Bambu Lab, makers of the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon and Bambu Lab P1P, just released the Bambu Lab P1S, and in this video, we're going to review it.
**Bambu Lab provided this review unit free of charge, but no money has changed hands. They will not see this review before you, and they have had 0 input on this review. All opinions are my own!**
We'll go over the new features of the P1S, the P1S vs. the P1P, P1S vs. X1 Carbon, and P1S vs. Creality K1. There, that's all the keywords. LOL!

THANK YOU for watching. I would love to know what you thought of it... but please always keep comments respectful!
Great comparo. By the way, I'm perfectly fine with product reviews. Helps me stay up to date with the market and I'm always "in" it, because who the hell doesn't need another printer???
I really like this video of comparison on different 3d printers. But, I would want more kind of comparisons on different priced printers too. Lastly, what does exotic materials mean. I really love ur video and u made me learn a lot.
I do like your reviews. I know you don't like doing them. However, they are my favorite videos. Thanks
@@AndyRC I actually like doing them somewhat, but not as much as projects, I guess. Though, if it's the right printer, I enjoy it
I literally received my P1P YESTERDAY.😭 I would have gotten the P1S instead for $100 more. I sent messages to Bambu Lab, waiting to hear back about upgrading or exchanging.
Re: cannibalizing their X1C sales, their hand was COMPLETELY forced by the K1.
Thanks so much for this video. It was clear, concise and not dry. Great production value as well. For the past few weeks, I was looking hard at the P1P. Not knowing what the future held in the P1S. I appreciate the timeliness of your video and it helped me decide which direction to go. As far as continuing with comparison videos, please do. You have a talent for it and it's hard to find good content from time to time. Thanks again.
I love comparison videos and yours have a perfect mix of information and fun without being excessively long. Keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!
Already bought the P1P to P1S Upgrade Kit for 160€. Nice that it is possible to upgrade. 👍
I love product reviews and comparisons. But what I really love is project videos, I’m always looking for cool useful things to print.
Another great video. Only other thing worth mention is that they have a P1S upgrade kit that they are selling on their site for $150 for everybody who already bought a P1P
The whole reason I follow you is for product reviews and comparison videos I really like your approach simple enough to not be boring detailed enough to actually feel like you understand it please do more.
Ok you got it.
would LOVE more comparison/review videos, it really helps when there's context against another product in similar features/budget, etc.
I glad you got a first look before some other channels. Intevewing the ceo and now scoring this first look shows your channel is more than capable of being fair, consistent and professional. Keep up the great work.
This is a great first look at the printer. It is a nice addition to the Bambu line up. I've completely given up on other brands for now. If Bambu releases a larger format printer it will be game over for the competition. The next layer is a great showcase channel.
@@LilApe Agree, That’s all CZcamsrs, it’s all about the money and then the product. Before CZcams, individuals just borrowed stuff and wrote about their experiences. Individuals were not bought, making consumer reports more reliable.
Awesome, thank you!
Nope, that deal never went through. To date, Bambu has never given me a dime, only free printers and filament.
I'm always as objective as I can be @neo... even when it's sponsored content, I don't hide the things I don't like.
I actually appreciate the review videos, keep up the good work!
Just getting into 3d printing and purchased the p1s. Your videos have been inspiring to say the least. I appreciate all the great content
Great video man. I appreciate the absolute clarity. The editing and the environment are good too.
My P1P just arrived, yesterday. When this video showed up, I was afraid I was going to regret not waiting another week. After watching, I am still happy with my purchase. Thanks for all the good information.
I still prefer a printer without enclosure
@@accumall3027 They are certainly easier to maintain and repair as you can get all around them. Some of the side-kits are held on with magnets so at least you can rip them off no problem.
As someone who already upgraded and enclosed my P1P myself, I'm very happy that BambuLab are offering -each- single part, that differs the P1S from the P1P. You can also get a set and simply upgrade it yourself to this new version.
So in other words: an upgrade "enclosure" kit with all the parts for 99 bucks would have been sufficient enough? Hmm...
@@hassosigbjoernson5738 The P1S is the same machine as the P1P, just a few things added. You can check the -exact- difference in parts by going to the Bambu Store and look for the Upgrade Pack.
@@hassosigbjoernson5738except it’s $200. Get the P1S and save the $100
Oh man, might pick up one of these it looks like the perfect "secondary" printer after my X1
To answer your question, as long as your videos stay consistently professional, snappy, and informative like they always have been, I'm happy to watch whatever you post man
I love comparison videos! I'm not at all tech savvy or electronics knowledgeable, so reading specs usually just goes over my head. I get a much better understanding of what might be best for my purposes with videos like yours :)
I've just upgraded to a p1s from an ender 3v2, what an upgrade! The ender isn't bad to start with but when you can reduce a print time from 3 days 5hrs to 7 hrs (mostly the printer but also fine tuning in babmbu studio) then that is above anything else a major selling point.
I don't see the issue with the display as I never use it anyway. Sending from studio makes life so much easier. My only gripe is it is noisy! Much more noisy than the ender.
Hi, future bambu user here, have you tried the new firmware with noise cancelling? Sure it doesn't help for rod travel or fan noise, but damned if it doesn't help for beep beep boop motor noises :D
Just want to jump say Congratulations for 50K! 🎉🎉🎉
Great video! There were some things about the first gen Bambu Lab printers that kept me from buying in but this one is tempting. You gave me something to think about so thank you for that. Other thing, comparison videos are great because it does educate viewers on products we can't get our hands on so readily. I do have to say that what always brought me back to your channel were the projects that you talked about. It makes it possible to see, for those newer to this, what 3d printers can do and opens our creative minds so much more. In essence, keep them both up but don't forget about the creative aspect that you bring. Warmest regards!
You got it, I'll do a mix :)
@@thenextlayer always a pleasure and appreciated. Studio is looking great btw!
Thank you for the awesome review and comparison. Awesomeness!!!
Thanks!
Great video! I don't know if it takes you too much effort in these kind of videos but, hey man, what a wonderful result! This is, by far, the best video review I've seen of a the P1S and believe me, I've seen my share. BTW, I just got my brand new P1S... thanks to your analysis and great work! Congratulations and keep those videos coming...
Wow thanks! I really appreciate the kind words. CZcams can be a tough game. But comments like this keep me going!
New to your channel, great review and comparison! I wouldn't have known it was available today if it was not for your video. I picked up the P1S with AMS and used your referral link. Keep up the good work!
THANK YOU for supporting the channel and for the kind words
Yes I love the reviews. Their honest and to the point
Thanks for the info! I was on the fence about the X1C, but watching this led me to picking up the P1S with AMS with your link.
THANK YOU!
Great video and content you provide! True and honest review and comparison videos with clear and straight to the point like you provide are what we all the the community needs and wants!
I do have 2 questions in which I hope you can share some insight. I’m looking to do a project printing in ASA as it will be intended for outside of cars and dealing with weather conditions. 1: Is ASS still the best choice for this? 2: would ASA require more of the X1C printer or P1S would be just fine? Thanks in advance for your time and thanks for the content you provide to the 3D community!
Great review. All of my older printers are dialed in and working well. I'm saving my money and watching this next generation of printers mature and get the kinks out. I want my cake and eat it too this time (speed, print quality, and quiet) then they can take my money. My beloved original CR-10 heavily modded has been a workhorse. I'm looking for something to replace it in this next generation of printers so the K1 Max intrigues me for its build size. Early adopters should always be aware that price drops, upgraded models, etc. could be a day away. As you advise, buy only what you need and don't be seduced by features you won't ever use.
Comparison videos are the most helpful in my opinion 😁
I love the video! Currently rocking the king plate from amazon and love it not one bad print off it yet no matter the material i choose and havent cleaned it after 10+ prints! Getting the p1p enclosure soon! Excited to see the differences in print qualities from w/o and with enclosure
Another excellent video! The quick preview you are giving to me is very valuable because I'm about to buy a Bambu Lab anytime soon. Oh, and I was thinking before the "S" was for a smaller printer! Thanks!
Thanks so much! I'd greatly appreciate if you use my link to purchase :)
Very helpful video. Personally, I'd love to see comparison (and review) videos. I think "what printer should I buy and why?" is an evergreen subject, or at least until most people have a printer.
super review, thorough with great personal insights and comparisons! thanks!
I like you trying to keep a straight face when you mentioned the K1 Max and if it might take sales away from the X1C.
Thank you for reviewing this!
As always amazing review thank you
I'm glad you gave the little bit about you wanting the higher end stuff in your PC because I'm the same way. I have the money to spend on the flagship, but if it's really not warranted I don't want to just throw the money at it. I still really want the X1C but, may ultimately go for a P1S.. Gonna try to order some for work first and get a first hand look to see if I really want these features.
Great overview! One small clarification is that the carbon filter is not technically a HEPA filter. Although it will help absorb some VOCs it will not be able to filter particles at the same level a true HEPA can
This helps a lot. I was actually thinking about getting a printer as a main non 3D printer hobby. My current and only one is often down due to my failed experiments and that puts everything else non 3D printer related (but needs 3D printer parts) on hold. This may be just it as I can't see myself stopping tinkering with 3D printer experimental upgrades (for speed 3D benchy, or other novel features like accelerometer based Z offset), but also like to have less downtime. And budget is really a thing for me and this may just be it if I temporarily swap the experimental budget towards this one. Great service.
First time viewer so can’t say too much about what kind of content you should make, but this video was excellent. Very well done and informative. Thank you
Thanks so much! Consider subbing
Just stumbled on your channel and I appreciate you doing printer reviews and I hope you keep doing them, because I've been looking and looking and.... well, you get the idea. Core XY is what I'm after, so I'm definitely eager to see what you have coming up next.
The P1S is gonna be the best core XY machine for a while, I think. I’ll maybe test the K1 Max, and I have the Qidi XMAX3 which is very good but expensive.
@@thenextlayer Thx for replying, I appreciate it. After seeing what Creality has done to the K1 firmware (nerfing klipper), I don't really want anything to do with it. If Creality would fully embrace openness, then the k1 might be a consideration. But if they are just going to fight to keep it somewhat closed, then no thank you. Looks like Bambu might be the way to go.
@@thenextlayer Don't be afraid of [relatively] 'expensive' as long as it's paired with at least 'very good'. What good is a 'cheap' printer that's basically a barely adequate POS?
Your reviews are great, do the XMAX3, please!
I have a X1c. Some tips. The back of the build plate were the nozzle try’s wiping a hole threw the plate I took a remnant of high temp resheet to put over that spot, when fil. gets low pull the rfid and relabel it to match what you want it to run into.
I can say that you perfectly do info. I bought a p1s.I was wondering if I would regret it. Thanks to you, I was freed from hesitation. I'm glad I bought the P1S. But you're right, the X1C's screen is fantastic. Thanks a lot. Greetings from Turkey.
I picked up the p1p on Sunday at micro center and ordered parts for a enclosure. Then this was announced the other day😂. I was bummed at first because i spent an extra 100 on the parts so in effect i spent the same amount to upgrade it as it would have cost to get the p1s. But now i see it as an opportunity to learn how to maintain the printer rather than wait for something to fail and learn the hard way.
I wonder why they released the P1S in the first place? A simple "enclosure kit" for these 100 bucks direct from them would have been the trick!
I assume it's targeting those print farm users that don't want to customize anything. But I'll also would choose the DIY route with the P1P... just for fun and experience.
@@hassosigbjoernson5738 They have an enclosure kit now for the P1P
I just purchased one yesterday. Can’t wait to plug and play
Cool insights! Can't wait to see the P1S in person 😁
Wow, you don't have? What a shame, BambuLab 🔔 Stay awesome! ❤️
Loving the videos. Any take on the upgrade package to take a P1P to a P1S? I'm waiting to upgrade once it releases
I will probably end up getting the P1S (upgrading from ender 3) but I would sure love to have that touchscreen from the X1. Would be cool if bambu lab added that as a separate accessory that could be added to the P1 printers.
I really like your reviews. Personally I'm very curious about the K1 Max and would love a review from you when it comes out.
Keep the reviews coming. Nice mix with your other content
Recent printer sales have me looking at reviews again. This comparison hit the spot. Will check out your other videos on projects too. Thanks...subscribed.
I quite litterally JUST bought all the upgrades for my p1p and they came out with a p1s conversation 😃
Reviews, and comparisons; they certainly won't let us without buying it lol
Thanks for this presentation ! Just ordered a P1P yesterday... I send a cancel request and just buy this mew P1S model. A kit to upgrade a P1P is also a available (in limited quantity on the first bach) at 160€ in EU. But i love the just open the box and it's ready !
Keep them coming is my vote on making more reviews and comparisons btw printers. I very close to buying my 1st 3d printer for make prototypes of ideas that I have been kicking around in my head and that I have drawn up in CAD while working as an architect for many years. So the info I can get before spending the money will be greatly appreciated!
I've been using the P1P for some time now and it has been a great printer. I thought it would ever be better to get a P1S. The P1S is fully enclosed so I could do some materials not suited for the open design of the P1P. A bonus would be that being enclosed, it should be quieter to help avoid those domestic complaints. The P1S came in today. Very nice clean machine, a long way from the machines that look like High-School science fair projects. I started to print Benchy, and the fans started wailing. The P1S will drive you out of the room with the fan noise, this is going to be a problem. A big problem. On the bright side, it printed a beautiful, flawless Benchy.
Deff appreciate your opinion on your reviews. Big reason why I subbed
Thanks for the sub!
Awesome video, thank you!!
Thank YOU
Thanks for the video. I am trying to decide if P1S or X1C fits me better. Have you had a case where the X1C saved the print due to having more sensors? Or are those extra sensors work more like a insurance plan that you'll most likely not use? By the way, I pretty much only print PC and I am looking to print carbon in the future. Thanks for your time.
X1 failure detection works quite well. Sounds like you need the X1. Https://jle.vi/bambu if you’re picking it up
Thanks for the excellent breakdown on the P1S! I should really get the P1S.....and the A1 mini...and......
The clone you mentioned can replace and upgrade the hot end of the original extrusion head, where can I buy it?
I liked the review/comments, you missed one thing, Is the AMS on the top different form the one from the X1 Carbon? And, if so, how?
I don’t know why I’m watching this as I have a K3 and 2.4 sitting next to me…but great content hope this brings more peeps into the hobby!
Another great video, keep up the great work.
I am so happy I waited on the P1P this past week. Came close to buying but this seems excellent
Enjoy! Kindly use my link :) jle.vi/bambu
we need a 300mm build volume Bambu, PS i only print ABS/ASA on my P1P but i enclosed it myself with an ARC enclosure
I would really like to se as much PROJECT videos as possible! Some inspiration is always helpful :)
Some comparisons now and then is also nice if the focus is on the more relevant ones on the market.. :)
Hi. I'm new to the 3D Printer world. For the Hotend Head Assembly, there are 4 measurements to choose from. I'm guessing the smaller the head, the finer the details you get but which head dimension do you recommend getting first? Which one comes with the P1S? Thanks.
Thanks for the comparison. I'm very new to 3D printing, and this P1P was given to me as an early birthday present, I turn 81 in August, by my son, so your review was helpful. However, I don't know the difference between the original P1P and the P1S except the P1S upgrade is an enclosure with other add ons. What are the pros and cons of having a 3D printer that is enclosed vs one that isn't enclosed, focusing on the P1P? Thanks.
It is essentially the same printer with an enclosure and a few other additions. Bambu Labs are selling a kit of parts to turn a P1P into a P1S so it is a straight forward upgrade, nothing new in the core print mechanism. There are two advantages to an enclosed printer, first it provides a more even temperature reducing warping in materials like ABS during printing meaning fewer failed prints with difficult materials. Second it allows fumes to be contained and dealt with especially with materials like ABS which can produce nasty fumes. If you are just printing with PLA or PETG then it really isn't necessary at all.
Thanks for another great review/video!
As someone who jumped on the P1P when Bambu knocked $100 off the price, I wish they would have made that announcement alongside the release of the P1S. Would I have purchased the P1S? I'm not sure. But as someone who paid the same as the P1S by purchasing the reduced P1P and the AMS, it would have been nice to have the option. As it is, I feel a little hoodwinked. That said, still very happy with my P1P. Lesson learned regarding any future discounts by Bambu.
Keep up the great work!
Yeah, that's fair, but I'm glad you love your P1P
Oh, apparently there is an upgrade kit on the US site, btw: jle.vi/bambu
@@thenextlayer sold out already
"who paid the same as the P1S by purchasing the reduced P1P and the AMS" ...?
Here in Germany the P1P is 649 € and the AMS is 359 €... but the P1S is "only" 749 €.
So the AMS still makes a big difference!
@@hassosigbjoernson5738 Wow! And here I felt bad about it being roughly the same in the US. My sympathies!
I love your reviews. I do hope you give pros & cons not only on this printer but also comparing to ALL the printers. We know that PLA & PETG work with most printers, but how do they compare to other filaments right out of the box. As a noobie that has learned allot from upgrading & playing on my sons geeetech a20m, not all printers are the same. Slicers, settings, materials, hotends, nozzles as well as thermistors need to work together. Calibration is another issue. Right out of the box experience can make or break the brand. Even Bambu has been uneven from all the reviews I watched. Yes, for the most part, these printers work regardless of brand. Just like buying a car, regardless of catagory, you can still get a lemon or it's not as good as stated.
Could you confirm that we are able to upgrade to the hardened steel extruder for the P1S.?some people say that it's not possible (only nozzle) because on Bambu site, it only exists one extruder and it is, mentionned for X1 ? Thanks in advance for your reply
I basically have a P1S. I've done all those upgrades including the Board fan and Hardened gears/extruder. I also Paid the original 699. So this is a deal at that price. I've had no issues with the textured PEI plate but my buddy with the X1Carbon has had tons of issues with his plate. He purchased the PEI sheet now. It should come with the X1.
I was just ***one click*** away from buying the $599 Bambu Lab P1P 3D Printer then I see this video. Thank you for that!!!! 💯
this will be my next printer. i will be doing what you suggested getting an extra mat and hardened nozzle.
Great video!!
Have fun!
For a farm environment, the P1S makes the X1C much less needed. For a home user with a single printer, maybe their first printer, I would still recommend the X1C for the more user-friendly interface on the printer itself, the better camera system, and the fancy lidar. If anything, it makes the P1P less appealing -- although money talks if an enclosure is not required.
Awesome review, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the videos mate.
I joined the 3d printing gang 2 years ago with a creality ender 3 v2 and while I enjoyed tinkering at first it got annoying really fast. I was spending more time with calibrating and upgrading in the hope that it would start printing nicely then that I was actually printing. So I sold it last year.
Recently I was triggered again by the message that creality is coming up with the creality ender 3 v3 corexz and that peeked my interest again and now I am in the rabbit hole of finding the easiest and best printer to use. I started with wanting the creality ender 3 v3 corezx and then finding out about the qidi x-plus3 and then finding the bambu lab p1s and the x1-carbon and now I am a bit at a loss. I think that how much I would like to have a bambu lab X1 carbon it's a bit over my budget and the P1S is actually also a bit to expensive (at least where I live).
What would you advise. Is there a printer that doesnt need much calibration and works good for arround $600?
"But hey! At least the touchscreen is nice"
Really good video, you stepped up your game considerably, kudos.
I have 2 small gripes though, my aspberger kicks in when you have a dirty t-shirt and lift yourself with the front of your feet. Minor gripes but important to me.
Once again an informative and humourus video!
Haha yeah I was drilling into concrete. Good eye.
I'm kind of missing the LIDAR though, but I don't really know if it's that important or not. Does it still do some kind of auto bed leveling without it?
Hello, I ordered my new printer, of course using the link. Thank you for a lot of valuable information! ! :)
Great Video, much appreciated. Please keep reviewing and comparing 3D printers!
Would the "Unicorn" Bambu Labs printer be the P1S and... an optional touchscreen (from the X1C) for $100 more than the P1S price?
I love product reviews and comparisons. There aren't many ppl in the space with the name power to pull in the big names and new niche brands at the same time
I like product reviews I can trust from you! Furthermore, I hope you and your family are safe and secure!
Can you review Qidi x-max 3? There are many people waiting/preordered that one, would be great to see if the upgraded frame, steel rods in action.
I've been on the fence of which printer to buy as my first 3D printer. For my budget it's down to Creality K1 and Bamboo P1S. I've watched videos and read reviews on both and I've decided on the P1S. Your review clinched the deal. Thanks!
Do ALL the videos man. I will watch them all :).
THANK U
Got a P1P for work last month. It's been a machine. Printed 5 kg of prints already. With only a handful of failures, I'd attribute mostly to user error. Had one print go stringy on me.
And I haven't enclosed it. I don't have the cooling fan. I haven't changed anything. Bone stock P1P.
If the P1S had come out 2 months sooner I think we would have bought that instead. But I can still upgrade the P1P to a P1S but I really don't think it's necessary.
I've done large petg prints using the whole build plate but only 1/3 of the max height and they came out perfect.
I wish I could go back in time knowing this was coming. I ended up buying X1CC about five weeks ago now, and then, when the price dropped on the P1P I ordered that thinking it was a special. Now that I have experience with both machines, I wish I had waited and got two P1S with an AMS each. And then upgraded the hot end.
I have placed a preorder for a p1p literally 3 days ago and not only buying the p1s is cheaper than p1p with the conversion kit to p1s, but if you buy it as a combo with the AMS, then the AMS is only £220!. I'm not sure if I will need all that as this is my first printer but the prices seem to be really good. Thoughts?
I bought a creality K1 a couple weeks ago and had nothing but problems with it kept getting error codes. It lasted two days before I returned it. I’m picking up a P1S this Friday.
Fantastic review!
That second store link you posted in chat allowed me to pick through to the uk store :-)
Thanks for the excellent first look at the P1S. I am going to order one in the next few days, and have been thinking about the chintzy control screen. Why couldn’t one semolina dedicate an older phone or tablet to running Handy, print a simple bracket for it, and have a nearly equivalent experience to the X1C? The phone could even be powered by the extra USB port that us apparently included in the printer. Has anyone tried this?
A combination is good! I will love to see if qudi fix their problems with their printer. I saw that one of them can go up to 350c at the hot end. Can you test that one with peek or a better nylon that print over 300c? Thanks
Is the p1s able to print nylon and PC? Is says on the website it’s capable but I see the heated bed only goes up to 100C whereas those filaments require 100C minimum to 120C max.
As a noob to this machine having only just bought one coming from a long term farm of prusa bears. Lazy question, if lidar is not enabled does this just bed probe and you ignore the warning and continue?
I have a P1S on the way. It's my first 3D printer and I wanted to get the one I really wanted and not want/need to upgrade in the future. I'd like to know if the X1 touch screen is compatible (or ever will be compatible) with the P1S. I''m wondering if I can upgrade to the X1 screen in the future if it becomes possible. Right now the product page for the screen says "only suitable for the X1 series." Will that ever change?
Great video. As a total newbe who is just thinking about getting into 3D printing, but who has some money to spend, I was really leaning towards the X1C, even though I knew that it was overkill for my purposes, until seeing this video. I'll definitely be looking into the P1S a lot closer now.
Great video. More compare videos of next gen printers. Is there anything better than the carbon x1 and why.
One thing to consider if you want to print more exotic or higher temp materials (like me) is that the bed only goes up to 100°C, which could become an issue.
Truth.
