Gujarati Thali Recipe | Thalis Of India Episode 02
The land of Gujarat is a blessed place for foods which are high in nutritive content and are delicious at the same time. The influence of Jain culture and Gandhian principles have rendered the Gujaratis most predominantly vegetarian. But there are also communities where goat, chicken, fish and other seafood are allowed in the state. Each of its complete thali combines various methods of cooking that brings out delicious flavours in food. Roti, at least one dry sabzi, at least one curry, a kadhi, rice, are quintessential portions on a Gujarati thali.

Bohra Thali Recipe | Thalis Of India Episode 02
A Bohra meal begins by passing the salt. And it is only after each partaker seated around a big platter has tasted it that the first course is served. Bohra Muslims, who are said to have migrated originally from Yemen to Gujarat, are firm believers in the maxim: “The family that eats together, stays together.
The entire Bohra family dines out of one platter called the thaal. It can typically accommodate eight people. It is elevated with a tarakti (stand) placed on a square piece of cloth called a safra, laid out on the floor. The thaal should not be left unattended, so it is not placed until at least one person is seated for a meal.

THALI means a properly balance meal of the day. Prepared with seasonal vegetables legumes protein and carbs. As Sharmishthaji mentioned that what is available should be in ur plate.. for a change i did not see PANEER in gujarati.. as it is not a part of gujarati cuisine..

First of all its *GUJARATI . Gujarati Thali is more related to what Gujarati people loves, if there are 4 sabji then, one of them might be paneer as a option of change or Novelty, Also sometimes that paneer is cooked in Gujarati style. Other 3 sabji will be Gujarati.. you will also find chaat or dahi wada or dal-baati type of stuff. Some will serve you every item that belongs to Authentic Gujarati. But defination of Gujarati Thali is, it must include every item loved by Gujarati people, However 70-80 % item will be pure Gujarati ONLY. So seeing a paneer in Gujarati Thali is not a big deal. Some places you might find it.

Thank God Gujaratis don't point that using spoons are a part of Western culture
Your nails always contain dirt and germs until u don't brush them before u eat .
So use spoon or invent an Indian cutlery which could replace spoon for semi solid things .

Nails and hands both contain germs and could lead bacterial or fungal infection if not met the hygiene meets
