  • The Witcher 3 is widely regarded as one of the greatest RPGs ever, in fact, I can confidently say that this is my favorite video game of all time, and it's easy to understand why. Not only did I finish it 3 times, but each playthrough made me sink over 100 hours into the world. That's not even including the 2 DLCs. This is my personal review of the game and everything I love about it.

    The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt[b] is a 2015 action role-playing game developed and published by CD Projekt. It is the sequel to the 2011 game The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and the third game in The Witcher video game series, played in an open world with a third-person perspective. The games follow the Witcher series of fantasy novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski.
    The game takes place in a fictional fantasy world based on Slavic mythology. Players control Geralt of Rivia, a monster slayer for hire known as a Witcher, and search for his adopted daughter, who is on the run from the otherworldly Wild Hunt. Players battle the game's many dangers with weapons and magic, interact with non-player characters, and complete quests to acquire experience points and gold, which are used to increase Geralt's abilities and purchase equipment. The game's story has three possible endings, determined by the player's choices at key points in the narrative.
    The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One in May 2015, with a Nintendo Switch version released in October 2019, and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions titled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition which was released in December 2022. The game received critical acclaim, with praise for its gameplay, narrative, world design, combat, and visuals, although it received minor criticism due to technical issues. It holds more than 200 game of the year awards and has been cited as one of the greatest video games ever made. Two expansions were also released to critical acclaim: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. A Game of the Year edition was released in August 2016, with the base game, expansions and all downloadable content included. The game has sold over 50 million units as of March 2023, making it one of the best-selling video games of all time.

    I’ve always appreciated how despite being a Witcher/super human and the main character, Geralt isn’t the savior of the world or does he ever really get treated like a hero. Geralt is a monster hunter and viewed as a freak. He just raised the girl who ends up saving the world from the white frost and has god like powers. Meanwhile he enjoys traveling around and being on the hunt.

    I played Witcher 3 for the first time last year, and it was unlike anything I've played before, even compared to RDR2. It's a truly fantastic RPG. I got so captivated by the side quests that I took a break from searching for Ciri. The side quests had compelling stories, and I liked how they influenced the main plot (like the Bloody Baron quest etc.)
    I still don't know how to play Gwent tho 😂

    • @Otakubro6
      @Otakubro6 Před 4 měsíci +5

      That's an easy game too play read the rule book lol the highest number wins at the end of each round and there is only two rounds, you get multiplier cards that can double or triple your score, spy cards that go to your opponents field but brings back cards from your graveyard back onto your side of the field. Weather cards are continuous effects that reduce both you and your opponents points based on the rows that the weather cards effect the only way too be immune too the effect is to not play in the rows that are effected by the weather cards, or the sunny weather card that negates the effects of the weather cards and removes them from play. Also your leader card gives you added battle abilities.

    I'll never get bored of playing this game annually during the winter months in a very narrative-focused style ('Geralt-like' decisions; Story and Sword! or at most Blood and Broken Bones! diff. which allows for using a lore-friendly sword combat based build and gear without the need of abusing any OP mechanics that were maybe cool during the 1st ng+ run; most icons on screen toggled off; logical quest order from a narrative perspective). No video game experience compares to this in my opinion, it's like playing yourself through a masterful film series with so, so much to rejoice in, especially the soundtrack.

    The Witcher 3 is the only single player game I have ever put 500++ hours into. The Witcher 3 is the second only game which was so good that all other games which came after felt bad. It took until Red Dead 2 and Kingdom Come before I managed to enjoy a giant stroy driven open world game again. (The first game that destroyed other games for me was Cod Black Ops 1. It was so good that I never quite managed to enjoy any other shooters again. Even in the Cod franchise. It has exclusivly occupied my fps gaming all the way since it was launched up until today)

    It was very difficult for me to move on after I finished this game the first time. Skellige is so amazingly beautiful.. Velen was the scariest for me, scary and exciting. The music, witches of crookback bog, botchling, grave hag, etc and I was so focus & making sure that I was on my guard at all times, ready with Quen, potions, the best blades, armor. I read about mutations, chanting, monsters, I even bought the whole Witcher book set. I was never even like this for my school exams !! It was such a superb feeling, I was fully absorbed in the universe and it's stories. I felt that I was truly Geralt himself. This is one of the greatest RPG ever.

    Started my 1st proper playthrough on PC a week ago. I have played it a few times over the years but didn't get any further than around 20 hours or so and ended up getting distracted and playing other games, games curse I call it. I have racked up 70 hours in the last few weeks and I am so much more invested this time. I still think the dialogue is a little heavy at times when it doesn't need to be but I have got past it this time and gonna try and do everything.

    More than just a game. It's crazy that I literally cannot imagine anything surpassing TW3 as my favorite of all time... I could go on for days talking about this game, but instead, I'll just say this, I played this game so much, that even after I hit level 100, and platinum, and did every quest and crafted every piece of witcher armor and mutagens, collected all Gwent cards, I still continued to play the game because simply riding horse around the world and observing the suroundings is enough, the atmosphere and world building is just thatg good.

    You've probs heard this already but if you take the history of the games and books into account, the Triss vs. Yen dilemma becomes more nuanced. What we see in W3 of Triss is her redemption arc for her past misdeeds so we see the better aspects of her. Also Yen actually becomes a lot more agreeable after the battle at Kaer Morhen. Her maternal concerns about Ciri exacerbates her sassiness and ruthlessness in earlier parts of the game. And if Geralt ends up with Yen after the finale, we see a glimpse of a much more relaxed and positive dynamic with her and Geralt once you finish Blood & Wine, hinting at a happy future together. Defs personal preference, but one isn't necessarily better than the other if the whole context is considered.

    I think kaehr morhen is one of the best regions in the game. As soon as you walk out on that balcony (if you know, you know), you realise it is the most beautyfull place in games you've ever seen. I admit I didn't think much of Kaehr Mohren (please don;t make me spell it again), untill I really delved deep into it. It turns out there is so much hidden places, so much ancient stories and pure witchers lore it was nothing short of fascinating to get to know all what... this region... has to offer. Don;t forget one of the most memorable parts of the main game take place there - the beginning, familliarising with your fellow witchers, drinking with your best friends (one of the funniest parts of the game), fighting Wild Hunt, getting close with Ciri, Avallah, burying the best side character in TW lore and more. This region, despite small, has so much to offer, densly packed, but if you deliberately do not search for it, you'll never find it, and in some cases, you need to search reaaaaly deep.

    Well... I am from Poland so I knew what is The Witcher very well. We had that tv show in 2002. It wasn't great but I think that it is closer to the original than Netflix show. Then there were games like W1 and I was totally ignoring it. I was playing at that time Heroes of Might and Magic 4 and Prince of Persia: The sands of time. And then.... There was The Witcher 3 and I was curious. And you know what? Instead of Playing W3, I have started from the beginning, from The Witcher 1. And this game is absolutely my top 5 games! The characters and stories are absolutely fantastic. I am so happy that I have started from the very beginning. I understand that this game is very outdated but I can't wait for The Witcher remake. You will love this game if *CDPR* will make it properly. Oh, and after finishing W 1,2,3 I have read all of the books too. They are very good. Also Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is really good story driven gwent game (ok, sometimes it is frustrating cause it is rally hard on highest difficulty).

    Also, I don't really get why some people seem to dislike the combat. I personally love the combat and know that others enjoy it too. The fast movement feels fluid and 'free' and it's super fun to zip around the battlefield. It feels like a nice blend of Arkham and Souls-like combat. I personally hope the company retains this style of combat in their future Witcher games.

    Triss may not get as much dialogue or screen time in the wild hunt, but you have to consider the fact that she was the focus in the other games, and this is literally the first appearance yen has in the whole witcher trilogy. But if you were to play witcher 2 you'd know that triss found a brainwashed geralt, who had just lost his daughter and beloved yen, and instead of helping him, triss decided to pretend ciri didn't exist and to tell geralt that she herself was the sorceress that he loved before his memory wipe. She fucking manipulated the shit out of him. And she even owns up to it shortly after encountering her in wild hunt. She says something like " be careful, you wouldn't want someone to take advantage of you... I did".
