    Classic. Suzuki is one of the only bikes happy to go out no matter the day or reason. Never ever have issues with any of my Suzukis.

    • @renevanderkraats3811
      @renevanderkraats3811 Před 5 měsíci +2

      Experiences vary, I guess...a Suzuki was the only one of the group on our Black Forest trip that had an electrical meltdown :-) People give Italian bikes a bad rep on that regard, my '99 Aprilia RSV1000 however never had a single issue in the 20 years of owning it. Still miss that classy lady sometimes. I guess there's always outliers to the norm ;-)

      @@renevanderkraats3811 I love the 2000-2005 era. I've a K1 GSXR and the electrics are fine besides the charging system. I've a K1 RSV mille & the electrics are pants from factory - clocks have known problems, battery didn't have enough CCA, starter relay arcs and burns
      But both are cheap, easy fixes & after which both start on the button every time even when they've not been ridden for a week in sub 0C.
      However, if you don't sort them the gixxer will absolutely burn through rectifiers. The RSV on the other hand won't crank & when it does it'll chew it's sprag clutch every time it fails.
      Love them both, but the gixxer is super reliable for a supersport - 45k+ and it's rock solid. The RSV needs a lot more aftermarket improvements, but mechanically they are absolutely sound. The Rotax engine is stonking on the road.
      As Italian bikes go, the RSV was probably the first to actually deliver a daily driver that you didn't have to wrap in cotton wool. Proper machine.

    Tried a year ago some S22 for my “do it all” STT RS thanks to watching your videos over the years. I love them, specially on track. I would say Bridgestone tires are pretty underrated here in Canada (and US) and cherry on the cake, they were rather inexpensive.

    In my 32 years of riding I spent many a hour reading tyre reviews to see what was best at that time and buying the next best thing and every year a tyre manufacturer brings out the next much more improved tyre and I can’t help but think in that 32 years have they really got that much better ??
    In theory if they had improved that much we should now only need one tyre that does everything and that tyre would last the lifetime of the bike !
    I started doing track days back in the mid/late 90s and I was still wearing out exhausts/pegs/engine casings/ knee sliders etc with what must have been totally crap tyres compared to todays next level stuff 😂

    • @yoorukhunt947
      @yoorukhunt947 Před 7 měsíci

      Well, no. Because bikes get better with them.Of you used 80’s tyres on a modern bikes you’d be on your ass. And yes, you. Still had the knee down then, but at a much slower pace.

    • @essexboydave
      @essexboydave Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@yoorukhunt947 yeah I think your missing my point here. yes modern bikes have more power better brakes and better lean angles etc etc and I’m not denying that. What I’m saying (in a light humorous way) is every year a tyre manufacturer brings out a new tyre and regardless of whether that tyre is for a touring bike adventure bike or a sports bike. It’s always the same thing “it has better wet grip better dry grip lasts longer and has better feel etc etc than the previous model
      But you can only go so far surely? So as I said in just the 30years I’ve been riding all these improvements in tyre technology we should by now just have one tyre that does everything in lots of different sizes
      Either way I don’t care

    There is often a debates about whether the bikes, like the ones ridden in the video are too powerful for the road. After watching this video it seems they are too powerful for this very high speed track. The circuit (Kyalami) is way above sea level, so the bikes ridden would be producing 18% less power than in the UK, and no one seemed to notice! Conclusion is that there is way more power available than what is required.

    Went through 4 sets of S22's on my Street Triple. Great tyre, far better road tyre than the Supercorsas they come on and great on track too. Just wish a rear would last more than about 3000 miles

      Yes the s22 wears out very quickly . So i went to Metzler race pro which is stock on bmw s1000rr , The metzler heats quickly better grip and more durable/long lasting

      I'm also on a street triple with the supercorsas they come on. Could you please elaborate why you found the s22 better?

    • @ZeeBri
      @ZeeBri Před 7 měsíci

      @@lukelin250 Probably the biggest thing is that the S22 is shaped more like a U than a V so it's very predictable when transitioning onto the side of the tyre. Supercorsas kind of fall into the side of the tyre which is great for track riding but feels a bit weird on the roads. They also heat up faster, are a bit better in the rain and I only got 1800 miles out of my first rear Supercorsa vs 3000 on an S22

      @lukelin250 Před 7 měsíci

      @@ZeeBri thanks for the reply. You are right about them wearing faster and the v profile. That's always the tradeoff for grip vs longevity. Surely for outright grip supercorsa are still king

    • @ZeeBri
      @ZeeBri Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@lukelin250 Oh yeah in terms of outright track grip, Supercorsas are right up there but I don't think the trade off is worth it unless you're spending most of your time on the bike at the track. As a fast inters rider I'm not even getting to the limits of the S22's.

    That looked a shit day out Nige, you lucky, lucky bastard. Remember watching Chad around 2005 ish at Ron Haslams Donnington school lapping as fast as fuck glued to the back wheel of Greg Lavilla.

    Found the s22s to be rubbish on the sides when hot. Slide all over the place. Hope these are better. Also love that the Gsxr was still going and the other 2 shit themselves 😅

      Yep, I nearly lost the rear at Donington Park Old Hairpin on my R6 with S22s. Same reason. I doubt these S23's are much better. Also bridgestone couldn't give me HOT pressures to run them at, just cold 'because they're a road tyre.'

      @liam-james Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@mickl8212 mine was at snetterton. Been round the same corner much harder on continentals and Pirelli’s and had no issues. Also found turn in harder due to the flatter profile.
      I think it’s just the compound they use. Greasy when hot. Unless the compound is massively different these will be the same

      @@liam-james yes they chewed up on my R6 despite suspension being set correct and trying multiple hot tyre pressures.

    3 mins into the video you already sold me the rubber, Nige. Been using battlax since S20, demolished quite a few sets. Kudos to Bridgestone for bringing you all for launch to such an epic track.
