This is brilliant, you literally couldn’t imagine going much quicker than this on these tyres...... I can’t imagine the sinking feeling looking at the timesheet and seeing +3 or +4 against your name 🤣
it was heavy, unrealiable, short power band, high consumption. but it had quite as much power as the best engines. thats narrow power band is the reason for the great sound where you have resonance and exrem camshaft timings

Exactly, this is why I'm really glad McLaren didn't take the Lamborghini engine in 1993, cars using Lamborghini engines finished only 5 times in 80 races or so... bulky, overweight, unreliable and not worthy engine
@@R9naldo i was referring to that it still had the most or quite most power and that the resonance made the greatest sound. so since lambo had nothing to lose anyways, they provided us with some entertaining properties: Smoke, fire and super sound all the other time when not smoking or burning.
In 90/91 the Lambo sounded different to other years- not as sweet a note as in 89 or subsequently from 92 onwards. Not sure if it was exhaust port design perhaps- but the pitch was different. This was in all cars- Larrouusse, Lotus, Ligier & Modena Lambo
@@R9naldoit needed development. Lambo had no proper funds to throw at R&D. It made 640hp in 1990 when Honda/Ferrari & Renault were 670 at worst & knocking on the door of 700hp. For a thirsty, heavy V12 that made the Lambo well down on power. When McLaren tested the engine in 93 it was a development unit- faster round Silverstone than their Ford V8. Would have been a better choice for 94 than the Peugeot !!!
I'm amazed by the picture quality - these old analogue signals usually broke up as the cars passed overhead signs/bridges/trees even - unless this was recording to tape?
In 1989/1990 every apart from Ferrari were still using manual H shifting. Ferrari were the first team to use paddle shifters in 1989, Williams in 1991, McLaren in 1992 & then the rest shifted to he paddle shifters in 1993/94. I think Minardi were using a sequential stick shift in 1993 but i'm fairly sure everyone else went straight from a H-pattern to a paddle shift.

I love, how he holds the steering wheel Jean Alesi style
These days people who've been on the racetrack 4 times will call him a noob and say he's using a 'lorry driver' style grip...
Jos Verstappen style too
Hah :) Alesi style in my memory :) 11-13 h hand position :) but in 1990 in Tyrrell, this Jean style, as I remember, works very well :)
without power steering and with som downforce you need to hold the wheel like that :)
ALESI DEATH GRIP haha
Too cool, that giant go kart feel and manual shifting.
Now thats a proper racing steering wheel
Fantastic video quality for something 30 years old. Amazing
A real F1 driver one hand on the wheel one on the shifter
Very clean and always in control, his style reminds me of prost

I was going to comment on that! but you did it before. hahahahahaha
To this day, he is still looking for 7th gear
Only Ferrari had it😆
Real F1. Great memories: I was there with Camel Team Lotus.
Holy cow I forgot how different Paul Ricard looked.
Even back then that lambo had a great sound.. though it had a very short power band.
The engine was good. It was just not too reliable.

Gosto muito também do barulho dos motores
This circuit is awesome way better than the snore fest they use now

damn, look at that steering wheel. One button! Now you can't even drive a F1 without 2 weeks of training in how to use the steering wheel.
