Russia bombing a children’s hospital in Kyiv while the leader of the country that holds the rotating presidency of the European Council wrapped up a so-called peace tour that included stops in Moscow and Baku before Beijing. At no point during his Kremlin visit did Hungary’s Viktor Orban denounce Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine nor display an EU flag.

I do find it dirty for LePen to make an alliance with Orban almost immediately after the French elections were over. They knew it would be unpopular.
Le Pen won 10m votes ALONE while each coalition got 6m each. What are you talking about? France is not a democracy.
It's politics: RN needed another group (ID had dissolved) and being in a group has been the main goal for Orban (money and commissions roles in the parliament) from the begin.
ECR would probably not have accepted RN because of unclear stances about NATO and Ukraine.
The Lega has always been more akin to Orban then to Le Pen, so it was a clear shifter.
Entering the Patriots was probably the only option, but at least they did it after group rates had been fixed, when the EU commissions are assigned by size of the group. ECR was still the third on 4th July due to that decision so Orban influence is reduced.
Things could also change and permanence in a group is not enforced: everyone can leave at any time.
I'm not a Le Pen fan due to certain positions being kept murky on purpose, but she's always better then the Red caravanserrai which Macron sparked.

It's almost 100 time more than Russia killed so far in Ukraine.
