      The video frame just as the car crosses the white line shows a f@ k off pothole just to the left of the white line behind the car, I suspect that the car driver reacted (too) late to avoid that and nearly took you out in the process. Probably not deliberate but a serious lack of awareness and forward planning. That was a seriously frightening moment.

      I found most car drivers being pretty considered when it comes to courtesy towards motorcyclists. The main problem is that most of them are too distracted behind the wheel and just not paying attention to what's happening around them.

    Thanks Gents ...I enjoyed watching this.
    As a road bike I have considered the lower priicepoint S1000R. That said the sports, comfort dyamic & motorsports (with forged wheels) packages added my configuration takes things to £18.6k. That's getting close to the start point for the M1000R (without options) .
    Customer service, reliability & engine durability outside of warranty will factor for some...... Have seen/heard some mixed comments re durability expectations of BMW (comp pack) carbon wheels also.
    Insurance premiums will also factor for many of us.
    Then we have to consider how careful we will need to be if leaving any of these bikes parked to avoid the being thrown in the back of a van and never seen again.
    Familiar tarmac helped me relate to this vid 😉
    I would be interested to see a back to back road use vid on the S1000R Sport vs the M1000R.

    Nice comparison video. I own an M1000R and it's damn near the perfect bike. Track, tour and commute. It'll do everything.
    Only two complaints I had was that the engine had some vibes at 5k but Evotech bar ends fixed that and the seat was hard but again a Wunderlich seat fixed that and then some. It's genuinely plush.
    Race Pro modes are so useful to refine the power delivery and suspension settings to your liking.
    Rider triangle is not aggressive. It's just right with those flat wide bars.
    It'll be getting an Akra header and ecu flash soon.

    I have a 1290R Evo. Already made the choice. Put a can and a tune in it, it becomes monstrous. I love that the 1390 has some of that character and some more revs, but not enough to go and flip out $5k or more to switch to the newer bike. To me, inline 4s are great workhorses and I have several for track but on the street the sheer fun and madness of the big twin is what makes me want to ride it.

      I would love to own either one of these bikes, but I know better. My brain and heart are still in it, but my eyes are not. I’ve settled for a decked out 701 and I’m taking full advantage of all the off-road riding afforded to us here in the north west of the United States. I have never rode a KTM. I agree with both of you the seat on the BM is not that comfortable and even with the suspension settings turned right down it’s still a firm ride. I don’t find the riding position wristy but I do get pressure on my palms and the bars are a bit buzzy. I have fitted a short end can, belly pan some great tank protection from motografic and the usual rad guards fender extender GB engine covers other than that there’s not much you can do to the BM to improve it. Ever considered doing a 990 Duke vs 1390, or m1000r vs mt_09?
    Be interesting. In isolation under 1000cc nakeds have plenty of power, be interesting to see how it works in the real world back to back with a super naked

      I think it would make more sense to do a 990 duke vs mt09.

    A question that should have been asked in the test should have probably been: You’ve been out on these bikes for 3-5 hours, which are you having more fun on at that point? For me, a lack of leg room and a hard seat matter when then differences in brake and front end feels are so slight and you actually have to live with these bikes once you buy them.
    I do think the build quality and finishes on the BMW are better and will hold up longer over time though. Here in the States, KTM dealers are harder to come by than BMW shops so that’s a consideration-as far as warranty goes though, all of the companies are shit these days it seems…. But I’d expect better reliability from the BMW. The KTM seems a slightly more livable bike though.

    best bike comparison on the all tube 👍
    the bimmer is surprisingly faster and the duke looks more lively and fun less chirurgical witch is better for a road bike

    Really enjoyed the channel, been watching for ages, why its taken me so long to subtribe I don't know. Anyway brilliant channel, great content. You really should do this as a full time job! Go for it.
    Hope you can do another review of the S1000RR as I am looking to purchase one and value your advice.

    Sooooo, no winner?
    I know it's about personal preference, they are so close, but some pros/cons/final conclusions would help.
    Or even better: this bike suits more that rider.
    If it's your money, which one you buy?
    Great video, BTW

    Great video, would be cool if you could do a weekend trip comparison review. I think the KTM would win for both of you due to the extra smiles and comfort over a couple of hundred miles of riding. Thanks for your work on the channel it’s definitely a top 5 watch for me 👍👍

    Good reactions chops, what a complete 🔔end that driver was. For me it has to be the BMW just because I'm a tart and I prefer the looks, and for me you've got to love the look of it. I'm with you though, I think BMW could have done better with the front light, it looks a bit of a cost copout. The SDR is still a beast and I'm sure it will make many people smile.

      Yes would be great M1000XR in the garage currently actually. However no RS multistrada on the Ducati UK fleet, not even a Pikes Peak so unfortunately impossible that test 😫

    Great vid gents, loved the review. I would say though the cost difference between the two should be a factor also. There is a lot of the power parts catalog that can be thrown at the evo for £8k ish.

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  Před měsícem +2

      Actually the base M1000R is slightly cheaper than the EVO Superduke and that's before you put the tech pack on the KTM.. M1000R has forged wheels and heated grips too!

    Pretty insane insight into 2 top shelf bikes. Personally I’d opt for a Yamaha Tracer 9 GT with wind protection. I can’t ride without it these days. BMW RS1250T(?) with fairing and shaft drive is a very comfortable,sports tourer.

  • @chrisindubai
    @chrisindubai Před měsícem +4

    I've had the 1390 for a few months now and it is incredible but still I have moments when I want to go and swap it for the BMW. Thing is though that the KTM is so comfortable and I hear the BMW is quite viby at "motorway" speeds. On the other hand the BMW looks perfect out of the box where as the KTM needs tail tidy, rear sets, mirrors and a full system. 🙃

    • @Carvetii
      @Carvetii Před měsícem +1

      Ktm just needs an end can it doesn't need full system

    • @chrisindubai
      @chrisindubai Před měsícem

      @@Carvetii I disagree. It feels even better with the full system but not as much as the 1290, which was night and day. It is a bit loud though.

    • @ShamanWS6
      @ShamanWS6 Před 18 dny +1

      It's the tune that matters, the full system does next to nothing but take money out of your pocket for the 1290R. Just a tune with a short can makes all the power that the Akra full system + OEM Akra tune does. Get your dealership to slam the Akra tune in, it will work as well as BrenTune or Openflash.
      As for the tail tidy, rearsets etc. the Super Duke is sold as a street bike that can do anything. That's its purpose in life and others might want to have side bags, etc. where you want track-ready gear on it. The point is moot because even if you farkled the 1390R to the moon, it's still probably cheaper than the BMW stock.
