- This RTX 3050 is a great card for Dell, HP, and Lenovo office PCs that lack power connectors, but that's about it. We test #helldivers2 #cyberpunk2077 #rdr2 and #hogwartslegacy to see if the #nvidia RTX 3050 6GB can actually support ray tracing.

Interesting! Even with the 3GB model, I had no idea there was a 30 series card that doesn't require power connectors. Also, you had me at "office PC" 😄
Yeah it's kind of cool, it's basically a souped up laptop GPU. Unfortunately, that's it's only good feature, as well as it's downfall. I could see this being a great card for an old Lenovo machine though, and the key is... The price will only keep going down.
finally a video of rtx 3050 6gb on office pc, I waited so long for this!
Glad to hear it. 🙏
For that price, no external power, brand new card, it's not a terrible option. Still pretty hard to recommend though for most.
I ageee. It's a hefty price to pay for basically a juiced up laptop GPU.
I actually saw the nvidia hdr feature and want an nvidia shield that supports it
I find it a decent option if you want to buy an older Dell optiplex (with an i5-7400 or i7-6700/7700). You could probably end up with a very-low budget streaming pc, for let's say valorant, rocket league, minecraft or maybe cs2
For sure. It's definitely better than anything else at it's price point, without a PCIE power connector. The 3050 is a tough sell if you're able to spend even $30 more for a 6660. Thanks for the comment!
Wonder how much of an overkill this would be for a homelab system? I'm currently using a Quadro M2000 and maybe it's time to upgrade as AI chat takes time to generate (around 30-60 seconds per prompt)
What CPU is in your home lab system?

Can you do a comparison with a gtx 1650 ddr6? I have one inside an old office pc, i need to buy another gpu for a similar pc and i was wondering if it would be best to buy the first one a 3050 and just put the 1650 on the second one.
Sure
@@50shadesofbeige88 thank you, can you also do it in a pci 3.0 mobo?
I had a quick look. The 3050 6G is considerably faster and more capable than the 1650. They're both basically the same price if you're buying new, and the resale value of the 1650 is relatively low. So if you're in a situation where you don't have a PCIE power connector, just grab a 3050 and put it in your main rig.
@AB-wl5ny sorry I just saw your note about the motherboard. I will try that now, and I'll upload everything into a short. I'll comment here when it's done.
So the only value it has is if you don't have PCIe power. 💀
Yup. That's basically it. 😂
I was rushing to get the video out, but even the 4GB 6500XT beats it in several titles, and the 6600 and RTX 2060KO both blow it out of the water.
@@50shadesofbeige88 It is a shame we don't have more powerful cards that don't require additional power. It would be interesting to see how much power the fans draw. Even if it was only 6 watts that would still be more TDP for a boost clock headroom.
Yeah good point, and Samsung's 8NM process was far from efficient. I'd also like to see a card that comes with an optional 6PIN power connector that you can toggle with a bios switch.... I can dream, can't I?
I think I'll try powering the fans externally, just to see what happens.
