    One note about exhibition preparation time: unless I'm misremembering, it's not a set amount of time before the exhibition gets going, but rather the amount of time you have to assemble all of the goods. If you have gathered all of the goods before the timer runs out, it will go straight onto the actual exhibition, skipping however much time might remain.

    The palace is absolutely bonkers. The first time I saw the effects add up I couldn't believe they'd put something like that in the game. Feels like the devs didn't fully think through the final combinations. A fun thing is to leverage the attractiveness policies, get higher levels due to them, and at some point you tear down a random building thinking of nothing bad and your island loses a couple thousand attractiveness because one of the policies no longer provides enough to keep the higher level attractiveness boosts you had going on. hehe

    Am I the only one who things that the World's Fair lacks animals?
    I like that building and while I agree that it lost a lot of its functionality because of the Research Institute it is still viable. I use the Fair alongside the Insitute, because some items aren't as important as others and I can wait until the RNG gives them to me, while I spent the valuable research points (and research time) on the crucial stuff. I'm about 170h into my current save and the Research Institute has been constantly working throughout the entire time since I built it, apart from the moments when I'm waiting for the points to gather, so I'm always open for any opportunities to get items from other sources.
    Also for the time of its duration the Fair can push you (temporarily) to the next Prestige level.
    Of all the "overpowered" mechanics Palace might be my favourite. It was such a cool idea to add another tier to the attractiveness mechanic. While the bonuses might not be perfectly balanced they're done pretty well and most of them have some usage in certain phases of the game.

    The palace department of culture at max gives 120% increased chance for visitors. Correct me if I'm wrong on the following:
    - this stat is influencing the 42% base chance of visitors arriving that you can reach with 5500 attractiveness, raising it to 92.4%
    - this stat is cumulative with the effects of items like Travel Agent, Jaafan the Cruise Impresario and Thomasina Langton, Promoter Extraordinaire!

    Playing through now and ignored the Palace because I haven't used many trade union etc buildings. That was a mistake.
    My favourite trick with it has been gaming the influence. As far as I can tell there is no penalty for negative influence, so I adopt all the influence boosting policies, buy all the things I want to spend influence on, then go back to other policies until I need to spend influence again. I may be 1000 influence in the red, but I can get it all back in an instant if I want it.

    Learned a lot from holding off steel beam construction until I was more prepared. Used more of my income to fund pocket watch sales to enbesa then expand. Really helped against difficult ai!

    Doing the palace thing just today. I wasn't going to do it for a while, but the guide was easy so going "for broke". I had sort of wanted a massive city there, but right now its a major wilderness preserve waiting for the palace to build out so it reaches the distant village, and I did choose the +10 museum thing for the 2nd unlock. I have so many of those items from expeditions, but can't use them! Now I can. lol

    I agree about on cultural outreach act + gildhall act should be expolied to the best, on department of labour; union subsidies is more compelling when you hoard good specialists. Late license act perfect if you import all your coffee need with docklands, I was importing 8k coffee for 275k investor on crownfalls and ship load and unload was taking 5-8 min with 10-15k other additional goods

    what I've noticed is I rarely use any other than the 50% electricity buff because rarely does a specialist outshine a direct 50% buff.
    1 extra product every 3 cycles is a 33% production increase = less than 50
    An extra trade union item? What item gives more efficiency than 50%? Rarely do they outperform so I've never really used it either

      also absolutely but for those niche scenarios you mentioned: do you really need that 4th item to get extra resources from or less forest density? Generally I divide my areas well enough so I barely cross industrial areas (for example my goldsmith and jewelers are close to eachother
      Honestly in general I hate how it works with trade unions and hunger cabins, charcoal kilns etc. They take so much space that you're unable to get more than 4 or 5 per union in, compared to the 10-15 production buildings

    I got 93 modules @ my palace on my 'mega save' ;D
    Max prestige level I got was 3. But yeah that save is a tiny bit broken, spent/wasted 250M trying to get a positive income again (and succeeded in the end!)
    Got ~770 ships + also some chartered ones.
    Btw, did you know you could exploit taking over islands? I took over an AI island on repeat, and each time I sold my shares instantly, and each time I would get all shares again (strange how the Queen doesn't mind me 'taking' her shares again after a takeover ;D) - this saved me from going bankrupt.
    Once did it with an AI main island and got 1.5M out of it, then I took it over again and wiped the AI island as I really wanted to take that island, but yeah, could have kept doing it (note: I had A LOT of ships and had to be tactical attacking that island)

      Use items on your ships that increase the range and you can outrange Harbor defenses. Battle cruisers with these items are the best for that job.

    Great thorough guide! Just something I noticed - don't you have the item that let's you build the Great Eastern, in the Great Easter itself? Or is that one different from the one you get from Archie?

      The item you get from Archie does not have an effect that let's you build GEs like a regular ship.

    I have a question at 24:00 the effect is adding storage for connected harbourmasters. How are they connected though? Mine are usually out i the water without any roads. Do we have to take roads to them and hope the palace reaches? I kind of doubt this since I dont think we could build roads out over water until recently, and this is an older mechanic.

      Yeah it was a crappy mechanic before Docklands lol... It's way better now with the quay road.

    Don’t start the world’s fair until you can complete the whole thing. You get negative news if you aren’t working on it once you start construction
