  • Don't worry, I'm fine. I just figured I'd talk a bit about what the experience was like for me, being someone in a higher risk group.
Short version, my case of Covid was extremely mild. My husband brought it home but never got Covid himself. This video is mostly about me reflecting upon not being able to taste or smell anything. Though there was ONE thing I COULD taste which was a really nice treat.

I got Covid around November because of my bf's coworker came into work with no mask, having felt symptoms a few days prior and not having his test results back. So even though my bf wore a mask, he got it and then spread it to me. Thankfully both of us got a mild case and just got flu like symptoms. I had a lot of head congestion and it was a bit harder to breathe and I was out of breath more than I already was with my asthma. Had a fever, sneezing and coughing, but nothing severe.
Hope you feel better soon. Glad you didn't get a severe case. It's always scary when you're high risk.

Unfortunately, Masks don't help. Hygienic behaviour helps.

YIKES!! I had a friend who lost his sense of smell and he said it was freaky. My experience with the virus, as of typing this, was very very mild until the tail end of it. And when I tested for it, of course it came back negative. But not being able to breathe was kind of a give away hahaha

I’m so glad you’re feeling better and your case was relatively mild. If I wanted to check my taste I’d pull out the soy sauce. I feel like that’s a strong and distinct flavor and if I couldn’t taste that I’d know something was up.

Bless your heart for being in a high risk group & having extremely mild symptoms.
Both of my parents got covid at the start of this year. My father likely contracted it at his workplace from what we could figure. He's highly susceptible to pneumonia, and about a week into it & days after my mother tested positive with symptoms, he ended up hospitalized. Both of them got the pneumonia complication, but only he was hospitalized.
It was nerve-racking, to be honest. Despite the rest of us in the house around both of them, they were the only ones who ever got it. I had to juggle helping them with managing a super heavy workload with school. Even though I had tested negative, I elected to attend classes remotely- because I couldn't be sure whether or not I'd be bringing covid back to school housing on my person or belongings. I feel like the transporting of the virus is not talked about enough. 😵

Add-On, as I finish the video, my condolences about your uncle.
I lost my grandfather and aunt (grandfather's youngest sister, passed away 5-6 weeks prior to him) at peak lockdowns in NJ. Losing loved ones, from covid or not, during that time was especially rough. Funerals and wakes were impossible to have, and the closure is just not really there.

Most of my problems with the pandemic were pretty much mental.
Being extremely aggravatingly disappointed in how parents had taught their kids to wear masks, seeing infants uncovered with only a pacifier in their mouths, adults and kids wearing their masks on their chins instead of over their mouths and noses... yeah... if no one's dying of the virus in my area, it is haphazardly dumb luck. I can't say I can report any kind of fever except for cabin fever, adding stir-crazy anxiety on top of my already existing anxiety. I managed to produce at least SOME art during 2020, but my lifestyle has extremely insufficient preparation, besides washing hands, wearing a mask PROPERLY over the mouth and nose, and social distancing when possible. I've had my ups and downs, but being a millenial with archaic old-fashionedness is extremely difficult.
I'm glad I can still produce art with my motivation messed up as it is. Being creative during a pandemic with little to no in-person social interaction is really difficult to endure.

Sorry about what happened. I'm glad it wasn't too serious. What you've talked about overall about dealing with the pandemic and how to treat others is what I wished everyone understood and took more seriously. Thanks for sharing you're experience with COVID-19. Hope you, your husband, and the rest of your family and loved ones stay safe during this tough, crazy time ❤️

yes the vaccines dont miraculously means everything is back to normal, so many people are thinking they mean everything is fine, nope, thats not how it works people.
covid symptoms are so odd and often different for many people, which is what confused a lot of people at first

I suffered from anosmia for a long time so I completely understand what you feel! However for me it did have it's advantages like changing my son's poopy diapers, cleaning my cat's litter box, and brushing my dog's teeth just to name a few, lol! My husband and I began calling it my little superpower! It really sucks sometimes when it comes to food, because I cannot really smell or taste anything, so I never have much of an appetite and I usually have to rely on imagination and memory to enjoy food. I pretty much just see food as blobs of stuff I'm forced to consume just to stay alive, lol!

Ive had Covid and thankfully it was all mild symptoms. The weirdest thing for me was when I lost my sense of taste and smell for a week. I couldn't smell at all but when it come to taste I could tell if it was sweet or salty that's it. I would make a sweet tea for me to drink and it honestly just tasted like sugar water.

My boyfriend got covid and i remember we were one a video call and he was like " this banana i just ate doesn't smell" and i was like weird , why dont you try other stuff? And soon he was with his laptop all over his kitchen trying to find something he could smell PS: we knew he lost it for sure when he couldn't smell garlic 🤣 oh he also couldn't taste anything and i remember him being so sad because the food he liked so much tasted like nothing

I had copic markers as my 'tester' so when I couldn't smell pure alchohol markers I FREAKED out big time. Worse part- I'm in lockdown, it's my parents that got sick and yet they refuse to get tested even tho there the reason I was sick.
