    I have a rover 220 1999 2.L diseal and it's my first car.. I found him in a scrapyard dealership in Bristol, and he now has a Martini Rally wrapping and he only had 39K miles... he is a beauty 😂

      Hola! 🇪🇸
      Thank you for the comment. Nice to have a 200Vi in your car history, they are great fun. The 200Vi (and 25GTi) were made in 3-door and 5-door.
      Thanks for watching.

    Well done Andy another great video on the Rovers glad to see the MG has gone to a good home and great to see the Vi and the 25GTI again it’s been years wince I have seen one of either and that’s living here in rover country too! Always loved that generation of 200 and remember my dad and brother havjng them when their cars were in for service they were always comfortable
    Great to see the GTI out and on the road and it will be great to see it come back to its best
    It’s great to see these cars being appreciated so much now and would be great to see a comparison video on the channel! All the best Daniel

      Thanks for the comment Daniel and for your support of the Rover content, which never performs as well as the Fords! Having said this, I feature the cars I love here on my Channel so will continue to share my MG and Rover antics to all who are interested.
      As for the GTi, I will try to put it back on the road this year and feature progress along the way. Once done, well I think I'll offer it for sale as can see it being parked up again if I am not careful! Love the car, but there is always something else to drive in the collection which trumps it. Be great to see if with a new owner who can improve and use it.
      Thanks as always for watching.

      Thanks for the comment. These little hot R3 Rovers are real fun, but the one I should have kept really is the BRM. Oh well, I suppose more BRMs will be saved making the 200 Vi a rare car that in time will look at home at a show or two.

It's always good to hear from anyone watching who is still running a Rover (or a couple of Rovers). A 45 Connoisseur is a lovely car, I had one myself around ten years ago. Your 25iS is a cracking car too. 👍

    The 25 GTi is such a cool car. I considered buying one to daily about 5 years ago but couldnt find a good one at the time so bought an MGF VVC. Unfortunately that car has since died ironically of head gasket failure. Id definitely watch any future GTi videos. Maybe ypu coild get it sorted and bring it to POL 2024 😁

    Great video and incredible it started on the second attempt! We're Vi BRM and GTi The same engines?
    I recently discovered that when the bubble 200 and 400 were launched in 95, the early ones used the 1.6 Honda engine, just as the previous generation did.

    • @cornishcarcollectors
      @cornishcarcollectors  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Thanks for the comment, I am glad you enjoyed it. That genuinely was the first attempt to start the GTi... no CZcams trickery! I was properly impressed it started and ran so nicely.
      The Vi, BRM, GTi and MG ZR160 all have the same engine, with the only difference being the ZR160 produces 160bhp and the others circa 145. There are suspension, gearbox and differential differences across the Rovers, but engines are the same.
      Early 'Bubble' R3 Rovers did indeed carry the Honda engines across, but I believe it was short-lived as Rover needed to stop paying Honda so much money!
      Thanks for watching.

    I had a rover 200 vi for ten years lowered it 40mm and fitted 16" wheels with 195 /45/16 tyres handled miles better and looked better there to high up standard. Why is the 25 gti slower to sixty miles per hour they have exactly the same engine and gearbox etc.

    • @cornishcarcollectors
      @cornishcarcollectors  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Thanks for the comment and well done for owning a 200Vi for 10yrs, they are brilliant little cars. I can understand the suspension and wheel upgrade would have helped with handling... it's a tough one as I am keen to retain the OEM look with mine.
      I believe the 25GTi is slightly heavier which will impact performance slightly, albeit the 25GTi is probably the better driving car.
      Thanks for watching, I appreciate it.

      If you are on Facebook or Instagram then please do get in touch as I cannot keep all of the cars. I am planning on having it MOT's and back on the road then, if I am honest, I am not sure what I'll do with it. If there's someone out there who'll love it, taking it on and improving it over time then I will consider selling it on. They need to be used and I do not see myself using this much.
