "in", friends.

      +SimplyGimpy The mathematics question decides it for me. The UK gives the EU 13.5 billion each year and gets back 4,5 billion each year....If we kept the 13.5 billion we could invest a lot more in science and education.

    • @SteveFusionX
      @SteveFusionX Před 8 lety +1

      +SimplyGimpy The "science" community receives subsidies (our OWN tax money recycled back to us from the EU) on projects approved of by the European union. That money should be given directly to them by our own government - not through an unelected, self-appointed bunch of bureaucrats. You're a traitor if you vote to stay in this undemocratic and extremely expensive club.

    On July 6, 1988, on a North Sea oil rig, 167 people died in the Piper Alpha explosion, The world's deadliest offshore oil disaster, and grayling has the front (typical tory) to totally gloss over that fact and say how safe we are and accuse Mandelson of not telling the whole truth. Thatcher was in her third term and strong criticism of the Brithish Govt's safety policy enforcement on these platforms was made repeatedly, but as usual the tories did little to nothing, costing these men their lives. The hypocrisy of these tories is truly shocking. Kick them out for good, for the good of this country.

    Again, more Mandelson lies. The judges on the ECJ represent the EU in the application of the treaties, and no ECJ judge, irrespective of where he comes from, is allowed to represent any individual EU member nation.

  • @hollyintervener510
    @hollyintervener510 Před 8 lety +3

    More lies from Mandelson. The UK appoints an EU Commissioner, but, as a matter of EU law, that commissioner is prohibited from representing the UK. All Commissioners are prohibited by law from representing the UK. As for the EU Parliament, it is filled with MEPs who do NOT represent nation states or their people. MEPs represent regions of the EU that cut across national borders. And the European Council, while seeming to represent EU member nations,, is mandated to put the best interests of the EU at the forefront when making its decisions. The bottom line is that there is not a single EU institution that represents a single EU citizen. Not one. And that's deliberate.

    Putting Grayling on with Mandelson wasn't exactly fair on Grayling, as he was out classed at every level. However it is excellent to see sensible, balanced and informed coverage of EU issues from the BBC. Better late than never.

    Ah Mandelson, the pompous, self serving, one of the dodgiest of Blair's confidants sent out by Blair to spread Blair's thoughts.
