I am Athletic/Skinny @5'11" and I wear 8 inch shorts. Perfect cross between being short but not too short. At 7 inches you can start looking a little weird, especially if you are above 6ft.

I'm about 5'6" just started wearing 7 inch shorts I was impressed I thought it worked good they did go up to my knees. I'm gonna try to start wearing 7 inch shorts.

Discovered your channel this year and a big fan! Lots of comments about cargo shorts and I think people misunderstood you: they're great for working in the yard, hiking, amusement parks, kids' sporting events, etc....just leave them in the drawer if you want to go smart-casual or better!

Cargo shorts are good for working outside the house but hey you can wear whatever you want at your crib!
I'm 6'1" so the 10-11" inseam is for me. And I look for shorts that wick sweat away from me. I got a couple chinos that do that and a pair of Dickies shorts that do that as well. I will say though, having the extra side pocket comes in clutch more than I thought it would.

Literally just had this convo with my wife like an hour before i saw this video!
My problem is im a 6'3", 190, still fit, 40yr old former track athlete....its so HARD to find anything that fits right!
If i buy something for my true leg legnth, its going to be baggy, if i buy something with a more fitted and shorter leg legnth, its usually tight on my butt and maybe too high above my knee to where it may start to look corny.
I dont know what to do anymore...i dont feel comfortable with my shorts game....i dont want to walk around looking like a giraffe in chinos!!!!
I litterally never skipped a leg day or running sprints curcuits from 1997 to 2013 when i tore my 1st achilles (tore otherin in 2015)...my legs are actually a little bigger now than when I was a D1 track athlete working out and running everyday...if anything, never skipping leg day and working out actually kept my legs smaller.
But now, todays style fits make me feel uncomfortable....and I feel like i look funny.
-i am totally up for some brands of shorts that have the tall athletic guy in mind....and that you dont have to immediately take to get altered as soon as you get them out the store!

I'm not a fan of the traditional cargo pants where it's khaki and the pockets are very pronounced. I just bought the three cargo shorts because I like the color and the pattern and the pockets are not protruding much. I'm going to have the length shortened to about 9 from 11 inches.

Shorts are a tough topic / article of clothing to guide men on, thanks for taking on the challenge! I like my shorts to be just at the knee because I hate when they ride up when I sit. I also have to get them taken in, I only skip leg day every one in a while! 😂😂 Keep up the good work!

I carry a lot of crap in my pockets, so as unstylish as they are, I still use a cargo type short, like the 5.11 Taclite Pro or the Stryke. The pockets are flat enough that they aren’t quite as baggy as other cargo shorts. I do have a few pair of chino shorts, just in case. Great video, as always sir.

I got a random weird quick question for you what if you’re packing a lot of heat up front if you know what I mean then what do you do I found it flat shorts tend to actuate that
I notice that most important think to look is not inseam but our body type and proportions. I have The same height us my friend 5foot8inch but 8 " short look so different on us. Because he have way shorter legs. I usually wear shorts about 2" above the knee so its so important that they dont too wide. But i have exceptions. My jeans shorts with cuff hem hit just above the knee. If they are higher i feel like they go more to feminine side it you Know what i mean.

That's how I think in public I dislike basketball shorts that's a "No, No!" To me and dress shorts are the only type of shorts I like to wear in public.

Good video. But are cargo shorts really that bad? I prefer cargo shorts because I love the extra pockets, they're really useful. I just can't comfortably fit my phone, keys, wallet and whatever else in a tighter fitting version without side pockets.
They are bad style wise but if you like them for utility, go for it

Good advice Jeff, I prefer the flat front chino shorts, but I AM guilty of owning a pair of slim fitting cargo shorts though. I have keys, a wallet, change, and receipt on me, a lot of times, and I have had items slip out of my pockets in chino shorts. Like the polo shirt, where did you get it?

...but what if you're 6'3" and slender? Those short inseams make my legs look skinnier...11-13 in inseams give you less leg exposure and are still on knee...
whatever length falls right above the knee should work..

Exactly what I was saying earlier in my comments...im 6'3" too, althletic build, weight between 190-200....and on top of that, i need to dress like the newly turned 40yr old married father that I am
-most things in stores thes days just dont fit correctly on our body shape...especially if you try to get some thing a little more fitted, it makes our legs look even more skinnier!!!

Man leg day dont have nothing to do with it...ive had chicken legs from youth...through high school...through being a D1 Track athlete...through just turning 40!
-and now that that is more stylish and "of my age" to wear more fitted clothing...it has just rekindled my leg insecurities all over!
Doesnt matter how defined my leg muscles are or hoe ive trained them for over 20 years....im always just going to have "jumper's" legs, lol!

Why would you want to watch shorts that short and show off your legs like your female in your shirt is longer than your shorts the shorts should be closely to the knee or just a little bit past the knee but no longer than that
