Missed a lot of signature Bengali items in the thali such as Ichorer (jackfruit) dalna, chhanar dalna, purbhora potoler dolma, dhokar dalna, postor bora, alu posto, begun basanti, katla macher kalia, goyna bori, bhapa doi. Bengali cuisine does not mean only mustard rich food.
Bengali thali cannot be represented 😂in a thali. In vegetarian only soo soo many option. Which one to put which one to keep 😂😂

The second thali was better represented still along way to go. Also chef, eat according to the course. Combinations and order are important. How to eat a meal of a region is also imperative rather than just willy nilly tasting things!

Paturi Hilsa different kinds of meat preparations are also available …the dish which he has presented is Indian version of Lobster Thermidore…and is an innovation not any Ghoti style food. though we are 6 Ballygunge place loyalist I would request Kunal to visit Kasturi also for taste of authentic east Bengal style food!

True. Some people think they can say anything, just because they can. Majority of East Bengali cuisine is one of the simplest cuisines going around and almost frugal as compared to other cuisines, and it was so not by choice but due to lack of choice. Due to it's geography, major portions of East Bengal saw floods every year and would remain submerged under flood waters for more than half of the year. Such floods meant resource constraint. Such floods meant only rice and fish is available, again a staple for East Bengalis which happened not by choice but by lack of choice.
People don't know that those floods, they not only shaped East Bengali cuisine but they shaped everything about the entire community. Traditional East Bengalis in general have much more simple life-style, much less materialistic and of course very simple but lip smacking cuisine, all because of such regular long floods. Any other desires or life-styles, it would succumb to those floods.

The quality of food on the second thali looks way better and fresher according to me.....not sure if chef kunal will agree.....Given the myriad dishes in bengali cuisine....It's difficult to encapsulate inna thali but overall well covered

Suggestion from a bengali , never eat kosha mangsho in restaurant, because every household makes it better than them.
