- probably one of the greatest games of all time, the big new feature in this game was the one-timer, which makes this game a lot better than nhl 92 and nhlpa 93 in my opinion. i'm not that great, but im better than i look on this, i have trouble when i record videos because the game lags a lot but the videos turn out fine. anyway, this is for showing the game, not skill. enjoy...

That whistle sound effect is iconic.
One of the things that was revolutionary about this game at the time...team-specific music. The opening faceoff, that circus theme, the Sabres always used that as their theme song. Then at 2:41 on the penalty shot....Let's go Buffalo...clap clap

Good old times!! I remember my brother told me he was going to get NHL 94 when it 1st came out! I couldn't sleep all night !! and was playing NHL 93 and couldn't stop thinking of NHL 94!
This game was/is one of the best games of all time. Especially the Genesis version.

This brings me back to to being 8-9 yeas old and staying up all night playing this game with my best friend at the time.
You can skate goals in from the right side, it was a way to get a cheap goal other than skating across and slapping it. Also one timers were cheap too. You can hit one another on the penalty screen if you skate over to the box.

This game was way ahead of its time. They still don’t have highlights in between periods in NHL 18.

I STILL play this too. To me the easiest way to score is to take a slap shot between the blue line and the faceoff circles with the hand he is, for instance if the player is left-handed shoot it from the left side and if he is right-handed the the right side. It take lots of practice but the best way to practice this is with shootout mode.

yeah agreed.... the music in 95 is incredible... but the gameplay and all was better in 94 in my opinion
I got this just to get Teemu Selänne into the ring. I remember that the records and game stats would get saved, and the best I remember from this game that I played over 3000 5-min matches and after that the screen went green and everything had reset back to factory. Well it was about time, Steve Yzerman 99 goals in a game or so... :(

@GregGumbel i think the reason Mogilny was so highly rated was because of his speed... he's ridiculously fast in this game... but i agree... the 90's Flyers consistently beat the Sabres when it mattered

i still have this, NHL 96, and NHL 97. (i have NHL 97 on both the genisis and the ps1.) you can guess which one is better...

@NirvanaMegadeth1567 my problem with this game is that the only way to score is with the one timer and my teamates are never in a good place for me to to do it, I will skate down the ice with the puck and look for a teamate for the one timer and they are all far behind me every time, is it like this for you?
@PatsFanSteelerHater agreed, you hardly even hear of hockey in general on ESPN too... they don't have an NHL contract as of now and that sucks

I'd recommend downloading Gens Plus! emulator and the original bin file for Genesis.. enjoy... it's an addicitive game

Recchi is better than Mogilny (all around game) and Lindros is better than Lafontaine. Stupid pregame rankings, ruined everything!!!
