I wear the 7" shorts that Gap sells as a staple product. They're very durable and come in a variety of colors--great spring and summer wear! As for socks, I wear Aesics ankle socks all the time.
yes about the length. I just visited the US and that was the #1 issue I had with men's fashion there, so many men wearing basketball shorts that went down to their calves. If you're picking up the kids from soccer practice, fine, otherwise that looks really sloppy. Just wear pants that go to your shoes if you're afraid to show your knees.
Top Tip! I was looking online at buying some Ralph Lauren navy linen/cotton shorts that cost £120 ($160). Then I remember that I had a great pair of navy Ralph Lauren linen summer trousers that I don't wear as I have several new pairs of light summer trousers I prefer. They were still in great condition and fit perfectly, which you cnanot be certain of when you order online, so I took them to my tailor and had them made into short. So £7.50 ($10) instead of £120 ($160) and I could pick exactly how long I wanted them and non of the hassle of sending back things that don't fit.

I use the rule of kilts for short length. Middle of the knee cap to top of the knee cap (top of the knee cap being traditional) and never any more that 1" above the knee, though thats still considered to be "wrong". Any longer or shorter in a kilt and its considered femimine.
Wearing my shorts for the first time this year, pair of khaki chino shorts I bought for £12 from a cheap high street store and they fit more perfect than any clothing I’ve ever owned and I’m a 26 leg in trousers so fitting anything off the shelf is not something I come across 😂
330 I like the far left shot, which you call too short. I'm a 70s kid. We wore gym shorts and tennis shorts with 2 inch inseams so everything today looks like ghetto clothes to me. I like lots of leg, ease of movement and a nice tan. Speedos are great for swimwear, board shorts pretty much suck. You get tangled up in them.

I'm gonna go and say, it depends on the circumstances and setting. In Manhattan or London, probably not. In Melbourne Barcelona or a smaller seaside town, I'd say no problem. What's always a good idea is to wear a long-sleeved shirt (rolled up or not), that always makes it look more classy and less delivery guy.
I'm going to continue to go by what was acceptable in the 90s, for me just above the knee is short enough, before 2005 that sort of length was normal and nobody thought anything about it. But I do also like knee lengths and 3 quarter lengths and agree those look a bit more modest. But I don't like no show socks because I prefer to keep my ankles and feet coverd at all times unless I'm on the beach. I don't like anything shorter than mid thigh, maybe if I was around in the 70s or 80s I would have worn short shorts.
Antonio i will ad The info that The same inseam can work differently on 2 persons with the same height. I will not focus so much on inseam but overall look , because our body types are so different. Some of us can have very Long torso and short legs. I and my friend have the same height and when we wear 7 " inch shorts we look extremly different. I look like wear sonething 5" Because my leg are Long. In my opiniom evrything that sit just above or 1" inch is safe zone . For me 2 " Above knee caps is Max even in shorter guys

I can never find anything that fits me right. I am big into powerlifting, but stay fairly lean so my proportions are all over the place. 5' 6.5" with a 29 inch waist but a big chest, shoulders and thighs. If I had the scratch to do it I would have everything tailored, but the bill adds up quick when almost everything you own needs it. I have found a few companies that do a great job with more casual button ups that have the no tuck length, slim fit but a bit more room in the upper portion. Although I still tend to strain the second or third button when standing straight with proper posture. Shorts other than athletic wear are all over the place and either make my legs look like over stuffed sausages or drowning in boxiness. A good problem to have though I guess as at one point I was just plain short and fat, and that was even less fun finding clothes.
I kinda agree and disagree on some of your points First of all I agree on 2:30 because if I’d wear a style like that with the wide shorts, I’d end up looking something like MC Hammer and “Can’t Touch This” which kinda looks ridiculous if I looked like that I do disagree slightly with length 3:38 because if I’m a goalie in soccer, I’d wear shorts well below the knee because that’s what they’re made for, they’re known as “quarter length” shorts and that’s the typical goalie shorts Also 8:10 I do like the greys, blues, browns, and even white or black. For my everyday basis, I go more for the browns And finally for socks, for bed I do like the longer crew socks, but in general I wear ankle socks

For example I got myself a long belt (which I simply just put through the loops on the back) with brass rivets + a small bag for cellphone, keys etc. and it's looking BADASS! It's a simple but outstanding addition to ones style. Adding up to boots, I go rather with historical reproductions, which have a way higher impact on ones appearance! Just rambeling, if you need some ideas regarding that matter I'd gladly contribute you some!
if you are into vintage styles and such Brooks Brothers have vintage style boxers like the military issued in WWII and Korea with the button yoke and the do not have the ties on each side but one the tie back had that string adjustment for the waist in the back or the French Backhas a double yoke design with buttons to adjust the waist and there is NO elastic in the waist most comfortable boxers I have ever worn..lots of room nice open fly button yoke front and did I say comfortable lets the junk breath and it is like not wearing any underwear at all... just FYI on a vintage style dresser

I LOVE THIS VIDEO! I wear a lot of shorts because I live in New Orleans and it is hot most of the year. I have one question though. If you are a heavyset man do you want to stick to dark color shorts and dark color shirt or match shirt color with shirt color. I know before with pants like chinos and others you said for a heavier man they should stick to dark colors and don’t wear a dark shirt with light pants or light shirt with dark pants because it cuts your body in half. Does this apply to shirts too or just for long pants?
I hate socks so much. I hate how they cause short or bald patches son my legs. I try and push even longer socks down below the hairline. I have tried different Low socks and it only takes a few steps in shoes or slippers for them to come right off my heal and half way down my foot. any time a sock is shorter then the back of shoes or what ever they wont stay on. If I walk around in just sock feet then the socks stay on. but i get sore feet from standing and walking
I would say that it's not necessarily the height of a man that dictates the inseam length but the distance from crotch to knee. I have a longish thigh bone in comparison to my height and even 9" inseams are a little on the short side for my taste. A long thigh bone also reeks havoc on some aircraft seats.
length of short well going on the advise of several doctors along the line and PCP, Urologist and Dermatologist say men should only wear boxers unless for some medical reason I just make sure my shorts are longer that my boxers and those do very in length as well.. so as long as my drawers are not hanging out of the legs of my shorts I feel I am good. Socks.. no show with loafers or a good wing tip or such as that (wish I could find some that did not slid down my heal and end up under my foot yes I have paid some good money for them and still it happens) or in athletic shoes ankle socks are good no black nude or white... Yes I know you and the other style experts push boxer briefs but those get the junk just way to hot any time of year so boxers all the way or in the gym it is a nice CLEAN jock, and yes shower at the gym. Just gets me how business men will go to the gym during lunch work out wearing briefs or boxer briefs after working out take off gym cloths and put back on a suit or business attire in those nasty damp underwear with no shower ... Remember the days in Middle and High school gym class you had to take a shower and those were always gang or communal showers. Even the coach if he had to teach a regular class after our class he too was also in the gang shower with us to get the smell off of him.. In those days no one gave a second thought on men showering... what has happened that nearly every man in this country is afraid to let another man see him without clothes on... wake up folks other than England we are the only country so prudish.. in the far East whole families bathe together in public baths with other families and not a thing is thought of it... so get over being naked in front of other men you do not have anything they do not have or have not seen... okay off the soap box now but anyway shorts that are long enough to not let the legs of my boxers show and no show with loafers or oxfords and ankle with athletic shoes
Point came to mind: Don't wear boxers or briefs (they are underwear) in lieu of shorts. Face it, we've all done that at some point... Edit: Could someone pull off wearing a kilt in place of shorts 🤔? Edit 2: For socks, agree with you on either no-show with loafers or none with sandals. And you were only half-joking in that cargo shorts video... PS: Hate the book you mentioned. It's crass trying to be classy.
I wear my kilt all year round and in the summer it is great it can be worn as casual or as formal as you like and in the south west it really is nice to go regimental way of wearing it...lots of air down there. I am sure you know the saying regimental is a kilt underwear under it makes it a skirt
Guess I will keep wearing shorts "wrong" then. Shorts have to be at least slightly over to the middle of the kneecap for me, otherwise I feel uncomfortable almost naked, especially when I sit and they climb up the leg. 2-4 inches when sitting from the knee cap is okay, not while standing. Being 6'2" makes it hard to find shorts that I feel comfortable in because of the standard lengths. I personally think shorts as short as you describe look horrible on men and would prefer not to see that much of a man's thigh, just does not look right. Luckily my wife feels the same way otherwise I wouldn't be wearing shorts again.

you can dress in nice shorts not those banger huge legs shorts but short like Antonio has show here with either a dress shirt sleeves rolled up or a polo and both should be tucked in and for heaven sake make sure you wear shirt stays for shorts to keep yourself looking nice and put together you can find out what those are on this channel if you do not know. and get the ones that do not go to the socks but to a band on the thigh
Simple answer once guys become teenagers they should never wear shorts unless at the beach, sleeping like I do because I get extremely hot sleeping or doing a physical activity. If doing a physical activity the shorts need to be the shorts for that activity so for example if your playing basketball you should only be wearing basketball shorts.
Shorts look terrible on me because I have a but in the front and butt in the back. My belly is just a bunch of cottage cheese all balled up and puffy like a butt.

Honestly I'm slowly shifting from cargo shorts to a little more dress type shorts.

Socks.. no show with loafers or a good wing tip or such as that (wish I could find some that did not slid down my heal and end up under my foot yes I have paid some good money for them and still it happens) or in athletic shoes ankle socks are good no black nude or white... Yes I know you and the other style experts push boxer briefs but those get the junk just way to hot any time of year so boxers all the way or in the gym it is a nice CLEAN jock, and yes shower at the gym. Just gets me how business men will go to the gym during lunch work out wearing briefs or boxer briefs after working out take off gym cloths and put back on a suit or business attire in those nasty damp underwear with no shower ... Remember the days in Middle and High school gym class you had to take a shower and those were always gang or communal showers. Even the coach if he had to teach a regular class after our class he too was also in the gang shower with us to get the smell off of him.. In those days no one gave a second thought on men showering... what has happened that nearly every man in this country is afraid to let another man see him without clothes on... wake up folks other than
England we are the only country so prudish.. in the far East whole families bathe together in public baths with other families and not a thing is thought of it... so get over being naked in front of other men you do not have anything they do not have or have not seen... okay off the soap box now but anyway shorts that are long enough to not let the legs of my boxers show and no show with loafers or oxfords and ankle with athletic shoes

I wear my kilt all year round and in the summer it is great it can be worn as casual or as formal as you like and in the south west it really is nice to go regimental way of wearing it...lots of air down there. I am sure you know the saying regimental is a kilt underwear under it makes it a skirt

Guess I will keep wearing shorts "wrong" then. Shorts have to be at least slightly over to the middle of the kneecap for me, otherwise I feel uncomfortable almost naked, especially when I sit and they climb up the leg. 2-4 inches when sitting from the knee cap is okay, not while standing. Being 6'2" makes it hard to find shorts that I feel comfortable in because of the standard lengths. I personally think shorts as short as you describe look horrible on men and would prefer not to see that much of a man's thigh, just does not look right. Luckily my wife feels the same way otherwise I wouldn't be wearing shorts again.

you can dress in nice shorts not those banger huge legs shorts but short like Antonio has show here with either a dress shirt sleeves rolled up or a polo and both should be tucked in and for heaven sake make sure you wear shirt stays for shorts to keep yourself looking nice and put together you can find out what those are on this channel if you do not know. and get the ones that do not go to the socks but to a band on the thigh

Simple answer once guys become teenagers they should never wear shorts unless at the beach, sleeping like I do because I get extremely hot sleeping or doing a physical activity. If doing a physical activity the shorts need to be the shorts for that activity so for example if your playing basketball you should only be wearing basketball shorts.
